Now I do not understand your point...? I have not mentioned the boot cd anywhrere in my text and have NOT used the basic driver on it! I use only the latest Radeon HD driver from the Enhancer Plus package, and everything I have written in this thread points only to it.

Besides, the resolution limit of that 'basic driver' on CD is only 1024x768, much lower than the 1080p (1920 x ....) someone mentioned here to be the limit with HD 6450 and HDMI. So, the 'basic driver' has nothing to do with the issues discussed here.

Unfortunately I am now (during several weeks) in different place than the HD 6450 and the Eizo I spoke about... But I already had a look on those frequences via Linux installed on the same X5000 but unfortunately I did not write them down... But I remember there was nothing peculiar in them, they were near 60 Hz.

PageStream crashes when importing EPS files under AmigaOS4.1
Just popping in
Just popping in

I have noticed that PageStream 4.1.5.6 crashes always (8000 0003) when trying to import EPS (Encapsulated Postscript) files under AmigaOS 4.1. This problem has been present as far as I have used OS 4.1. The OS version has not had any effect.

Is there any fix for this?

When running PageStrem in classic Amiga or with E-uae there is no similar problem. PGS files which already include EPS graphics also work with OS 4.1. Thus, the problem is only seen when trying to import EPS.

Well, after all, this is not a big problem as I usually do not need low screen resolutions... Just some games cannot now be run directly under OS4.1, e.g. 'Hibernated'. But it still runs ok with E-UAE 1.0.0 if run from cli (it opens then a 800x600 screen), instead of trying to boot it directly from the .adf file.

>I take it you tried the "Detect Settings automatically"?

Yes, I used originally that setting, before I started to test the manually defined modes.

>Well, christmas is coming...time to get a new monitor(?)

After reading your signature, I would newer dare to waste the resources of our planet for such... !

But seriously speaking, I already have at home a relatively new Nec, with the same max resolution as this old Eizo at my work room. It has no frequency limitations for the digital mode. I hope I get an opportunity test it with this 6450...

Do mean how to install Ubuntu on X5000....? It's a long story .
Please have a look here:

https://forum.hyperion-entertainment.c ... 395f4ac383ac5bdd1d82f1fe1

There you can find detailed instructions how to install any of the currently available PPC Linux distros on X5000. Ubuntu is not anymore the best option.

I tested the 640x480 with those different frequence definitions but unfortunately without succes... The 800x600 was already working with 59Hz (but not with the initial 60Hz).

>The only other thing that comes to mind, is to plug a foreign system (linux, windows) into that monitor and see

No need to do any pluging as all modes are, as already mentioned, working with Ubuntu in the same machine . I checked the frequences from my monitor's info window for 640x480 and they were 31.4 kHz and 59.9 Hz. I do not know whether the Screenmode prefs accepts decimal values but I will try...

Edit: The decimals are not accepted... If 59.9 is defined in tooltypes, it is changed to 59.

I was just kidding... Hans told he used some old Linux code as starting point, and the MOS team probably did the same. But maybe they were more lucky to choose a code where the timings for the HDMI were already correct.

>BTW if you don't have a VGA output, you probably still have the header for a VGA cable, it was an external part on these boards.

No, there is no VGA header on the board, just the holes for soldering it. The endplate does not have a hole for the VGA connector, either.

I don't know... I just copied the limits from the specs. But I already tried to slightly exceed the vsync limits but all I reached was an error window from my monitor (blinking the sync value out of range).

>Care to share your monitor specs?

Sure, here they are:

Resolutions
1280 x 1024 full picture 1:1, 1024 x 768, 800 x 600, 720 x 400 640 x 480, scalable

Horizontal frequency
24,8-80 kHz (Digital: 31 - 64 kHz)

Vertical frequency
50-75 Hz (Digital: 59 - 61 Hz)

Dot Clock
135 MHz (Digital: 108 MHz)

I did already try, within the limits my monitor allows... There is quite a narrow range for the vsync, only 59-61Hz (with DVI). With DP the range would be much wider but it is not supported.

With Ubuntu there are no problems, so this is purely a software problem with AmigaOS and MorphOS. But knowing the developer teams for OS4.1 and MOS are separate, it is peculiar have they have both succeeded to create the same problem... Industrial espionage?-)

Re: Radeon HD 6450

I have now a Radeon HD 6450 in my X5000... It has 1GB DDR3 and DVI/DP ports (no VGA).

