Hi @salass00
...7zip (exists as OS4 native and probably has much better compression even than LZX)
I just tried them all 4.16 and 4.42 and they 'Grim' like LZX ! Archiving on my A1 is really bad. Is there anything outside of LHA and Linux that works without Grim Reapers?

Hi @salass00 LZX is old and not supported by it's author anymore... Thought so. Thanks for confirming my suspicions! I forgot that LZX was custom built program.
...Better use LHA (which has slightly worse compression but at least exists as OS4 native) or 7zip (exists as OS4 native and probably has much better compression even than LZX) instead. Ahhh, '7zip'; totally forgot about that. OK, I going to have to see if that's a good replacement backup tool.
@Slayer [b] I've thought in the past of perhaps contacting chap to release either the code or compile a newer version... Me too! I would to hear what he thinks of the Amiga evolution since 1995? Maybe Mr. Forbes moved on to probably the Apple world...

@jabirulo
Hi, just tried LZX from shell and no problems it creates archives without a GR. Maybe is Cranu broken? No, Cranu 1.0 is not broken; it's just a GUI.
Your testing is all invalid; you didn't do anything. #lzx a ddd #? What's that mean?
The LZX program is old and behind the times. We want to arch recursively directories for backups. Examples: cd sys:>utilities lzx -r a ram:SGrab.lzx SGrab/* This will work, but... this won't: cd sys:>system ; ( I keep Orgins's Filer here) lzx -r a ram:Filer.lzx Filer/* .....GrimReaper This was the latest Filer -- 53.31 Orgin or Peter Gordon or Chris Young, Can you explain why Filer fails to arched into LZX? I took the tool 'Filer' by itself( no directories) and it won't arch. :-/ Was LZX designed just 68K code?

Hi @Severin It's nothing new, it's been available since at least july... Well, I wanted to know if it runs in EUAE or OS4? I'm a SDLBasic user and was curious to how it behaves. Back at v3.0, it wasn't all that great. Got more info, sir?

Hi all, I tried searching LZX here before asking. If the question has been answered, please drop a link. The Aminet program -- LZX v1.21r by Jonathan Forbes doesn't work anymore. I get 'Grim Rips :-/ ' trying to make archives. Anyone know why? ISTR it worked fine in OS4'final'. I use 'Cranu' and that reminded to ask...

Hi @ShInKurO
MUI APIs are available in all Amiga flavours in different forms and versions" And that's a problem... So we have a first draft of a bounty "To make Zune MUI4 compatible" I won't support/donate to it. I reached my limits and toleration with Amiga bounties; it's a 'boundary' problem and ZUNE is now overstepping a boundary. You're asking me to support your software interface that supports your program that will run on AresONE and MOS and Amiga OS4. Right? I really getting tired of this Amiga 'trinity' thing. So, who's the 'official' Amiga you want me to support?

Hi @spotUP
YW! SolarWolf was the first Pygame I played on my AmigaOne before OS4 was a reality! The A1-XE/G4 came with Debian Linux installed in 2003. I deleted Linux when OS4 was released. I haven't played the game since --- until yesterday! Oh, how cool it is to hear the SolarWolf sounds again and dodge the bullets -- Awoo-hoooo -- nice game!

These modules are the ones that I have a need for so far, I others needs other modules, feel free to suggest them here. We need the mama of all modules --TKinter. ... It is the standard Python interface to the Tk GUI toolkit and a de-facto standard GUI in general, ...wikipedia Here'$ to pushing forward! Thanks for all your efforts on PyGame. Hi Jan @AmiKit
Seriously, I would rather help with the port of Magellan if that is possible. Only if I knew the status or whatever. Maybe some bounty? But again, there's lack of information, lack of communication... Maybe if Andreas can assign the port to someone else or make it open source, anything? The quietness is killing me. Too much time has passed under the bridge without actions. I wouldn't support a bounty now or ever for Magellan. Sorry... I think Orgin's 'Filer' is a nice file manager!

