I have the same problem, but on my ASO4.1 beta system, not in "normal" ASO4.1FE upd1.
On my beta system I have libz.so.1.2.11
but on my AOS4.1FE upd1 only libz.so.1.2.3

So maybe it's libz.zo.1.2.11 causing some trouble.

About FTPMount issue: If WEx shows 'FTPMount not installed' you can't create/define user defined ftp sites' (last checkbox on such option).

Not sure but maybe NetSurf uses UTF-8 encoding on such "catalog".
Use C:ChasrsetConvert tool to converter "plain" text files to UTF-8:

C:ChasrsetConvert original_file iso-8859-1 ram:destination_file utf-8

7. Try to set in Preferences->Editors 'Default editor' to an hex editor (example: APPDIR:Zaphod), not sure if will suit your needs.

TO is an argument in charsetconvert.

Maybe RinghioServer when creating TMP.TXT does it in a funny way that "confuses" (the cat!) charsetconvert :-/

Seems Ringhio+C:CharsetConvert problem if input file RAM:TMP.TXT has 0 bytes it shows such error (it just says that input file is 0 bytes size). Try this under Shell/CLI:

C:Charsetconvert FROM ram:tmp.txt FROMCHARSET iso-8859-15 TOCHARSET utf-8 TO ram:out.txt

Maybe Ringhio should first check if such file isn't empty/0 bytes, or use OS4 functions for UTF8 conversion.

And maybe a minimal Project menu with Settings,Iconify,About,Quit will be handy.

Maybe some kind of newsbar (ala XNet-RSS has scrolling newstext) will be nice (or as a docky plugin)

I'll be glad to pay for it 5/10 EUROS as a small fee to use the "free/full" version.

Just try to use SGrab/YAM_config I added in this post. Remove/Rename YAM's MUI settings from ENVARC:MUI/YAM.#? and reboot.
Using Odyssey you can see your gmail account?
