Re: Are you a MICROA1 Owner?

@Varthall

It does look promising, the thread has stalled but there does seem to be life on the project page!

I wonder if the a1/micro could be made to employ the "hot-swap" method used by the corebios guys for bios updates (once it's loaded and live, pull the chip and drop a blank in flash!)

@Snuffy

I was going more along the lines of the Articia-S docs

@gregthecanuck

If it's the same discussion I read the other day then it also needs certain pieces of documentation that don't seem to be available, as well as some degree of access to the os4 specific parts of the amiga port of uboot.

As a thought if the issue is simply down to the pci bus not being initialised properly then is there scope to re-initialise it after the boot loader has kicked in much as linux does (the bios on a linux system is largely ignored after the kernel starts up) ?

@Mikey_C

The problem with pci risers/graphics seems to be, at least from what information I've been able to gather, mixed and varied as it seems to be, that uboot doesn't "correctly" initialise the pci system making it impossible for graphics.riser cards to work, id kind of hoped someone would have figured out a work around by now but that seems unlikely, I did find a thread suggesting that there are people more than willing to work on the issue but they lack the source + documentation to make it happen!

Of course, if a simple enough hardware solution where an option for the riser issue it could, potentially, be applied to an off the shelf riser card, but this also seems unlikely :(

Damn damn damn, That's twice now in one week i've been forced to stop lurking, I like lurking damnit (god knows i've been doing it long enough!) :D

So yeah, quick question really, Did anyone ever come up with a solution for the Riser/Graphics issues on the micro or am I stuck with the less than marvelous picture from the onboard radeon ?

@Rudei

Most of those 1200's seemed to be running awful crappy games, the one in one of the gaming rooms was running some utter tripe shooter while behind it was a ps3 running galaga, all I could think was "Put Deluxe Galaga on the a1200, for the love of god!" :D.

Still bloody good weekend, and both me and my laptop got a good workout :D
