"already done" would have been "is ported" or "has been ported".

Yep, i understand its the same, and its reasson why i say that its to early to say like something already done :) By this words i understand that it in plans/plannig, but all of this are hi-priority for now.

@djrikki

wiki.amigaos.net looks pretty cool ! Btw, for "developer" section you can add "db101" debugger (it's aos4 only and aos4 specific debugger). If you in interest, i can make a screenshot of latest version in action for you.

No. "plans" means they expect to work on it in the future. "porting now" means they are actively working on it - which they are! Yes, they are at the design/exploration phase (*), but that is part of the coding process too.

I like your optimism, hope it will pretty fast by developing, fast by speed in end, and without too much bugs and problems :)

ps. Just some english specific question : did "being ported" words mean "already done" , or it mean "in the developing for now" ?

Hans mentioned he was looking at it months ago, if you combine his expertise on graphic drivers with the work already done on Aros (which he can look at and learn from) you get only one thing: advanced 3D coming to AmigaOS soon

All in all, its already pretty good that they (Hyperion) understand that all that 2d/3d stuff are high priority for end users. And of course AROS code will help for better understanding, but still, aros version are x86 (little endian) which make big sense, and aros version use only some 3d party linux drivers (noveau) , while aos4 version will use native radeon drivers, which in end will be pretty different from AROS realisation for sure.

+ Our drivers for radeons are true "aos4 specific and native", which done with having in mind all that gallium/mesa stuff, and that mean, that if everything will be done right, and with interest to make it as good as possible , we can have pretty good realisation.

But yes, deadwood with his realisation for aros, show that all of this possible and even possible for one man => waiting for os4 bomb-galium ! :)

Yep, gallium sounds very nice and interesting. If we will have ability to use not only latest opengl, but also latest directx , then it will be something :)

@ChrisH

As i understand from that quotes, its all only in plans. And its to early to say "being ported". That mean 1 or 2 years from now imho. But good to know, that Thomas say that its high-priority for now. At last :) Better later than never :)

The only think which scare me a bitl, is that "gallium/mesa will first be ported and put on top of the current system". I.e. again that "old gfx-system" which can slowdown all the stuff. But as i know Hans involved in all that work, so we have big chances that all will be fine. At least we will have shaders, and full-modern opengl, what mean real big cool games and apps. If speed will be good too, then it will be uber-good.

Fingers crossed !

@djrikki

Cool , but a few wishes if you don't mind:

- loading of pages with images are slow even on more or less fast line. I think it because that you not use thumbs, but just upload big images and resize it. Maybe you use some heavy format for images as well ..

- will be cool if use press on screenshot, and it start to be big, in his real size (to allow users to check all the moments and so on).

In others looks pretty normal and modern. Some more love and work on it, and that will be nice site :)

Could you portet TuxKart/PLIB to AOS? TuxKart is faster than SuperTuxKart and without OpenAL :)

Better if it was OpenAL, because for now i not have ported (yet) sound stuff from PLIB. But tuxkart use exactly PLIB fucntions for sound plaing (in original sources of PLIB, its all references on /dev/dsp and on alsa, which we not have of course, so i need rewrite it to OpenAL usage, or to SDL_Mixer).

In other words for now it without sound at all, but, latest CVS build:

Resized Image Resized Image Resized Image

A bit buggy for now, but can say that speed the same, or even worse :) I.e. menu speed, and when you alone on trace - all cool / fine and indeed faster than supertuxkart. But when you have in plaing area other players, then it the same slow as supertuxkart (or even a bit worse). Maybe it because of 800x600 resolution by default (will try to change and play more with it).

Btw, was a bit tricky to build. It use autoconf/automale stuff (not have on os4 native), so i use crosscompiler, and it builds for me all the necessary stuff. Then , i catch the problems with that crosscompiler GCC, which do not want to link something (which as i read in google, problem of cross-compiler gcc). So, i copy all the stuff after automake to aos4, and then build all of this here. In code itself was done very few changes, mostly some includes, change some paths, commenting out of sound part, and fixing the makefiles.

Cool :) Tested amiga-slow version, and it indeed pretty enjoanable for now even on os4-opengl :) Btw, i have that warning on the start:

Saying about morphos version, but are you sure that morphos port already happenes ? I cant found any downloadable link on it. only discussions about how to fix problems. Will be interesting to try mos version if it will be done, just to see speed differences. Fab tryed to compile SuperTuxKart for morphos back in time, but he say that everything fucked on the screen, and not looks as should. But maybe other guys will fixed that, lets see.

There's nothing wrong with the font , it's DejaVu Sans which is guaranteed to be available under OS4 (well, unless the idiot user has deleted it ). You can change it to Arial if you wish, but that's not necessarily installed.

