Re: OWB, Core Fonts & Google News bug

@joerg

I'm just curious why Windows doesn't need it? I just installed all of the fonts from Windows 7, and that didn't help until Cyberbit was installed.

I think the overlapping comes from the & l r m tag (how did you manage to paste that without spaces?) which switches left-to-right text etc..

There seems to be absolutely no different when using your font and otag files, compared to just using the ones that are automatically generated.

Looking at your post here: http://www.amigans.net/modules/newbb/ ... t_id=27952#forumpost27952

The corefonts.html link you point to had always shown everything was setup perfectly.

@joerg

I installed it myself with TypeManager. However I just used your .font and .otag files then.. Same issue (I didn't reboot, but I restarted OWB).

That Cyberbit font is the only thing missing since I had to reinstall 4.1. Thanks for the help, but.. can you elaborate on why it's needed?

I just booted from my OS4.1 install CD, then assigned FONTS: to RAM:Fonts, copied all the fonts from cd0:system/fonts from the CD, then installed the MS Core Fonts. I didn't just do a blanket copy from my HDD partition to RAM:Fonts/

Then I loaded OWB 3.23 from the CD, went to news.google.com.au and the same problem exists.

Never used to be like that. I'm sure it's because of that HTML tag. It's probably something they changed recently.

Doesn't help.. Are you sure you have all the 30 core fonts installed?

[Link removed]

Just wanted to check before I make a bugreport, if anyone else is getting this.

You need the MS core fonts installed.

Seems to be caused by the & l r m ; tag

Re: Anybody install TVPaint on your AmigaOS 4.1 system?

@mbrantley

No, you're in the right forum here.

I haven't installed TVPaint but I suggest using "Snoopy" if you want to see the files it's looking for when you try to load it up.

I suppose the "Emulation" forum is the right one if you're discussing running it under E-UAE (via RunInUAE). Then again you don't want to double-up on threads. So I think this is the right place for both

You could try installing it under WinUAE, and then archiving the folder and associated libraries and extracting on the OS4.1 system and see what happens.

Re: Disk image device 52.60 does not work

@IamSONIC

I got this when updating (with AmiUpdate):

GETENV: object not found

However C:MountDiskImage has a datestamp of 2 minutes ago.

When I double-click on an iso it says "Unable to open your tool MountdiskImage. It doesn't say "not found"

It's because the executable bit isn't set.

Double-clicked on the Sam Update 1 .iso and it mounts it, but on workbench there's no icon. Looks like Disk.info isn't read. There's just the text, and therefore I can't double-click on it.

Trying to refresh the icons via "Update" doesn't work either. (Edit: Doing "cleanup" worked.. Hmm). Setting the executable bit on "DiskImageGUI" makes that work too.

Also, set "E" on "C:DiskImage" too.

Re: findutils?

@Snuffy

You need the GNU "find" in order to port some things much more easily. Like Neverball.

Some libs, like libtiff, use "find" if you have it. If you don't have it, you need to merge libport.a and libtiff.a together (if you're compiling using clib2, there's a function missing and it creates a libport.a).

Unfortunately the Makefiles don't really tell you that Find is missing, it just conks out, or continues on and looks like everything has completed fine.

I have ported "find".

It hasn't been tested much, but it seems to do the basic tasks OK. I just took the old GeekGadgets source file, and whatever it choked on during compilation, I stripped out :) ("fork" and "wait" stuff). It's a miracle it works with that code removed.

I don't have plans to update it to OS4Depot yet, simply because it's a rush & hack job and I don't know any C.

If someone wants it, just let me know.

@kas1e

Hmm OK. Have a chat to IamSONIC, he might be able to help you out.

I might see about compiling a new SDL_mixer too... but I want to compile a clib2 version of SDL myself, so I can get a clib2 SDL_image, ttf, mixer, etc and stick them on OS4Depot.

Edit: I'm doing a clib2 compile of SDL now, then i'll compile SDL_image, and if i'm able to, SDL_mixer for both newlib and clib2. They'll be static libs (but that's all they ever were on OS4Depot)... Someone else can do shared libs :)

Is C:Which buggy?

8.Workbench:> which libs: all
Workbench:Libs
8.Workbench:>

C:Assign shows SYS:Libs and MUI:Libs/

Is it also normal for "Assign Libs:" to get rid of the Libs: assign?

Also, a couple of other questions.

On OS3 I believe I could remove an assign with "Assign place: remove", but now it wants the location of the place as well.

The other question, if I don't have the SDK startup in user-startup, but in a shell I type Execute SDK:S/SDK-Startup, then the SDK will only work in that shell window. Once I upon up another window, it seems all assigns and things are lost. Is it something in SDK-Startup that makes it local? I haven't looked.

OK. Here's my theory.

In OS4.1.1, window drop shadows don't work in 16bit screenmodes, but they do in 32bit.

When the window is wide, the shadow is longer. When the window is vertical, the shadow is the same.

Makes sense to me!

When you say "until now", that normally infers that you didn't have any luck, but now you have.

Or did you mean that you still haven't had any luck yet? Since I haven't.

I got my sam from I.M.M Informatique that don't sell them anymore.

ACube says they were replaced by NG Informatique, who say they don't have any backplates from ACube.

ACube have had a week to respond to my e-mail but haven't yet.

2GB per file, not for the whole media. DVDs are both dual ISO9660 and UDF1.2 (i think it's 1.2).
