I think it still has a place and a purpose, though. People might have a large library of CD's they would like to listen to on modern digital playback equipment or in the car (or on their Amiga's )

I'm still a generation behind that. I have a lot of vinyl I need to digitize first. I'd like to transfer it in full glory to CD's first, and then go to MP3 from there for car and Amiga. I'd buy the new version, bottom line.

As far as the p5020sata.device goes, I'd be doing these gradually enough, that I won't mind changing the tool type in the current ADRipper for each session.

@trixie

Thanks for the earlier heads up about installing AISS. I thought I had done that. But obviously not. Hard to keep straight what I've done with the XE and what I've done with the 5000.

I just saw in the documentation that you are the current maintainer of ADRipper. Cool! Thanks for your work. Now that I have used it to (re)rip the same CD a few times, I've found that I can manually change track titles, even though this disk wouldn't auto populate the disk info. I've also checked the box to add a file extension for .mp3. I think that might be what got the files to start playing in AmigaAmp.

And having played around more with the prefs in AmigaAmp, I now have everything working as it should be. After falling away from the Amiga when my A1-XE was dying, I'm getting to be more and more happy with my X5000.

@trixie

Thanks for the continuing followup.

By checking the CDx: drive number in SysMon , then changing the tooltype in ADRipper, I have succesfully ripped one CD. Clicking on the MP3 file icon of a track plays it.

Now I need to figure out the syntax for pulling up files in the AmigaAmp3 playlist. I can drag'ndrop files from the ripped files drawer and they play, but I can't figure out how to get the sound files to show from the file requester.

@Thematic

When I start adripper I get a message that says:

"ADRipper Error
Unable to find or create image!"

Changing the tooltype to FORCEDEVICE=CD2: didn't do anything in ADRipper.

Adding the line FORCEDEVICE=p5020sata.device did not help any in ADRipper.

PlayCD is where I renamed the tooltypes to:
DOSDEV=CD2:
DEVICE=p5020sata.device

at whichpoint PlayCD started working.

BTW, the CD2: is the way my drive shows up in SysMon

I tried to get adripper going, after I got CDPlayer to work using some imaginitive device renaming for the CD/DVD drive. But no matter what tool types I add to the adripper icon, I can't get it to recognize the (commercial) music CD in the drive.

I remember there are issues with optical drive recognition with the X5000. I currently have the DVD drive as the second device on the p5020sata.device. Is there a way to get this working with adripper? Maybe put the DVD on my Sil sata card? But then can I still boot from CD/DVD?

As soon as the window appears on the screen, the mouse frezes and I neeed to reboot with the case reset button. I just had it running maybe a week ago. I'm showing version 53.65 for Updater on my X5000.

Any ideas what I can do? I've tried 4 times now always with the same result. Nothing else running at the moment.

Thanks.

@Lio

Thanks, Lio. I looked at what Gazelle wrote, and downloaded the converter and tried to use it. But it had a complaint about an illegal character set being listed in one of the lines of my exported address book.

I only have about 60 entries. Just as easy to do it by hand.

Thanks for the link.

Simplemail address book format?
Quite a regular
Quite a regular

I am hoping to import my addres book from Windoze Thunderbird to Simplemail. But none of the formats which I have exported from Thunderbird will import. Comma delimited, tab delimited, LDIF and Vcard were all EXported from Thunderfbird and taken over to the Amiga. But none of them will IMport.(well, I didn't really expect Vcard to do anything...)

Do any of you know definitively what format the Simplemail Address book is?

I switched my FFS partition over to SFS00. But I get the same DSI followed by the same ISI on there, too.

Maybe you should first try logging into your goggles accounts and making sure they all work. ....before trying to sync?

Did that... I was able to navigate around my account page and go to the calendar page at google from Odyssey. I ran the script Andy has in the CalDAV folder and it got all the way through getting the credentials. It just can't finish syncing them with AOrganiser.

I think I have Odyssey spoofing as ipad. At least I do with beta 7. Even lets me use Facebook that way with beta 7.

I solved the earlier problem with getting into Google by using the older release version of Odyssey, rather than beta 7.

Having said that, I can get through the entire process of syncing with Google up to the final step. I tell it to start the sync after getting the credentials sucessfully, and then get a busy pointer indefinitely on the Diary window. I've let it sit for several hours waiting for my Google calendar info to show up. Nothing ever happens after that point.

Andy? Anyone else?

Thanks

I just set up the release version of Odyssey, and it DOES let me log in to Google. So it's something in the beta that's not working.

Almost had AOrganniser set up to share my Google calendar when a DOS window popped up saying the process could not find the AREXX host. So near but yet so far!

Paul

SORRY!! I must have hit edit rather than reply. Original post is gone now. Basically I was just asking what the title says.

@smf

First try was with NGFS. But I have a small partition with FFS which I tried it from too. I could switch that little partition to SFS and see if it helps.

@walkero

What computer are you trying to run it on? When I try to run Timberwolf on my X5000, I get a DSI after a few seconds of the splash screen. I dismiss the DSI, and then instantly get an ISI. It used to run on my A1-XE. But no more here.
