Re: DVPlayer? Any Good?

Just can't stay away

I tested a couple of DVD's today. Older DVD's and non region coded ones work ok. I tested also Casino Royale (region codes 2 and 5) which is also copy protected. DvPlayer played 7 different trailers and ads but it didn't play the movie. When I tried to play vob files from the disk directly I got read error requesters. Sometimes DvPlayer froze.

Thanks ! I thought to ask because I thought somebody might remember from memory and don't need to do any searching.

common integer registers (from r0 to r31)

I knew that somehow. So it depends on the command which register is used for data and which one for address.

Do anybody know what PPC command stw for example: stw r0,4(r11) do ? Are those two registers used as data registers or memory address registers in that example ?

Insert a disk into your floppy drive and an icon will appear automaticly (and disappear when you remove the disk).

I have these in my UBoot settings:
setenv boot_method boota
setenv bootmethod boota
setenv menuboot_cmd boota; boota; boota
saveenv

I don't know if some of those settings are outdated or needed. But I have those.

You should have this also:
boot1=ide (setenv boot1 ide)

Re: OS4 + DVD
Just can't stay away

@Varthall

I have tested many different command line options. Yesterday I searched this issue with google and it looks like it's common problem that ffmpeg and mencoder might have some av sync issues. But ffmpeg works better in my case. The file I have used testing editing is Animated_Amiga_Tribute_by_Eric_Schwartz.flv. The problem is it's not possible to use ffmpeg or mencoder to join multiple video clips together AFAIK. It's possible to join them if files are in mpeg or dv format. There's Avisplice in os4depot but it can't handle audio so a resulting file will be without sound. And it looks like when converting flv to mpeg with mencoder it loses sync. I guess it might be related to different fps ratings. That flv file has 14.9 fps and that's not good value for mpeg. I have used fps 25 for output mpeg file. Btw. trying to use some certain codecs makes mencoder to crash.

@thread
Do anybody know the author of avcodec.library ?

Yes, i have done that

So you have succesfully installed OS4 to your hard drive. And you have replaced your SiS graphics card with your Radeon card ? Are you still in the same situation that your computer loads Kickstart from hard drive but can't ever reach Workbench ? Are you using ps2 or USB mouse and keyboard ?

Ok, tried it this moring and looking through the help system found that if i type boota i can get os4 up and running, so how do i get this command to run from power on?

Have you selected to boot from your hard drive in UBoot menu ?

I tried to edit some video with MEncoder and it can't keep audio and video syncronized. Could you try to fix that ?

Are there any chance anybody could try to make ffmpeg any faster ?

How do i enable UDMA mode?

It depends if you're using onboard IDE or PCI IDE controller card. In UBoot prompt type: "setenv a1ide_xfer ????" + enter + "saveenv" + enter or "setenv sii0680ide_xfer ????" + enter + "saveenv" + enter (if you have sii0680 card), where ???? is 4 numbers or letters. The first digit/letter is primary master, the 2nd is primary slave, the 3rd is secondary master and the 4th is secondary slave drive. Letters A-G, where A=the slowest UDMA mode and G=UDMA133. For example: "setenv a1ide_xfer AAAA" + enter + "saveenv" + enter". AAAA will set all drives to use the slowest UDMA.

OS4.1 bugs
Just can't stay away
Just can't stay away

- This old bug is still there in 4.1. When opening a new screen screen background is not cleared.
Resized Image

- This one is new. When a program does DisplayBeep() (flashing screen colours) the most of time screen title colour is not changed back to white but it stays black on any public screen other than Workbench. On Workbench screen this doesn't ever happen.
Resized Image

- I think this is an old one. Using Notepad (texteditor.gadget related ?) it leaves some dots there.

Do you mean you have a Silicon Integrated Systems http://www.sis.com/ graphics card ? I don't think it works with AmigaOS 4. Install a Radeon card when you'll get it.

You have to remember one thing because you have an A1-SE. Your AmigaOS 4.1 CD won't boot most likely. You have to try to install it on top of your existing 4.0 installation manually copying all files from the 4.1 CD. Or you can use AmiDVD and try to make a copy of your 4.1 CD and modify kicklayout to remove all USB related stuff before writing that CD.

Do you have any Silicon Image card (like 0680, 3112, 3114) for your hard drives and CD/DVD drives ? It's too risky to use onboard VIA IDE on SE boards.

You can go to the prompt from menu too. Erm.. was that option something like "leave uboot to prompt without booting" after pressing ESC. It's pressing ENTER goes to menu and pressing any other key goes to prompt. (I don't remember which way it is.)

@Snuffy
Quote:
But, he says he uses Uboot and sees kickstart

I think UBoot uses some generic VGA screen mode which any graphics card can display without any specific drivers (using one generic driver for all graphics cards).

Re: OWB splash window
Just can't stay away
Just can't stay away

I have a suggestion to everyone. Open any text editor like Notepad f.ex. Type the following lines but replace all file names and their paths with correct ones. You don't have to write comment lines which start with ";":

; This will open your splash window
Run >nil: Multiview MyDataPartition:MyPictures/MyPreferredSplashPic.pic PORTNAME SPLASH
; Wait 1 sec so starting OWB doens't slow down opening the splash window
Wait 1 sec
; Start OWB with WBRun command so OWB can find its tooltypes
WBRun Internet:OWB/OWB
; Wait for the OWB.1 message port to appear so we will know it's running
WaitForPort OWB.1
; Close the splash window
rx 'address SPLASH QUIT

Enable "Create icons" from Notepad's settings menu and save that script you just wrote. Make that icon executable (possible to run). Then use that icon (script) to launch OWB from now.
