Re: Sam440ep-Flex: upgrading gfx to Radeon HD4350

Just can't stay away

@trixie

AFAIK Warp3D is only for R7/R9 and some radeon (highend) HD77xx/HD7900.
If you have AEON's EnhancerSoftware just check/read Warp3dNova doc.

You will loose Warp3D compatibilty, so maybe keep the "old" 9250 on such system.

Just copy/update the RadeonHD.chip to SYS:Kickstart (add an entry in kicklayout) and IIRC add/change your monitor (DEVS:Monitors) to 'Radeon HD' and tooltypes:
CMPLENGTH=9
BOARDNAME=Radeon HD

(or whatever name you want)

IMO (or my eyes are getting old) DVI has more clear image/output in monitor, VGA blurs the image/output a little.

@walkero

You mean the columns? Or the messge read window/pane?
Try drag&drop the column's label left/right to change position.

If you can show an image of such layout, it will help.

Re: Odyssey problems today - SOLVED

Just can't stay away

@TrevorDick

The date problem happens to on other browsers/system.

AFAIK wget (at least version I use/have here) doesn't have httpS support, but curl (http://www.os4depot.net/share/network/misc/curl.lha) does.

Just change line #9 in "Download Fonts" script:
;echo >t:fetchfont{$$} ".KEY F*NAPPDIR:wget --tries 10 --waitretry 10 http://downloads.sourceforge.net/proj ... nbsp;-O t:ff_tmp<*$*$>*N.....

WITH:

echo >t:fetchfont
{$$} ".KEY F*NAPPDIR:curl -k https://netcologne.dl.sourceforge.net/project/corefonts/the%20fonts/final/<F>.exe -o t:ff_tmp<*$*$>*N....

So it uses CURL and its arguments.

And it seems to work:

Re: Making an USBbootable stick

@JosDuchIt

If you reformat the pendrive there should be no virus problem (don't think "old" bootblock viruses are still "alive").

Doesn't your USB pendrive gets recognized on your miggy and/or MediaToolbox?

Re: Making an USBbootable stick

@JosDuchIt

AFAIK other users that upgraded UBoot SAM460ex had same problem.

Looking and waht the latest UBoot (http://www.acube-systems.biz/index.php?page=news&id=134)
...
- removed 2 GB limit for USB sticks
...
IMPORTANT NOTICE: users with an USB A-Eon AmigaOne keyboard may experience a problem with too many repeated keys, in this case, if possible, use another USB keyboard, or wait for a new update.
We had several feedback saying that Logitech keyboards K120 work perfectly with Uboot (also MK220 are reported to work).

So for one side is that maybe SUB keyboard doesn't wortk under UBoot (but no problems under AOS4) and there a fixes/features the are good to update to such UBoot.

I'm using a Microsft Wired Keyboard 200 and no problems under UBoot/AmigaOS4

Re: Making an USBbootable stick

I created a bootable USB doing the following:
1)Insert USB pendrive (8GB system shows it as it was NTFS formatted) and using MediaToolbox to reinstall/recreate partitions.
2) MTB shows usbdisk.device on its startup window. Clicked on 'Edit RDB/Reinstall...' and installed/added L:slb_v2 (I'm using a SAM460ex).
3)Click on 'Edit partitions....' and created 1GB as UDH0: (SFS\00; blocksize:512) checked Automount and Bootable, Boot pri. 0 . Rest of space UDH1: (NGF\00; blocksize:2048) checked Automount.
4)Reboot system and from Shell/CLI formated: "SFSFormat drive UDH0: name USB_SYS norecycled". Formatted UDH01: using SYS:System/Format icon.
5)From Shell/CLI: "c:copy SYS: UDH0: all buf=5000"
6)Removed/BackedUp from UDH0:Prefs/Env-Archive/Sys/ wbstartup.prefs, ringhio#?, workbench.prefs.
7)In UBoot prefs changed boot devices list to USB_HD,SII_3x14 DVD, SII_3x14 HD

Re: Making an USBbootable stick

@JosDuchIt

Are those stick FAT/FAT32 formatted? If not try to reformat them to FAT/FAT32.
IIRC there is a tool "HP-USB-Disk-Storage-Format-Tool" to reformat USB pendrives.

About latest UBoot.
It has some issues with some USB keyboards, they don't work under UBoot (you can't enter in Uboot menu/prefs) but when it loads AOS4 no problems.
I upgraded UBoot and had such issue, solved by buying another USB keyboard (Microsft Wired Keyboard 200), with my previous one (unbranded TLTC4USB) I couldn't go into UBoot prefs or choose from UBoot loading kicklayout menu.

Re: Format & Quick format

@JosDuchIt

Not sure if it matters, but didi you use MTB to read/install RDB and then click on 'Install/read configuration...' (and save changes)?
And not sure if format does look for bad sectors and mark them.

AFAIK you should alwayas do a format QUICK on HDDs. And check cable as ChrisH suggested.

You can use c:IDETool to see/get some info, or use SysMon (zztools):

Just put cursor above item you want and it will popup a bubble help with location (where it checks/looks for it).

Maybe you can reach the printer settings using Odyssey (or Timberwolf)
