2009-07-30 : Alpha 55
- Blank personal message has been changed to "(click to set message)" so that the user
knows to click there to change it, but still trying to keep it small..
- Included a basic Listening To: ARexx script. Configure SimplePlay 3.7 to use it,
and then when SabreMSN is running your status will be updated with the music you're
currently listening to.
- Personal message is automatically changed back 8 minutes after displaying the
current media (listening to..) message. This is so that music replayers dont need
to send a blank MUSIC "" command to reset the values.
- Tweaked setting the "nick - personal message" field, with initial personal messages,
and when changing the display name. Might be less buggy now.
- Removed some debug output from the ARexx commands

- Fixed a bug in the Challenge response, that caused disconnection within a
minute of being connected to the server. Microsoft changed their replys from
a set size, to a variable size. My code wasnt equipped! Thank you to Mick
on www.amigaworld.net for single handedly figuring out my bug. Please direct
any SabreMSN donations to him for this release!
- Bugfix: Disconnection would occur when Sabre would connect and then attempt
to remove someone from a pending list, and onto other lists so you could
communicate. Unfortunately I had specified two different groups in the
remove command, which caused immediate disconnection. Thanks to Deniil for
reporting the issue, providing raw output, and then testing with me until
we fixed it.
- Your own Current Media information is now displayed in the personal message
space. Otherwise you'd play music and not know that your personal message
was currently showing the Current Media. Use the MUSIC ARexx command to tell
SabreMSN what music you're currently listening to. Hook this up to your music
players if possible.
- Option to play new message alerts only when the chat window is inactive

SabreMSN 0.55 - 2009-07-30 , minor tweaks
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

Updated: scroll down...

Battling poor eyesight, lack of time, and ((*censord*)) (dont censor me lol)-(I can and I will), jahc has finally churned out some more crap for you guys to play with. Still no file transfers, display avatars, or custom emoticons. Only jahcSoft makes it possible.

2009-07-19 : Alpha 52
- Can now type messages in the AROS version now without crashing. But Tabs
go crazy when they're enabled.. they refresh nonstop. Keep it disabled
for now. will work on it.
- Multi line messages from Sabre to Sabre work again.
- Personal messages in the contacts list arent in italics anymore, I
didnt like that anymore.
- "Current Music" information is displayed if your PC/Mac friends are
listening to music on their machines. It's a little buggy right now
though, it displays garbage for some of your online contacts, depending
on what platform they're using, etc.
- Added a new MUSIC command to set your Current Media personal music. It
currently only takes the name of the mp3, and unintelligently assumes that
everything after the last "-" character is the name of the song, but I'm
going to work on making it accept ARTIST and SONG values, so that proper
music programs that use id tags in MP3's can send that information to
SabreMSN.
- Added seconds to the 24hour timestamps, changed them to square brackets
- Changed the way messages are displayed. "jahc says:" is only displayed
once, and your messages appear underneath. Doesnt display another
"user says:" line until someone else types a message. Saves space!

If theres any problems, please email me. Grab it from the usual place..
http://wookiechat.amigarevolution.com

2009-07-19 : Alpha 53
- The feature for only displaying "user says:" information only once, used a
global string to store the nick that "last spoke", when I should have used
a seperate "last spoke" string for each individual tab. Fixed now!
- It appears I put version 51 of Sabre AROS in the last 52 archive!!!

WookieChat 2.12 beta 7 - 2009-07-12 - One minor feature + heaps of ZUNE fixes
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

Latest WookieChat: v2.12 beta 7 - 2009-07-12 - http://wookiechat.amigarevolution.com for AROS/MOS/OS3/OS4

BETA 7
- In Listview-style tabs mode, a label showing the IRC network name is now
displayed at the top of each set of tabs. Do I need to make it configurable
or adjust it somehow?
- The ugly Zune workarounds have been removed, and I'm now using a Page Group,
instead of MUIA_ShowMe TRUE/FALSE.. this method works well with both MUI
and Zune. AROS users, rejoice! Well, rejoice kinda, because it's very slow
under hosted+VESA. :( Zune isnt totally shutting up when you tell it to be
quiet.. (MUIM_InitChange and MUIM_ExitChange are weird in Zune.. I'll look
into getting it fixed though.)
- Hitting Enter in fields in the Servers window will now actually update the
display under Zune. It wasnt responding to the notification for each key
press, so hitting Enter is the new way for Zune users. And for MUI users,
the text will still be updated as you type.
- Various NList entries in Zune had a : character at the beginning of each
line. I think I've removed those now.
- Clicking on the Nick name button will now activate the "Change nick" string
gadget properly for Zune users.

@gurus2000

We have the same hardware, and mine was faster. I suspect it was because I saved mine to hard drive. They say that the RAM disk is marginally slower.
Edit: Oh.. apparently not. I dont want to spread mis-information.

RockBEAT + OS4 HW benchmarks (just for fun)
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

The question of "how much faster is the Sam 800mhz over the 667mhz" (etc) has made me think it'd be a cool/fun idea to post our Sam, and maybe Peg2/A1 benchmarks. In particular, RockBEAT benchmarks. When you save a song as a WAV, it mixes the instruments and bars, etc, then tells you how much time it took to make it happen.

The saving itself is not optimised yet, as I was concentrating on making it sound and save correct during development..