In general, it seems to work ok both with AmigaOS and MOS, but I have found two peculiar problems:

1) The 'AmigaOS 4.1 Final edition' splash screen, which is normally shown before WB is loaded, does not appear at all.

2) The lower screen resolutions (below 800x600, e.g. 640x480) are not shown. I already tried to adjust the frequencies from Screenmode preferences, but did not get them to work. Also tried to use -RB/+RB, but with those settings any resolution did not work.

I already consulted Hans but he did not have a recipe for these issues. He said there may be some timing issue, with the card or my display (Eizo Multiscan S1931). Other Radeons I have used earlier did not show anything like this with the Eizo, though.

Has anyone here encountered similar problems with a 6450 (or it's later incarnations 7450/8450/R5 230) or other Radeon HDs, and possibly found some solution...?

Odyssey has become unstable!

Just popping in

For some reason, Odyssey (the latest beta) has become extremely unstable in my X5000. It freezes regularly when loading pages, even the trivial Amiga sites. Sometimes it freezes already when loading the home page which is a html file on my hard disk (this cannot be related to the net connection).

I have not done any changes in my system lately. Netsurf does not seem to have similar problems, neither Wayfarer (MOS) or Linux browsers. The certificates are fresh.

Any idea what is wrong....? Odyssey is now too unreliable to use, have to reboot every minute .

I replaced the old curl-ca-bundle.crt in DEVS: with this version:

##Certificate data from Mozilla as of: Tue Oct 26 03:12:05 2021 GMT

But unfortunately I still get the same error when trying to upload to the HDRLab!

Could someone please try to upload there something, to see if the HDRLab really works? Thanks!

PS. Copying curl-ca-bundle.crt also to the same directory as the test program did not help, either.

I did not have any version of that command in my c: ! Copying it there did not change anything, still the same error. But I have earlier succesfully uploaded the results, so obviously CURL has nothing to do with this problem.

> If that still doesn't work, you might want to update your certificates

Which, where and how? If you mean AmiSSL, I have the latest version, and have never needed to update the certificates separately from AmiSLL itself.

Thanks... I had a look on the libcurl.lha, but could not understand at all how it is installed. It looked to me it is for the SDK which I do not have...

Where should the libcurl be, if there is already an earlier version?

I tried to upload GfxBench2D results to HDRLab but got this error (tried several times):

Uploading results failed with exception (35): ERROR: Search query (https://hdrlab.org.nz/api/v1/Benchmark ... 020%20%28E5500%20core%29&) failed with error: SSL connect error.

Does uploading work for other users, or is there some problem at HDRLab's site?

>The R7-240/250 & DDR3 issues are mainly seen with the Sam460ex machines.
>But some R7-240/250cards wont work on X5000 machines either .

I have tested a R7 240 with 2GB DDR3 and it works in X5000 with AmigaOS. But it is totally incompatible with MorphOS and does not offer any sort of HW acceleration with PPC Linux. But I'm waiting for a new HD 6450 board to arrive... It is currently the best option for X5000, as it is compatible with all OSs, offers HW acceleration (Video & 3D) with Linux and it's max power consumption is only 19W!

In the version history of va.library there is mentioned Radeon HD driver starting from v. 1.5. What does that mean, is it a typo...?

Version 1.8 - 2021/09/21
- RadeonHD/RX: Fixed a bug that caused vaPutSurface() to render to the RastPort
delayed by up to 1 frame, potentially drawing outside the window when
screen compositing effects are disabled
- DDK: Fixed the vaPutSurface() bug above in the skeleton driver too

Version 1.7 - 2021/09/21
- RadeonHD/RX: vaPutSurface() was rendering relative to the screen origin on
screens with compositing effects disabled. FIXED (#814)
- DDK: Fixed the vaPutSurface() bug above in the skeleton driver too

Version 1.6 - 2021/07/22
- RadeonHD/RX: Using vaPutSurface with rast-ports and bitmaps could result in
the rast-port's scissor being applied to the bitmap (i.e., only a subrectangle
copied to the bitmap). FIXED

Version 1.5 - 2020/03/06
- Added RadeonHD driver
