So what would be the downside of using the old Elbox drivers instead of the newer OS4?

@All

Cheers.
I'm sat here at home waiting for delivery of a PPC.
Will start looking into some of this stuff in preparation.
1st a PPC board and then OS4, looking good.
Keep me out of mischief for a while anyway.

@Swoop

I know about that site.
I was hoping for a bit of head start and install what people considered the best of that site for instance.

Now OS4 is on the way for classic owners there could be a group of people in the same boat as myself.
I am keen to try OS4 but have no idea about what's available for it software wise.
Perhaps we could use this thread to startup a list of OS4 software that users think is a must.
Maybe add a brief explanation as to what it does.

That's good news.
Have bidded for and won a PPC on ebay recently.
Just waiting for it to arrive. (Fingers crossed.)
Not having OS4, I don't know a great deal about it or Petunia.
Intend to set up my system to run both OS3.9 and OS4.
But from what I have read here, may not have to boot up 3.9 quite as often as I first thought.

Does anyone know what the advantages are to installing this over just accessing Bitlbee through an the IRC server?
Have looked through the docs but nothing jumps out at me.

@Severin

I didn't realise.
I just saw what looked like IRC transports and thought, I could use these.
Cheers.

Looks handy being able to chat on the various chat protocols using the one software package.
Have read throught the instructions but can't get my head around sending or receiving messages to irc.
Jabber itself seems straightforward and there are instructions for MSN and some others but not irc.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.