Lets all follow these steps, and post our benchmarks here:

1. Download the latest RockBEAT:
http://www.os4depot.net/?function=sho ... udio/tracker/rockbeat.lha

2. Download this example project file:
http://wookiechat.amigarevolution.com/rockbeat/testsong.rb

3. Open the project in RockBEAT, and once it has loaded, select from the Save pulldown menu.. "Save entire song as one file". Save it anywhere, enter a name such as "test.wav".

4. Paste your final Time Elapsed text in this thread with your CPU information.

I'll start the thread off with my own results:

Sam440ep 667mhz + 512mb RAM
Time taken: 00:03:32
(I'm running a debug kernel.. wonder if it slows things down at all?)

Whoops.. you've used two different terminologys.... you said NEWWINDOW, and new tab... which do you mean?

If there was a OPEN_IN_NEW_TAB command (although with a simplified name of course, I cant think of a short name), it would make my job even easier..

Latest WookieChat: v2.12 beta 6 - 2009-06-26 - http://wookiechat.amigarevolution.com for AROS/MOS/OS3/OS4

Minor bugfixes... except for compiling/linking the MorphOS binary properly again. Maybe for the first time since v2.11 beta 3 apparently?

Remember, the ugly Zune workarounds can be disabled in AROS with the ZUNE=FALSE icon tooltype, or the "nozune" switch in shell.. then you'll see exactly how WookieChat misbehaves under Zune. :(

BETA 6
- Nickserv and auto-join strings are now initialised when a new server tab is
created. So when you open a second server tab, and then connect to a second
server using the /server command, you dont get "cant join ?????" junk (etc)
once you've connected.
- Added a sanity check to the Connect function, to handle weird errors caused
by
adding servers/groups to your list. But if it's somehow triggered again, it
shouldnt crash.
- When you join a channel in the root tab, with server tabs disabled, it will
refresh the display. So joining a channel will now make the nicklist appear!
- MorphOS version works again! I wasnt compiling AND linking with -noixemul,
and it was causing weirdness. Graphical smileys, ASL requesters, and images
in the MUI Settings window will all work now. (Thanks itix!)
- Server messages are sent to the current tab now.. or if you're not viewing
that particular server, its sent to the root tab
- Made sure I dont set NList nicklist objects to quiet before adding entries if
the NList object is not visible. I modified it wrongly a few betas ago to try
and increase speed, and it seemed to cause a lockup every day or two.

OWB feature request: ARexx OPEN_NEW_TAB
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

If you had an ARexx command that would open a new tab, then that would allow me (and other external bookmark makers) to create an option to open all links in a current bookmarks group at the same time, similar functionality to Firefox.

I.e. "Amiga forums/news" Group.. it could open amiga.org, amigans.net, amigaworld.net, amigaweb.net, amiga-news.de, with one click in my bookmarks tool. no more manual loading sites one by one with tedious "open new tab", open bookmarks, click on the next link, etc.

I would LOVE this feature! I'm updating my bookmarks tool at the moment..

Let me know what you think.

@COBRA

Double clicking on the persons name in the contacts list will setup the switchboard again.. I'll try and fix that bug sometime. with the older protocol, if you had a switchboard session close, and you tried to re-open it or invite the person back more than once, it would disconnect you from MSN.. it was very very tricky. I'll have another look at it sometime, because its quite an annoying bug. I need to get my program up to version 1.0 !

Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

More "software" from me. It's another baby step, but we're still not quite there yet. I wouldnt bother with the AROS version at the moment (too crashy). I got it to run under Icaros VE 1.1.0, but it wants to die with the latest AROS components. I need to investigate further.

2009-06-23 : Alpha 51
- Fixed non-english characters throughout the program. (or so I hope!)
- The irrelevant field's from incoming message headers aren't displayed
in the chat window anymore. It used to display "Client name" fields, etc
from some people, etc.
- "Chat: Name (email@address.com)" is displayed in Window titlebar now
- The text object used to display the Connection status and when a "New
personal message" is set, is now clipped when the text is too wide
for the window. This will prevent the window from resizing by itself
when you set a new long personal message.
- Bugfix: When a user would add you, and Sabre would prompt you to ask if
you want to "Add them to your own list", the new updated MSNP11 adding
command wasnt properly formatted in Sabre 0.50, and it would just
disconnect you without adding the person.
- Personal messages are remembered when you quit, and set again the next
time you connect
- New option: Display only online contacts in your Contacts List
- New option: "Do not rename contacts locally when they change their names"
I added this because users can often rename themselves, and I often have
no idea who anyone is!
- codesets.library stuff isnt commented out for AROS anymore. And it seems
to work!
- AROS version is still very unstable. Crashes on exit and chat windows
opening sometimes. To be safe, I turned off tabs, and tabswindow, disabled
all the smileys, and set the stack value to a good size in the icon. Seems
better than before, but still not perfect. Isn't alpha software fun!!
Make sure you these icon tooltypes with AROS:
TABS=FALSE
TABSWINDOW=FALSE
stack size = 250,000

Re: How to use multimedia keyboard with Synergy?
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

@jahc

I just verified that it works with allkeys when connected directly to the sam... holy crap that was cool. I had my play/stop/next/previous/volume controls hooked up to SimplePlay! I think I might have to give the PC it's own keyboard and mouse soon.. I'm using the PC alot less now that OWB is getting cooler.

I suppose that because Synergy is a commodity, it cant be easily converted into accepting multimedia key presses? What would be involved? modifying os4's commoditys engine? modifying Synergy? both?
