@Skov

And of course I find it mere minutes after posting...

Oh well... Can someone tell me how to shut down UAE after use?

I always play in full screen mode and I don't know how to quit the program...

At the moment I am running .28, but I would like to try out the 0.29 WIP3 version. However, I can't find it anywhere?

Re: AmigaInput OS4.1 (sorta SOLVED)

@Hitman

Latest news! I have my joystick working now... at least it seems so!

The solution is weird and I hope that some of you can be able to explain it.

I just bought a kvm switch so the Amiga and the Mac can share the same keyboard and mouse. This is usb-connected.

Previously I used a ps2-keyboard and mouse on the Amiga.

Now if I boot with the USB-keyboard attached (directly or through the switch) I first get the usual uboot message about missing keyboard.

But when in workbench. I can simply plug in the joystick - and it works!!! Every time.

So - at least on the micro - boot with usb keyboard - insert joystick after boot - and play...

But why?

AmigaInput OS4.1 (sorta SOLVED)
Just popping in
Just popping in

Yesterday I bought a very cheap joypad hoping to use with E-UAE and other games.

But things haven't been going according to plan.

When I plug it in the micro it is instantly recognized as a joypad. If I start a E-UAE game it also says "USB joystick found 2axis 12 buttons etc."

But the joystick can't be used...

In AmigaInput the joystick is listed under USB, but I can't calibrate it...

However, I have twice been able to calibrate the joystick in Input, save the settings and use it in UAE.

But after reboot - it doesn't work again.

So, I know that the cheap joypad can work - I just don't know how I get it to do so!

Status: It has worked three times now... Out of 25 or so...

Please advice

Doesn't work... It crashes...

Would it help to see crashlogs?

Oh, I am running WIP4... should I go back to WIP3?

LATEST NEWS - download .28 instead of .29... and it works! Great!

And Amigainput works with this nice joypad I bought!

Can anyone get E-UAE to run on OS4.1?

Mine crashes everytime... First it gives a DSI-error and then - after pressing ignore - an ISI-error...

I've tried increasing the stack to over 500000...

What to try next, guys?

@LyleHaze

It didn't work - in fact it gave quite a scare!

I couldn't change to "Best PIO". That option wasn't there. Only a list of DMAD 1-5 or something

I did change the IRQ to off for that device.

After reboot the Amigaone went straight to insert disc-screen!!!

After putting the old cd-rom back and restoring factory settings all was fine

@LyleHaze

This sounds a bit tricky to me, but I am willing to give it a try.

I have the hd as master and the cd-rom as slave. I put the dvd in as slave instead of the cd-rom.

Could you - or someone else - perhaps make a step by step guide to doing this in uboot and in user-startup.

REALLY don't want to mess things up!

OS4.1 questions and strange things
Just popping in
Just popping in

Hi guys,

First of all - OS4.1 is great. It is very stable and it runs fast and nice on this micro.

However, I have some - well, a lot - questions that I hope you'll be able to answer...

1. I really - REALLY - like those transparent windows. So I want to keep them on despite just having the Radeon 7000.
- So I have made my Workbench run on a nice 1280x960 at 16 bit.
- I have set the window redraw to simple in GUI prefs.
- Realistic bitmap-shadow is set to OFF, while Layers is set to ON.
- In Workbench prefs I have reduced the quality of icons from "best" to "good"

Now, can I do more to save Video mem without losing my nice screenmode and the transparent windows? Or is some of my changes needless?

2. I still have strange behavior from my internet connection. Sometimes it doesn't connect right and tells me it can't find the host.
- If I then go to internet prefs and first uncheck DHCP and check it again it resets my connection and everything is fine.
- However, after reboot all is wrong again.
- This behavior was there all saturday. Then it worked perfectly at boot sunday morning and midday. And now it's back acting strange.
- Never had this behavior with OS4.

3. I'll be moving to a new apartment in november and it looks like I might have to use wifi on the AmigaONE.
- What options do I have?
- I did check Amigakit but they didn't seem to have solution at hand.

4. Also, I never really bothered to connect a joystick to the micro as I heard AmigaInput was a bit flaky.
- Now it's back in OS4.1. Can I just buy a USB joystick from an Amiga dealer and expect it to work with UAE and other games?

5. Okay - the last one - and a strange one. Before installing OS4.1 I put some more ram in the Micro. It only has a basic cd-rom drive so I decided to put a pioneer 105 DVD-RW in there instead.
- In uboot it was recognise perfectly - pioneer and everything.
- However, in Workbench it would load ANY discs at all.
- I tried to run the update from the DVD - it booted fine until the new bootscreen - then it gave up and loaded OS4 and again it couldn't read the disc.
- The old cd-rom got back in and that worked, of course.
- What's wrong?

Well, I guess that's all for now! I'll thank you in advance for your always nice and clever answers!

OS4.1 internet trouble (not SOLVED)
Just popping in
Just popping in

Tomorrow turned out to be later this day... After a soft reboot the internet connection was down again. Still, after changing the settings in internet prefs to something wrong, and changing them back again, everything worked.

Can anybody tell me a solution so that OS4.1 will have net at boot and not after a shutdown fra netprefs each time...

--

Well, there you go. I managed to get OS4.1 to restart the tcp-stack and everything is online again... We'll see tomorrow, then

--

Hi guys,

I can't get OS4.1 to connect to the internet...

It used to work perfectly on 4.0...

I ran a clean installation and it went through the settings perfectly.

- Router (ethernet no ppp)
- Automatic
- AmigaOne built-in
- Check try dynamic
- Complete

This is what I had on OS4 and it seemed to work here. It told me that I got an IP-adress and that it would be renewed when needed.

But today - it doesn't... Simplemail can't connect and neither can Ibrowse. It can't find the DNS or something...

What to do?

Re: Sam 440 Flex board?

I wouldn't exactly mind a nice Sam - that mac-like case that Acube has looks very pretty.

However, I have only just bought 512 mb of ram for the micro this monday (waiting for delivery along with OS4.1) so I don't think I have money right now.

So, I still think that my 800mhz with the extra ram will see me through the following year. Also, the girlfriend already thinks I am spending too much money on this!

If only I could use a better graphics card more easily...

But I will say this - The Sam is not expensive - not by Amiga standards.

I paid about 1000 euro for my micro with 256mb, 80gb hd, cd-rom and case... So I would buy the Sam in an instant if I hadn't got an AmigaONE already.

@Skov

The keyfile I got from the coder worked perfectly.

If people are interested I will distribute the keyfile so everyone can enjoy the full game.

Of course I'll write and ask permission first, but it shouldn't be a problem.

Os4.1 on the way! Yay! And help!

Just got a mail from Alinea that they shipped OS4.1 and 512mb to me!

Now, when I receive the package I will get started right away, but I want everything to work, so I was hoping some of you could if this would work.

1. Install ram, test with os4

2. Work: is already SFS, but I want Workbench: to be as well

3. Backup Workbench:

4. Use Mediatoolbox to change to SFS - something I should be aware of here?

5. Quick format Workbench:

6. Boot from OS4.1 disc

7. Install "clean"

8. Enjoy?

@Thematic

Well, most importantly you can't save your game... which would be nice as it takes quite a few hours to get through WW1...

Then only two missions are available to play (out of nine) and you can access the tables that show you which troops are best in which enviroment.

There are a couple more...

It runs very fast though. Even on my 060 it took some time to figure out its moves. On the AmigaONE - few seconds...
