Re: New little commoditie (can be usable)

@samo79, djrikky

There is also one more alt+tab swither, called WindowThumbs. Its can handler alt+tab too, also can works as commoditie, but not only swith beetwen windowses as my one, but spawn a graphical line, with thumbs. Pretty good one, but not reactive fast in some place (expectually when you choice SCALE options), for better thumbs look.

@djrikki

:) That old song about making WB better, but we can only hope, or do those sucking little commodities which will help a bit :)

Imho Hyperion developers can add to FKEY one more options like "swith beetwen windowses", and add the same code as i do. So, users can set any key-combo for that, and while it will be not eye-candy, it will works (better than nothing).

The changes in the AmiFig SVN repository are happening so fast that it is difficult to keep up at this point. However, in the current code the file win_zoom.c needs an additional include to compile on my SAM Flex because of the added zoom magnification control gadget:
#include <intuition/gadgetclass.h>

Yes, i already said that to Yannick 2 days ago, and he add that, but later, in new commit , he remove that (i think because he just messing with other win_zoom file). I will ask him again about that.

Quote:

Because my change that eliminates the screen name as the first argument when calling fig2dev has not been added

Hm.. I send for him all the changes which you send for me.
Looks like he just missed that part. Can you please send exactly part of code with that changes, and i again will annoy him about.

Quote:

I decided to create a script to intercept the F2D call and forward the correct commands to fig2dev. I will send you the script. Since AROS uses the FIG2DEV.lua script for export they may have chosen not to change the code. That lua script may work with OS4 if "lua.lha" from OS4Depot is installed. However, I wrote a short AmigaDOS script as an alternative which I will send to you attached to a private email.

Maybe for keeping "the same" for everything, better to say for users "install lua.lha from os4depot" ? To avoid different mess.

Did you check btw those Lua scripts, will they work on aos4 ? Or maybe there something aros specific in it ?

@fingus

For me FF in current state absolutly unusable. You can load one-two sites and then crashes heavy :)

Realted to OWB , there is nothing what we can change. Joerg say pretty clear, that he will not add anything to OWB, because if was designed not for desktop browser :) Only if anyone else will start to works on it, or maybe someone will port Fab's OWB from MorphOS. But its indeed sad .. OWB on OS4 in current stage are very cool. Sadly if it will dead-end :(

@djrikki

Nope :) Still nothing like atl+tab or kind. For closing the windowses and for switch beetwen screens FKEY can be used, but for swithting beetwen windowses - nothing by default.

On os4depot there is 2 more utilityes which trying to use that alt+tab feature, but i dont like them much. My one without any graphics/thumbs, just fast switching.

New little commoditie (can be usable)

I upload on os4depot first version of my old commoditie from os3.x, which just emulate few win32 hotkeys and actions:

atl+f4 - close current window/app (by emulating of close gadget by input.device).

alt+tab - switch beetwen windowses and make every new active/brintofront. (if you use amidock, then you should have in Layout/Placement: Normal or Always on TOP, not always in background).

alt+shift+tab - swith beetwen screens.

You can run it as well from shell just a it : then you can ctrl+c it or you can run it to backgorund by run >NIL: or &

Test it plz, and if question/problems will occur write here. Also maybe some of you will be in interest to have more hotkeys added to it. I.e. feel free to discuss that crap :)

@fingus

You also need to read his comment too, where he say, that he not have any interes in making OWB as real browser with features, and he want to stay it the same as it now. Without adding anything. And that it not because of our comments, but because he think that OWB should not have any features, because it was developed only as core, without any GUI. We ask from him, why you then add those buttons, and alt ? On which he say "only because we not have FF for now, but OWB was done only while there is no FF".

So, you can be sure, loosing of interest to develop of OWB, not because of our comments, but because of Joerg wish from the begining.

@alfkil??
Tested new version: run the db101 binary (wihtout setting of BP), then exit from db101. Select HelloWord, run, and crashes in the elf.library.kmod. But i think it is ok if you say that its buggy in public versions for now ..

@salass00

Btw, on your site, ptplaplay_lib.lha have inside ptplay.library of 40.780 size
But in the ptreplay.library you also have ptplay.library , which are 40.824 of size. Which one are newer ?

@Antique
If no sound , install medplayer.library + mem-handler (for meds) and ptplay.library + ptreplay.library (for mods).

@Snuffy
You are wrong, that demo not use SDL for sound at all. Amidark plays mods over ptreplay.library + ptplay.library , and plays meds over medplayer.library + mem-handler.

@Freddix
I think it ask for medplayer (even if you not use it), because imho you have it opened in AmiDark on the init state maybe ?

Also imho you need add checking in AmiDark on "If no xxxx.library are present, then spawn a window with words "please install xxxx.library" and do correct exit from program). (to avoid problems with not understanding why no sound here and alt).

@328gts

Run it from icon or from shell ? What say GR (need it only stack trace) ? Did you delete old preferences file before running the new version ? Are you unpacking all the stuff in new directory ? Did you have reboot before testing (just to be sure, that there was no problems with other programs before) ? And how crash happens, you run it, and program not spawn anything but crash ?

@samo79
Check plz revision 191 on SF, it is the same translation or you add something else ?

@TSK

When you not have mem-handler, then medplayer.library will say you before crash that you dont have mem-handler (tested before). That mean our crashes not because of that :( (my ones for sure:) )

@ssolie
Did you want that users will more lick ass of developers, and will add for every phrase "please, you rulz, you awesome" and then it will be not insulting ?:)Because for me, all in that topic for now are constructive talks.

OWB on os4 are fast, good, and (thanks for Joerg (some lick) ) it better than nothing, i use it everyday (and right now too), but, with download manager and few more features it will be much-much better. We always say all of this in last time, just in hope, that Joerg will read all of this, and will think (someday, maybe) "well, maybe they right, lets be owb was no planned for that and that, but maybe for me will be no big deal just add for them easy download manager, maybe that is not so big/unreal/amazing problem".

Are you not agree, and i insulting too ?:)

@samo79

Will be nice to have even our current version of OWB (when you want speed/light/fast browser), and TimberWolf, which imho, will be not so fast, not so light, and will anyway have more bugs (because its beast).

I am just about that dropping owb developming in this current (good/fast/not_so_many_bugs) state , will be not so good.. And we still not known how good (or bad) will works MUI version of OWB on os4 ..

What happenes with all that "download manager" talks ? If i remember right, someone already do it, and contact with Joerg ..

@orgin

Yep, you are right. I just not write here because i think salas00 already read our comments on os4depot (just not want annoing too much:) )

@salas00
It is possible to do it as orgin suggested on os4depot ? Also maybe you can add a key which will say "not show icon on WB" (because it will a bit annoing when you will mount files many times , and close filers, and icons will always spawns/removes).

Also i think that when (if) you will add that, it will bring some motivation to Orgin to add some more features from his todo list when he will integrate your fs :)

@freddix

For me it runs, all is fine, but on exit i have GR. Ignore DSI give more heavy GR, which cant be ignored and only reboot are help. I think its still the same problem which i have with newer versions of amidark. And i think its the same problems for Crhis and Murakami (on amiga-ng.org) about which we talk with you few days ago.

But demo itself looks pretty nice. Very shadowthebeast :) And its very smooth. Hope you (with our help) can fix all that bugs , and we can make some nasty demos :)

I am in interest: will the new shell have the same limitation ? I think its CON/KCON limitations, so new shell (if it will based again on CON), will have those limits too (if CON will not overwriting totaly with adding prefs for).
