Re: OS4 final and AmiSSL

@ZeroG

Yep I have noticed that and tried to change the case in the startup sequence, that's why you can see an AmiSSL assign in my shell output above. As you can see that does not change anything...

And are you telling me that Amiga volume name is becoming case sensitive ?

@Raziel

I don't see anything interfering with AmiSSL assign...
Let's see the following snapshot :
Resized Image

Snoopy does not say much, except that an AWeb Retreive task is trying to access AmiSSL:certs

Re: OS4 final and AmiSSL

@Raziel

This is here the best part : those AmiSSL that already exists is not created by me, it comes from the startup-sequence (see line 22). What I don't understand is why if there is already an assign it keeps on demanding it ? Also I have noted it's only once by session (i.e. time between reboots).

OS4 final and AmiSSL
Quite a regular
Quite a regular

Can somebody explain me why (using AWeb) each time I come to this website (that's not the only one, but this is the one I come more often I have a requester to insert 'AmiSSL:' in any drive ?
That's strange because all I have to do is to click on the "Assign" button, then in the ASL requester, I right click to view volumes and assigns list and I always select my assign called AmiSSL
That wasn't the case before adding the paypal donation button and wasn't the case with previous updates either...

Re: cpuinfo_docky.lha upload still pending?

@joerg

thank you !! It has already found its way into my amidock
Just do you think it would be possible not to draw the two % usage and have a tooltype to choose between
something like :
DISPLAY_PERCENT=NONE|BOTH|TOTAL|FILTERED

this way someone can choose not to display percentage at all, display both (it's actual display), only the total (what you get without filtering), or only the filtered percentage (i.e. percentage after removing the tasks to filter out).

This would clarify the display a bit...

@COBRA

I second COBRA's request, if thoses dockies wouldn't always show me 100% usage, I would use them.
For this to be done, docky should be able to filter out some task(s) (now it's dnetc for COBRA and me, but this could be anything else that works in the bg for someone else).
Even if I understand that the true CPU usage is really 100% everytime, it's the purpose of such utilies that installs during idle time, so I'm aware of this fact, instead I would be interested in knowing what CPU usage anything else is taking. If such option would be added I would find an interest in thoses dockies, without they are of no use for me : I have dnetc launched all the time on my A1....

Re: Mouse wheel support on classic programs

@Severin

Seems the source code of FreeWheel is available, so if a problem is detected, one can eventually correct it (theorically it should even be possible to directly support OS4 mouse events without the IPrefs's NEWMOUSE option).

@TetiSoft

Ok thank you for the information.
Altough that was IMHO a good idea to have such functions, because as I understood it (and my version of autodocs is stating) the Forbid/Permit couple is something to avoid and can also cause problem parallel computing environment.

@Tetisoft

I have another one, reading Exec.library/FindPort, I can read :
Quote:

From V50 onwards, the method of protecting the access through
ObtainSysList/ReleaseSysList is prefered to Forbid/Permit locking.

but I did not found any of those ObtainSysList()/ReleaseSysList() methods, so what one should do ?Still use Forbid/Permit or anything else ?

Re: Where is the SDK?

@ssolie

In fact after the latest SDK update, gdb tends to be really unreliable on my system whereas I was pretty solid before.
It seems that almost every time I try to attach a crashed process to gdb via GrimReaper either my whole machine hangs, either gdb prints strange error messages asking to contact GNU authors... Really annoying, so now when a program crashes I reboot, launch a shell, then relaucnh the soft inside gdb and try to reproduce the crash (most of the time I'm unable to

@TetiSoft

Was just reading the CatComp documentation and found a (very) small problem in it but I guess this comes from CVS :
Quote:

## rcsid $Date: 2005/12/08 19:01:33 $ $Revision: 1.10 $
## name myprogram.catalog

The above will embed "$VER: myprogram.catalog 39.1 (31.7.92)" inside of the
message catalog.

See the incoherence in the date ? Also two lines above where the format is presented CVS seems to have expanded it so one won't see the format but two times an example...

