That would be me (porter of 0.73 for AROS). I must admit Im pretty impressed with 0.73. Fastest version yet. Ive been able to play all sorts of games at very good framerates. Played Duke3d @ between 50 and 170 or so fps (depending on activity), alien trilogy @ very good framerates (no framerate counter in this one so not sure of numbers), Rebel Assault, Destruction Derby, etc. Even tried a few dos emulators of other systems (genecyst(megadrive), hugo (pc-engine)), and they worked well too. It really has come a long way in recent years. One thing that surprised me is just how many cool old games there were/are for dos. I never noticed this before as in those years I was as Amiga only guy. Weird that Ive only found this out 15 or so years later, on an Amiga based system Anyway, thats enough of my ranting, Ive just really been enjoying playing with this software over the last few days since I ported it. Im happy to be of assistance if I can be for a port of 0.73 to OS4.x. Im still ironing out a few bugs and tweaking AROS version, so its still fresh on my brain. Shame I dont have OS4.x these days as it'd make optimising easier (hard to tell differences when things run so fast already). Oh well, it's surely only a matter of time before I win the lottery

@jahc
For now you could always download to you pc and then transfer them over to Sam and/or play them on the pc once theyre downloaded. Sure its not ideal, but it saves you wasteing your traffic.
@thread Without having a Sam myself I cant really give many details, but I recently sent a 1280x720 wmv video to a friend and he seemed to have it work fine (albiet slide show city), so I guess it is possible.

@Skov
Latest version of E-UAE seems to not like AB3D1. Even on fast hardware running it on AROS (with jit cpu emulation enabled) its not hugely fast. AB3d2:TKG, Quake, Trapped2, etc (which are all a heck of a lot more hardware intensive) run silky smooth fullscreen, so I can only imagine that AB3D1 does somethings that 0.8.29-wip4 has issues with.
In regards to AB3d2, can anyone tell me if it works on os4.x directly using the RTG patch please ? (and not using euae). It used to run very nicely on Amithlon, and is, in my opinion actually a really good game when framerates are good.

Im sure this must be possible, but Im not really sure where to start to implement it (arexx maybe?)...... for the last few days Ive been trying to work out a way to get amiga os (3.x) to periodically check for certain conditions to be met (for conversations sake(although somewhat a random example), lets say a partition becomes full to within 50 meg) and then launch a script once those conditions are met. There must be a way to do this other than writing a dedicated program surely ?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions

@xeron Ah, ok. Maybe shouldve written snoppdos or equivalent Just curious, but do you know if Snoopy is the same program as AROS's Snoopdos equivalent, as they share the same name ?

@AJS Quote:
Maybe people need to create a list of the Manuals they own? It would give other people a chance to ask for info/help etc
Good idea in my opinion. Maybe if people can list what they have and are willing to share others may start saying what they'd like and a picture will start to form in regards to what people think is most important to have. Once all this is sorted I can then go on upload what is legally redistributable and try to obtain permission to upload whatever material is sought that is now maybe out of publication. Guess I'll start the ball (hopefully) rolling. AMOS manual AMOS Pro manual AMOS Pro compiler manual AMOS IntOS manual Blitz Basic 2.1 manual DigiPaint 2.0 manual Lightwave manual and others. I'll update later when Im at home.

@Outcast Lucky bugger @thread Anyone else interested in maybe trying to hoard documentation for amiga productivity software ? I have accumulated a reasonable collection of various bits and pieces over the years, both in printed and electronic forms, but I cant satisfy everyone's needs alone obviously. Are people interested in this idea, and if so, what would people like to see covered ? Any thoughts on potential legal issues, content, ways to obtain (ergo share) good documentation, etc. would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Documents for old Amiga software

While it cant really be denied that Amiga productivity software is maybe a little outdated compared to what's available now for other platforms, we do still have a lot of older software that is quite usable and can give more than adequate results. Lightwave, Image3d, Octamed Studio Pro and PageStream being just the first few that rolled off the top of my head. Nowadays theyre probably even a bit more usable being that your average "amiga" runs 68k software a lot faster than it used to (uae/amithlon/os4 68k emulation/mos 68k emulation/etc.) and is equipped with a lot more RAM. However over the years documentation on these types of software have next to dried up, so minus being lucky enough to find copies somewhere that still have manuals intact it can be tricky to use the potential of this software. Once upon a time though there was a lot of information on this type of software, and it must be out there somewhere still. And this I guess is where I get to the crux of the post. What software in particular would people like to have documentation/tutorials for ?? What would people deem most useful ?? Any thoughts on how to contact old amiga software developers to ask permission to scan and upload manuals in pdf (or other) forms ?? I could go on with similar questions for ever, but Im hoping Ive gotten the jist accross by now Thanks for any thoughts/ideas and opinions
