Haha "the Solie" hadn't even noticed that - it is the one thing I hate most amount using mobiles - Touchscreen aren't really my forté.

Sounds like some consolidation is order, perhaps it may be worth talking with the Solie about a sub-domain. open.amigaos.net springs to mind, personally I'd move OS4Coding there too can call it dev.amigaos.net or something.I
I guess it would depend who owns both of these auxiallary sites.

@LiveForIt

Really, its only a matter of time before it is phased out completely, Flash is being used less and less everywhere, all web developers I have ever spoken to always advise against its use when they speak with their clients. Its like pulling everyone away from using Internet Explorer, a long drawn out process.

@kas1e

Compare to 1.16.. no it was broken in that too.

Yes documentation says the new Arexx Port name is 'Odyssey', but in fact it is still set as 'OWB' - I know this because OpenURL has a gadget that detects open Rexx ports.

@kas1e

Struggling to get Odyssey to work with OpenURL in the same manner as previously.
Previously if the application was already open it would open a new URL in a tab, but at the moment its a completely new instance of Odyssey everytime.

'Rexx port now called Odyssey'

Except its not.. in OpenURL there is a gadget that lists currently available Rexx Ports.. it still reads as 'OWB'.

Compared to 1.16... no it was broken in that too.

@broadblues

FireFox (my preferred browser) and Timberwolf both manage it okay, I don't know about Chrome.

I tell you one thing that has always annoyed me with OWB is the question "Do you want to save these credentials?" for username and passwords.

It always asks you before the attempt to e.g. log-in, 9 times out of 10 you want to save the credentials afterwards once you know they are actually correct!

@sicky

In menu go to Windows/Scripts add and enable YouTube.js. Go to www.youtube.com/html5 select big button to confirm you want to use HTML5 playback. Finally pray that it works.

Personally, I don't have sound atm.

I said: 1) SHIFT+HOME doesn't select all text in the address bar so I have to keep using the mouse.

Quote:

Mui settings/keyboard/Marking. By default alt in use for marking (i asking Thore for shift as default too, but there was reasons for alt), but you can just choice shift in keyboard prefs

Well that sucks :)

I said: 2) View/Status and other options above, the state of these checkmarks are never auto-saved/remembered.

Quote:

That how it done originally.

Yes, I expected this to be one for Fab.

I said: Its frustrating to see it keep re-appearing (them ghastly colours) + should be hidden by default.

Quote:

I don't have re-appearing of ghastly colours, all looks ok when i just enable/disable status.

I am referring to the status bulbs/lights in the bottom right off the end window, the network activity LEDS, its very retro.

Quote:

I said: 3) The new Web Inspector button in the top toolbar can clearly seen to be 2 pixels small in height + should be using 'info' in AISS/TBImages.

Quote:

I use morphos's images, pretty possible one need some redraw for os4.

Ok.

4) When only one tab is open I wish Odyssey/MUI did not extend the width of it across the whole window it looks very unsightly.

Quote:

You can setup tabs as you want in mui prefs (groups). Include new option "hide single tabs"

Hmmm, I see, perhaps this should be checked by default in MUI. Or they create reasons for us to register a keyfile! :)

5) When iconified a regular MUI 'window' appears as an icon. I believe this is called an 'AppIcon'? Clearly this needs to be replaced with the Odyssey logo. Which raises the question - 'What is the official logo for Odyssey?' The blue one or the compass?

Quote:

Blue one from mason , for os4 users, original one compas.

Ok.

7) Digging deeper.. if you type 'about:' in address bar and press enter the program information is out of date.

Quote:

If you didn't have 1.23 (25.12.2013) version then possible i just forgot to overwrite by new about.html

Ok.

10) Finally, now that videos work. Do you know whether Odyssey respects the ScreenBlanker engine? i.e. if watching along video the screenblanker should not appear.

Quote:

I do not know too. I didn't add any code related to screenblankers, and morphos related code related to screenblankers also disabled. I for myself have disable screenblankers in os4 at all, as they always give problems.

Ok, yes I turn it off sometimes too.

Re: Odyssey 1.23 progress

All in all Odyssey 1.23 is great, only problems I can find are minor ones.

1) SHIFT+HOME doesn't select all text in the address bar so I have to keep using the mouse.

2) View/Status and other options above, the state of these checkmarks are never auto-saved/remembered. Its frustrating to see it keep re-appearing (them ghastly colours) + should be hidden by default.

3) The new Web Inspector button in the top toolbar can clearly seen to be 2 pixels small in height + should be using 'info' in AISS/TBImages.

4) When only one tab is open I wish Odyssey/MUI did not extend the width of it across the whole window it looks very unsightly.

5) When iconified a regular MUI 'window' appears as an icon. I believe this is called an 'AppIcon'? Clearly this needs to be replaced with the Odyssey logo. Which raises the question - 'What is the official logo for Odyssey?' The blue one or the compass?

7) Digging deeper.. if you type 'about:' in address bar and press enter the program information is out of date.

8) From a web developer POV... selecting to view the source code of a page... it takes a long time for the actual source code to appear. I can assume that the syntax highlighting needs optimizing further.

9) Topsites:// wow really like this.. reminds me of Opera in some ways. However, in Grid mode, the contents of the 'page' need to be centred horizontally. In Coverflow mode the contents of the 'page' are centred (great), but is there any chance that the middle image (the one selected) can be made any larger? This could be fixed by introduced a new resolution to pick from in the drop-down menu.

10) Finally, now that videos work. Do you know whether Odyssey respects the ScreenBlanker engine? i.e. if watching a long video the screenblanker should not appear.

So yeah very minor things so far.. apart from no.1.

So congratulations to all involved :)

I realise that not all of the above apply exclusively to the AmigaOS port - now I am off to read kas1e's reply.

I'll repeat my ideas from over a year on this board.

A WordPress website with a popular crowd funding plugin (e.g. Ignition Deck) so you can mimic the functionally and design quality of something alng the lines of Kickstarter.
Alternatively use Kickstarter itself, awareness, engagement and trust are already much better.
If you go the self-crowdfunding route the Theme needs to look modern to appeal to today's users, I stress 'today's users' as the site should continually attempt to engage with people outside the community.

@Fab

You could be right about it not being directly an Odyssey bug, but a newly introduced MUI4 one. If my imagination is not playing tricks on me I saw it happen elsewhere.

Re: AmiDock.....Huh?

You can't, its a limitation within current AmiDock. All sub-docks use absolutely positioning, they do not take a relative position from their 'parent'.
I hope AmigaOS 4.2 fixes this as its very very lame, I think its fair to say that AmiDock falls short in many areas.
