I've got some misterious problems with my Amiga 4000 and the GVP A4060 accelerator (68060 @ 50 Mhz and 128 MB RAM):


Problem #1:

If I do a cold boot, the machine doesn`t start. That means, the Power-LED is on, but the screen remains black and there is no sign of disk activity.

Now I trigger a reset by keyboard. The system starts normal!!

OK. If I run Workbench-Versions like OS 3.1 where no "SetPatch" command is given, I can do reset by keyboard or software and the system come up again and again.

Problem #2:

If I now run OS 3.9 with SetPatch, the system starts regular, too. But if I do a restet or a crash happens, the system doesn`t start again. That means the Power-LED is flashing (very fast) and the screen is black. The only way out is: Turning off the computer and wait 3 minutes. After that, I can start again. The 68040/68060 libs are the versions of GVP, not the original libs of AmigaOS, of cause.

Your reading tool works great, too! It`s very fast. There is only one problem: In case of bad sectors/cylinders (unfortunaly very offen ) the program froze and stops working.

And, of cause, in a "new" Amiga (UAE), AROS or SAM enviroment you should do other things than spending time with the old stuff.

Of cause, I had the important things of 3,5" floppys. And you know the sensitivity of floppydisks, too. Now I want to safe the other things.

The other reason was, that I ran a PC-Emulator on my Amiga and it was important for me, to carry data from each system to the other. And 5,25" was the standard of PC-Disk-Drives, I think till the end of the 8086 age.

The big fdd operated great in each format on Amiga 500, given that you have enough power (a better power supply or an other supply via Harddiskdrive A 590 for example).

Thank you very much, I will try to read PC disks.

But my wish is to read AMIGA 880k floppys, that one, I had made with my old Amiga on extern 5,25" floppy drive.

The OS4depot reading tool doesn`t work (only red sectors), mounting the disk cause reading errors.

Hi!

I've still an other problem.

I try to run a 5.25" disk drive an a 3,5" disk drive on MK4. Well, both drives are running, but I can`t read from the big one because of "reading errors".

I think thats a problem with the driver (spinning speed?).

Has anybody a solution for me?

Hi together!!

Is anybody out there, who has succesfully started AMIVNC on a SAMflex under OS 4.1?

I?ve tried to start it, but nothing happends.

Nothing means I can chance password, I can call the -h option, but nothing else. After entering the programmcall in CLI the tasks freeze until I press CTRL+C without any output.