Re: telnetd not working

@Valiant

I have tried to used telnetd and wasn't able to set it up correctly. I managed to be granted a login but nothing came after this (i.e. the telned console was empty).
I guess what you are missing is the AmiTCP: assign where telnetd is looking for some things... And also you should add a user into the file Devs:Internet/Users, this user should have a password and a shell.

I did this research because at one point I wanted to port a telnetd to OS4, but before the 68k version should work almost reliably to show a bit of feasability. But it was with no luck, especially when I could not be able to make the 68k version to work at all, I gave up the telnetd port

I have some sort of the same problem problem here, with my PS2 Logitech Cordless Desktop Optical Keyboard/Mouse combo, except that I thought I had to click in order to give the focus to wb. Will try to "only" move the mouse to see if it works too....

Maybe you can try to flush the output before closing the printer, just add :
fflush(printer);

before the fclose line.

@TetiSoft

Ok, that's just a thing one should know (I verified on my A1200 keyboard and noticed that he had the tilde on that position, what a pity after "only" 3 years with my new A1 I forgot the layout of my good old Amiga keyboard that I used for almost twenty years

Thank you for your patience.

@TetiSoft

Thank you for looking at MicroGoldED, I'll try to contact Dietmar, I've had contact with him in the past, hope he could guide me for this.

About the tilde on the superscript key, that's really strange because I've never seen that on french PC keyboard, I've just done a quick review of the nearly 40 PC french keyboards we have here at my work and did not saw any with this tilde thing. Moreover, are you saying that on a PC using shift+superscript should produce a tilde ? I've tested on this XP box and that's not the case... Very strange, I'll try to see if I can find some information about that.

PS: I'm not trully honest with you, all keyboards I reviewed only had superscript on this key, except two keyboards : one had a 'n' printed above the superscript sign, and the other was the worst of all and just put the ecute key at this place giving the following layout : ecute (+numer 2), superscript, arobas (+number 1), quotaion mark(+numer 3), and then normal layout

@TetiSoft

Thank you for your quick answer, I didn't even of a french keyboard having as many tilde
In fact on the keyboard I'm using right now at work, the only one which is mentionned is the one on the eacute key, my <superscripttwo> mention just that (the superscript two), like my 'j' key that mention only the 'j'...
About the combining possibilities I'll check but I would have sworn that I already used the dead circ combinated with e to produce the eCirc (ê).

BTW CubicIDE can be tried using the demo version from the author's site.

@TetiSoft

As your are speaking of keyboards here, I'll ask you to explain how I can do to obtain the character '~' in CubicIDE : I've noticed that the character won't be issued under the editor while it's being displayed and i can copy/paste an existing one where I want.
(BTW, I'm using a french keyboard with euro where the character is a dead key you can acces using Alt+2 then space. I have to mention that it's working in the shell, does the programmer have something to setup/do ?)

Re: Beta & Preview: 32-bit Masonicons for Envoy

@Slash

I wasn't a fan also at first sight (as I wasn't when I first saw OS 3.5 GlowIcons), but I have come to the point where I appreciate them now and I must admit that they give the OS a fresh 'more up to date' look (i.e. thoses (standard) GlowIcons would have an outdated look for anyone outside the Amiga community).
I still have problem with some icons like the new Notepad, and filetype icons for example are a bit too bright to my eyes and does not really distinguish from the background (especially the default white windows' brackground). Maybe a frame around them or a darker border may help the most blurry ones (drawers for example) ?

*But* in the end I really like the new look globally and I'm eagerly waiting for you (Mason) to release some more (especially devs tools, and also some colored drawers (I like to classify my drawers which don't have a specific drawing by a different color).

PS: can you do more differentiated drawers icons between the 'docs' one and the 'sources/log/script' one ? They are hardly recognizable atm (only the holes at the sides are different but they are hardly noticeable).

PPS: to prevent me from ending on a negative note, I'll say again that I love your work Mason

EDIT mostly typo