...Sorry, topic and keyword documentation is not available because the Python HTML documentation files could not be found. I'm not following all your info. ??? If you were writing a script and wanted help with a 'directive' quickly, try this: Import the module of your directive; for example, let's use 'exit' in the module 'Sys' :
Amiga Python 53.29 Python 2.5.5 ... >>> import sys >>> help(sys.exit)
exit(...) exit([status]) Exit the interpreter by raising SystemExit(status). If the status is omitted or None, it defaults to zero (i.e., success). If the status is numeric, it will be used as the system exit status. If it is another kind of object, it will be printed and the system exit status will be one (i.e., failure). ------------ The formula: >>> help(module.directive) works most of the time.

@Snuffy Doh! A lot of bootups comeup WB messages from RingHIO about it can't attach the HUB... Therefore, there's got be something wrong with the USB driver?
OMG, I got eat my words! I was verifying the above statement today to make sure I'm on the right track and was surprised. I just found-out my powered Belkin 4-Port USB Hub is dead! Huh? Lights are lit and every appears normal, but it's dead. Used a USB extension and the Port is good and connected to a USB flash-drive. There you go; you gotta get physical with the hardware! Anyone know what the life span of a powered USB hub is ?

@ll Wow, what a thread! Everyone here seems think PayPal, a subsidiary of EBay in the USA is evil. I've been a client for years. I have no idea where you get your information. I suspect it starts with as Joerg states: The main problem with PayPal is that most users don't read, or if they do don't understand, their TOS... Well, It's simply called a 'contract' of term$ ; who, what, when where, and how much, for how long, and why! I've used PayPal with AmigaKit for years and payed a lot of you developers donations with it, and bought stuff from all over the internet, and never a problem. But now, I'm getting a little perturbed by the these accusations.
Basically it's all a matter of how they should treat us (the association) regarding tax. When Amigabounty association was started I contacted Paypal and changed our status to non-profit and that's when the problems started. Exactly! It has nothing to do with commerce; revenue towards goods and services. Umm, who pays for Internet security services or anything else connected to the bounty maintenance? Did anyone discuss percentages on the bounty going towards the PayPal sevices? Hey, nothing gets done for free. I thinking of writing PayPal about this. It might be interesting to see what's the deal.

Hi @Chris
I have no idea whether this is a hardware or OS4 problem, but it seems to affect the top USB port only, even if a powered USB hub is attached as the first device. The bottom port works flawlessly (not sure about the front ones as I hardly ever use them) FWIW, since the beginning on the A1-XE/G4, Port 0=powered Hub and Port 1=Optical mouse. The front USB ports 2 and 3 are available. A peculiar behavior: If the machine is hard reset, Port 0 is totally lost for the rest of the day ( the capacitor problem), but Port 1 and mouse are OK. Ports 2 and 3 only need USB "restart" to regain use. However, this was fine before UpDate2 and RingHIO. Since UD2, USB is quite wobbly. A lot of bootups comeup WB messages from RingHIO about it can't attach the HUB. I have no idea what's the USB problems. I never had problems for years! Therefore, there's got be something wrong with the USB driver? Sorry no SAM info, just USB info.

@JosDuchIt can you give some explicit examples how you start or use curses?Try: import cursesBut, there's no module! It does not seem to have a gui, right ?It's a windowed terminal. Calendar seems to be only a printing appplicartion (no gui) right?It's a calendar program. I don't know about a 'printing appplication' ? What is ANN ?It's kind of a programmer's text editor called 'Annotate': http://www.onyxsoft.se/annotate.html I use it a lot for Python and SDLBasic scripts. Is anybody aware of a python GUI package or module that works under OS4? TkInter is in the 2.5.1 distribution but i can't get it to work. Because there's no 'module' -- the DLL of python. Python requires modules to to run stuff and there ain't that many. Sorry, but 'Gui4Cli' just doesn't work for me as a Python gui. An AmiCygnix interface/gui would be nice. That's why I mentioned "Curses". Did you know that there's a "PyGTK"? AmiCygnix already uses GTK-2.0. One only has to compile "PyGObj" to AmiCygnix to get PyGTK you would think. ?

@JosDuchIt
....you can use the GUi4Cli gui creation facilities to launch python scripts & make them interact through files, environmental variables. Really? I just make sure the 'tooltype' is Python and drop them in 'RamDisk' and click them; for example: Calendar.py I find "ANN" is my best friend interface for Python & scripting. Do you have any info on running a "Curses" terminal? It's all their in the Python:Libs/Curses.
