@BobW

Looks like something was messed up in my OWB install. I deleted everything and reinstalled. Works great now.

3.19 takes my processor to %100 and never lets go. I can type in the address bar and search field but the page never loads.

3.18 worked fine.

@LiveForIt

Have you seen the GDK stuff here? It's old but I stumbled across it the other day.

I thought X11 and AbiWord started loading faster after the latest OS4 update. I didn't time it or anything but I could swear it is running faster.

I've been on SFS since last fall.

Re: OS4 Final Stability and Network problems

@ssolie

I added DEBUG to my interface tonight. With DEBUG turned on the network connection works perfect with 0% packet loss. As soon as I remove DEBUG I get 30-40% packet loss and some hard lockups. I'm not getting as many tonight but I do get the packet loss every time.

I am seeing the duplicate DNS servers both when the interface is working and when it is having problems.

My sniffer isn't working. I think the ethernet ports on my router are switched so I'm not seeing most of the traffic. I'll try to borrow an old hub tomorrow.

Here is the debug output but like I said, it works with debug on:

@PEB and @ssolie

I wonder if it's a combination of the GX processor and the particular router. I'll bring my A1 in to work tomorrow and see if it has issues with our business DHCP servers.

Yes, I also have a GX processor.

I'm going to try really hard tonight to spend some time debugging this.

Thanks!

So that means there is no problem? I don't think I'm the only one that has encountered this problem. There was a thread over on AW.net where a couple other people had similar issues.

Setting up an A1 for DHCP is extremely easy but when I do it my A1 Hard freezes either during bootup or shortly after. Now my router may have issues or my network could be busy but this doesn't effect my two macs and my two XP machines.

Unfortunately things have been busy at home so I haven't had enough time to do more debugging. It's a choice between working with my A1 or helping my 9 year old with cub scouts.

My OS 4 Final seems to work the same as update 4. A slight delay at the edge before dragging off the screen. I think it's a nice touch.

True but is is work while commenting out kmods that are not needed. Especially when they are for hardware you don't have.

Interesting. So it sounds like a Micro specific problem and it appears to be something that was introduced with final. I had no issues with Update 4.

it8212 is an IDE raid controller.
LSI53C8xx is a SCSI Raid controller I think.

How about:

;MODULE Kickstart/it8212ide.device.kmod
;MODULE Kickstart/lsi53c8xx.device.kmod
;MODULE Kickstart/3dfxVoodoo.chip

Right now with IBrowse open, The dock, CPUTemp and CPUClock I have 200 Megs free.

Edit: If I close Ibrowse I have 209 Megs free.

Re: OS4 Final Stability and Network problems

@BobW

Ok, I now have 2 workarounds:

1) I can set a static IP

2) Add "Run >NIL:" to AddNetInterface

Without either of those two workarounds my A1 is guarenteed to freeze. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with an incompatibility with my Dlink DI-624 Rev C3 (there are at least 4 different DI-624's). Before I tried anything tonight I flashed my Dlink with the latest bios. That actually made the problem worse! Not only did the system freeze but on the rare occasion where I could get into shell ping had 100% packet loss.

After flashing my router I also tried setting MTU to 1500 and mssdflt to 1460 with no apparent improvement.

I'm still trying to find a serial cable for my Micro and right now I don't have access to my OS4 Final CD so I'm done for now. Maybe this weekend I'll try some different debug options and possibly a sniffer to see whats happening.

Nope, totally fresh config. I usually do everything the hard way and restore my old settings manually.

I haven't brought anything from Update 4 over to Final.
