@AmigOS

Hey there... Those parameters are Tool Types stored in the icon. What you do is right click on the monitor icon in SYS:Devs and choose Information. Then click on the Icon tab and you can edit and save the parameters there. Happy hunting!

New AmigaOS4 video editing tool release
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

My favorite AmigaOS4 video editing tool gets new features and bugfixes with version 2.0. I've made a couple of YouTube videos with earlier versions and plan to get busy making more with this new release. VideoClipper gives powerful control of ffmpeg (now instead of mencoder) to cut and join video clips and arrange their order, now with ability to do fades and other effects. You can advance forward by frame now (not as precise for going backwards, alas) so more accuracy for tighter edits. The program controls MPlayer via Arexx, and with advances in our video playback capability creating high-def videos are now easier to manage with our X1000. The VideoClipper interface now adds thumbnail images for in and out point of edits. Users can achieve some more sophisticated edits with the NLE within Blender, but VideoClipper is less taxing in some ways on our systems and provides quick-to-accomplish cuts-only editing that can be output to a variety of formats.

The new SMTube interface looks and acts like a browser so the single click to launch video seems OK to me. But I can deal with bit either way.

Of course I have various video files on hand here for testing, but where is a good source for downloading some test clips in various formats and resolutions for testing mplayer? Is there a particular video file or set of files that people are using for common testing? I have seen reference to a movie trailer.

Also, I am assuming the first beta that I have downloaded does not yet have Feanor optimizations yet, right? That's my understanding -- looking forward to seeing the project progress.

Very good and fast work! I have tested it here on my X1000, and have been able to play and download YouTube videos. There are some I cannot download or play, for example the official video of "Uptown Funk." But I think that might have been the same case with the old SMTube.

One thing different that creates a slight amount of extra effort for me: In the old SMTube I could set 360p streaming resolution and 720p resolution for downloads. Now I have to set 360 or 720 in a common place and change it for the operation I want to do. Not a big deal, but thought I would note the difference. As far as the new SMTube thinks, the download operation is just simply another player, I realize.

Also, the new browser interface is a bit pokey and it, like the old SMTube, does not always redraw itself when parts of the window get covered by another window. Probably a QT thing.

Anyway, thanks!

This is great! Looking forward to further developments. Is it likely or out of the question that the saving of videos still will be a feature? Thanks!

Now that Warp3D has been released for the newest RadeonHD cards, I no longer see the need of using the old 9200 or 9250 cards and these PCI-X adapters in the X1000 to run Warp3D. I have removed the whole contraption from my X1000 and have installed a new R9 270 card and the new Warp3D.

I have left my RadeonHD 6850 card in to drive my second display, but at present Warp3D operations are limited to the R9 270 only.

Oh, you make me so sad with this news! I left a post on that forum as well. I mightily appreciate smTube on my X1000. I have it set to stream videos at 360 but save them as 720, and I am all the time saving videos to watch at my leisure or often as I want on my X1000 with mplayer.

There are some tutorial videos and music videos I want, so saving like mad now, while this thing still works.

Re: MPlayer 6.3 on X1000

@LiveForIt

I am using MPlayer-GUI. Using compyuv and under size and aspect the off-centered fullscreen image happens regardless of whether I keep selections at default, 16:10, 16:9, 4:3, etc. Historically, I have had these at default.

Any other settings I should look at?

EDIT: Update and oops.... my bad. Had an errant screenmode promotion I forgot about. Was promoting mplayer fullscreen to 1650 wide when of course I wanted 1920. Sorry for false alarm and wasted time.

Kjetil, thank you for this work. Will make another small donation when I get paid next.

Performance on my X1000 is really solid with 720p playback now. With 1080 videos as expected, I can play some but a lot are too tough still. I expect less intensive codecs to be easier, and as I get time I will experiment with creating some clips from video footage I shoot.

One problem worth noting: Using any of the comp modes on my 6850 card, going full screen results in a display that is not centered on my 1920x1200 16:10 display. If 16:9 material, the black bar is at the top and the image is pushed all the way to the bottom and cropped some at the right. If 4:3 material, the black area is all to the left and the image all the way to the right. Setting I can change?

Also, OSD is not showing me time played/remaining, just a play arrow. Is this just me?

Thanks!

I have seen this same thing on my DOpus5 screen under FE. I turned off compositing for that screen and that went away. I have not seen it on Workbench with compositing on, however.

An OS4 version would be great. I tried the existing 68K version a little while back but some things went wonky. Would love to see it updated.

@LiveForIt

OK, thanks. Anxious to see what it can do.... specifically in conjunction with using VideoClipper to make videos. Once the arexx port was added I was in business and I was rather enjoying all the public beta testing happening before the whole project went behind closed doors because of the new dependencies on OS components not out for us commoners until now. Now I've got those things (Final Edition and latest RadeonHD driver).

For watching videos, my assumption is this will still have some trouble with many or most 1080p H.264 encoded videos, especially at 30fps but maybe at 24fps too. But for manipulating 1080p video that I originate here, I could probably get acceptable playback using an easier codec such as mjpeg or something else.

Anyway, will put it through the paces whenever it is available to me. Thanks for all your work.
