As we test with ChrisH now, for filetypes CD are not works ? I mean you just do CD RAM: or CD anything: and it not works (only internal $CD works for user-button, but i cant use it for filetypes).

So, the suggetsion: can you plese add support for CD for filetypes and, maybe you can also add support for the ";" separator (for making for example mounting of ISO + CD to new device works) ? Like you do:

Cant reproduce that here .. (i just come to the Aiss4.7 image directory, where is 3500 files, then press faster on parent button and its works as must). Imho will be better if you just do that with debug.version, then after lockup c:dumpdebuginfo in a shell (but i think you know that) and send that to Orgin. Because looks like its happenes not on all setups (if i test it right).

That happenes all the time, with all OS4 versions and updates. If i remember right, the same problems also on OS3.9 (that mean bad sgrab itself).

Like you run it first time, and it runs good, for second its always say about unabling of arexx blabal (because of it on openamiga project about replacing sgrab are starts).

But to be honest dunno why author cant fix sgrab at last. Maybe no one report it ?

Yep, but also need edit DefIcons config for make it works, + it's only mount
image. I want also "auto jump on that new mounted volume" in the Filer.
Like i press on iso, and Filer jumps on the new volume. I think about 2 ways:

1. make it as user-button, and there mounting + jumping, like:
c:MountDiskImage DEVICE ICD0: "{f}" ; $CD ICD0:

but as i can see, Filer does not support ";" for making works many commands at one time (but i think that is OS4 does not support that ?). So, that does not works. Then, i just try to make that c:test.bat script, with that:

c:MountDiskImage DEVICE ICD0: "{f}"
$CD ICD0:

and do in user-button command: execute c:test.bat

But i have of course problems with {f} and $CD (what was expected, but still i try).

So can't found solution there.

2. make it as filetype action.

So i try for Launcher here:
c:MountDiskImage DEVICE ICD0: "{f}"; cd ICD0:
it mounts, but not jumps (i.e again ";" not works here).

Then i try again script:
c:MountDiskImage DEVICE ICD0: "{f}"
CD ICD0:
And the same about {f} problem.

Of course i preffer second way with Filetypes anyway (just to make it work by double-click, not mark it, and then pressin user button). Any idea ?:)

In general i think, the solution it's answer on questions:

1. does os4 handle ";" as in unix or have any alternative for (for filetypes)
2. does filer have ";" as in unix or any alternative for (for user buttons)

Maybe it possible somehow via Arexx run many commands at one time ?

It is possible somehow, setup on the .iso files, in the Filer's filetypes menu auto-mounting of isos + auto jump on that new created volume ? I tryed to play with diskimage and just do:

DiskImage icd0: work:Distrib/ArtEffect_v4/arteffect_v4.iso
DiskImage: no disk in drive

or

DiskImage icd0 work:Distrib/ArtEffect_v4/arteffect_v4.iso
Sector size: 512

And iso are die :)

So, all what i want, just press on .iso file in Filer, and have just have mounted it and jump on new volume automatically.

Interesting :) But i just hope that very soon Filer will be integrated into Workbench by some "fully-system-normal" way : that is mean a bit more work from Hyperion itself:

- a bit fix listgadget.class (for solve all the problems with drag & drop) (when you mark many files or dirs, and try to drag and drop it, then one of files are "unmarks")

- dunno what fix , but, allow to do D&D from Filer lister to WB window. For now you can Drag and drop beetwen Filer's listers, and from workbench window to filer , but not from filer to WB window (that is strange for me, because we always can D&D files from WB windowses, so, WB already have some routines to "Wait" drag and drop).

- Just integrate it's to system normally. Not like in your easy/fast example :)

That part (integration of Filer to WB), are very important, and very hard just in terms of "usability". Because WorkBench, it's what many of us know for many years, and will be cool if Hyperion will integrate it in "good way".

I think, that also there is must be some new "preferences" in the prefs: , which will called somehow logical (for easy understand for what is need it for), where you can setup how it will be by default: plain WB, or not.

+ for now Filer does not have any options like "show files like WB" (you can only do "open current in WB window". What mean you press on directory, and or it will be Filer look, or plain classic WB looks with icons, but with the Filers buttons on window.

As i see it can be (will be or must be, dunno), like in Ambient on Moprhos. You just have lister windowses, with buttons on it, and some buttons for choice: lister mode, icons mode (wb mode), and so on.
But in case with filer, there is more options, like:
- plain lister mode
- icons lister mode
- plain wb mode (?)

In general i am in high interest to see how it will be done :)

I know it's maybe a bit early to ask about, but, did you talk with Hyperion already about Filer integration ? Did they have any "preparing" for it, or maybe did you have any ideas of how it must be / will be integrated to WB ? Just a bit explain how you see integration to WB.

So it's mean png icons support too then, good.

Just a question: did that project mean png support as well ? Because as i know, os4.1.1 does not have png icon support by default via datatypes, but by some 3dparty png.iconmodule. Just in interest about that png mess :)

And none of these bountes have soruce code of the current GDB for os4. Because starting for scratch it will be huge job imho (fixing the same bugs which hyperion fixed whyle port it , etc).

Saying that all the modern oses are bloated -it's untrue. We have thousand examples of thousands OSes, where the same and more hard and heavy ideas implement without that "bloat slowingdowns". And even if we will talk about WinXP, i never have any slowing downs when do "open file" or kind. And even if it will on some rare 100mgz cpu from 1995 year, then .. then we all know what then :)

For example the one of the eases way: just make it "save" for the current work. Not for all the time, but like you run one time any programm, open file in it one time, and then , whyle you still use that programm, position will be "saved". When you will exit, then erase everything from memory. Or just asl req on exit (which can be on/off from prefs) "do you want to save asl position for that programm ?" .

By this way only necessary programms will use that, and .. and in other ways there of plenty ideas and possibilites about add that. Just matter of motivation and interest of os4developers.

Imho WookieChat also must be in contrib with AOS4. I was surprised that is not .. And yes, will be cool if authors of old, but still not bad programms can compile os4 versions -> there everyone will won in that case.

So it looks like GDB need to recompile with all new libs/includes. Hope Hyperion will take a look on it for next SDK update (i in interst about stable-working gdb too).

It was madness buggy even without update1, i don't know how you use it before .. So i think not many of us miss it, because not many of us ever can use it normally (that imho of course).

It is possible with the current version change by preferences that bottom line where i see how less space i have on current partition to the megabytes value, but not to % as it for now ? Because for example for now, i download 500mb file, run filer, and see: DH1: 95%. So, i need to run dopus4 for see how many megabytes less exactly. If filer do not have any option for control that, will be nice if you can add it (one more suggestion, yep:) )

Maybe will be better just make that area "clickable", like click one time have % value, click one more time, have MB values, click one more time, have exactly value in bytes.