I second with Samos suggestion : by default OWB have nice sets of font size/names (and i think they all also default for OS4). That not big deal of course, but just when you run netsurf frist time, everything are so small.. Its just about "first impression from users".

PS. If you have fixed memguard-crasehs on exit (which happenes btw as well as with graphics version, and with cairo one) , can i get it from you by mail or kind ? (so i can do some more testings in free time, and commit bugs on bugtraker).

With help of Trixie, when i press on save for png , it create file, but its empty for now. I solve this by adding that: DTA_GroupID,GID_PICTURE, to NewDTObject stuff. Will try to invistigate it more, but your help are need it of course :)

I add some more debug-printfs, and found that on that piece of code from bitmap.c:

Quote:

//write datatype object to file
if (file = Open (Name,MODE_NEWFILE))
{

printf("we open file fine\n");
fflush(stdout);

dtw.MethodID = DTM_WRITE;
dtw.dtw_GInfo = NULL;
dtw.dtw_FileHandle = file;
dtw.dtw_Mode = DTWM_RAW;
dtw.dtw_AttrList = NULL;

printf("we trying to do DoMethodA\n");
fflush(stdout);

if (DoMethodA(DTImage, (Msg) &dtw))
{
printf("we in domethodA!\n");
fflush(stdout);

Close (file);
if (dst) FreeVec(dst);
DisposeDTObject(DTImage);
return(TRUE);
}
Close (file);
if (dst) FreeVec(dst);
DisposeDTObject(DTImage);
put_msg((UBYTE *)msg_DatatypeError);
return(FALSE);
}

I never have "we in domethodA" words, what mean that DoMethodA not works as should ?

db101 rulez pretty much already :)

Btw, how hard you think will add "changing" of the data in widowses such as hexview/registers/locals/globals/disassemble ? I.e. user press for example on register data in regiser window, that area highlighs, and user can rename the data inside. Then enter, and data are in register. And the same for all possible windowses where data can be changed ?

@Chris
Also try plz to go at http://reviews.cnet.com/ in netsurf and in owb. In owb all looks good -looking (with white background), but in netsurf, some background over all the categories. And banner which is near of categories by the right side, a bit not on the same line as categories (in owb all they on the same line).

@samo79
Dunno.. Of course bugs are good to post always, just to make developers more in details how it works currently, but real interest will be here to catch all the problems, when JS will coming. And for sure, some bugs we not need to report for now, because they are known by developers, just because almost every site have some mistakes there and there (not big ones, but still).

@Chris
If you as developer of os4 version in interest, i think i (and saimo) can posts all the problems in that topic which we will found, but you need add it to bugtracker. Not that i are lazy or kind, just you know better how describe all of this and so on.

@Crhis
Or for example i check my current mail on www (russian site called "yandex.ru"), and while all looks ok, the name which i write , not centered in netsurf (but in OWB is it), but if i resize the main netsurf window, then name start to be centered. Example screens:

Netsurf on yandex.ru
OWB on yandex.ru

@Chris

Trying to go at translate.google.com. There is some strange scroll-bar line at bottom. When i move it, memguard say "box scroll start". In owb there is no such scroll-line at bottom. Also words "translate" (in russian its "перевести"), in OWB at the same place where to/from language choice, in netsurf, it jumps over it. Here is 2 screenshots of it:

OWB on translate.google.com
Netsurf on translate.google.com

Also, in OWB, it translate automaticaly (i not need to press on "translate" buttons), while in netsurf, i need press on translate button. Also in OWB, you have button over translate text, for write it on Latin, but in netsurf, no button, just latin text without ask. And buttons itself looks a bit like "os3.9" look, while buttons in owb looks a bit modern and more smooth/crisp.

On the main google page, buttons looks the same and nice, but few marks in netsurf are not present and not works at all. For example in OWB, over the "settings" i have in owb little dropdown icon, pressing on which give me some more settings. I think its JS again ..

2. Can't see what you are referring to on this one.

In owb there at very bottom you can see words : "welcome to TimesPeople", "the subway in pictures" and so on. On netsurf nothing. Imho JS stuff as well.

Quote:

4. That has served up a completely different page, either due to no Javascript or (more likely given how different it is) browser detection. If OWB allows spoofing, try spoofing as Netsurf/3.0 and see what you get.

Sorry, i do not know how to do spoof in owb, but anyway, netsurf by default should show it the same as owb imho. Can i spoof in netsurf ? And if yes, what i need to set, to make pages renders the same as in OWB ?

Still the same :( Maybe you can compile it with -gstabs ? (amidark objects itself, and binary too) ? For now stack-trace show only that:

If you will compile all with -gstabs, then i can see where is problem. Maybe it pegasos only related problem ..

Need someone with pegasos, to test it on other HW.

PS. If you will build everythinkg with -gstabs (all amidark objects, and binary itself), i can try to use db101 to found some more information about.
