@afxgroup
I tried this with ZeroG's wmv - the option line
-vo sdl -ao sdl
worked fine - if a little slow.
if I used
-vo p96_pip -ao sdl
I got half black-and-white as described earlier in the thread. hmmm... something to do with the PIP ?

d/l'ed - yup, same here too - although it is suffering from bandwidth problems (only using the internal IDE for a start, and a number of other things running). To be honest, I figured it was just down to a slowish system at first - but others having the same problem leads me to think otherwise. Tried DvPlayer, but the OS4.1 bundled version doesnt support WMV ! (must stop being a cheapskate, and buy full version... )

Yes, I was referring to those. Unfortunately, as jahc has already discovered, they don't always work. We'll have to see if the problems will disappear with a newer port of MPlayer.
Varthall
me too, results are a mixed bag as well - sometimes it improves things, sometimes not. Bill bailey came out of it with the pictures at the same rate as the audio, but a second or two out of step !

@Slayer
FWIW its not just SAM - I get this on my A1XE w/G3. Could be the Radeon 7000 ? I believe this is the same chipset as the SAM...
edit: I'm using MPlayer v52.1 Leitmotiv version (05/11/2007)
2nd edit: sometimes flv's (such as YouTube ones) play out-of-sync - particularly Bill Bailey's tribute to Kraftwerk - the pictures are way faster than the soundtrack...

We had XH558 at Farnborough this year when it left it flew Down my road, so to speak, also have a friend who helped the campaign from the start, he works for the IWM
was it noisy ? was it impressive ? was it videoed ! hope to see it next year - will be straight over to Cosford if it happens !

One possibility to check first is that either the ISO is corrupt or wasn't downloaded/burnt correctly.
A very quick Google query (my lunch is about ready) brings up something interesting. Although it's Debian Lenny (but Etch gets a mention), it seems similar:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questio ... c-on-debian-lenny-661858/
hmm. This seems to be saying there might be a problem relating to that version of kernel that came in the install iso image. I'll try re-d'l'ing it, and see what happens. Any one else tried this iso ? http://amigaone-linux.sourceforge.net ... bian-etch-install.iso.bz2

bounce! a bit of diagnostic - the last few lines could be the tell tale: Quote: RAMDISK: compressed image found at block 0 RAMDISK: incomplete write (-28 != 32768) 4194304 crc error No filesystem could mount root, tried: ext3 ext2 iso9660 Kernel Panic - not syncing: VFG: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(3,3) <0>Rebooting in 180 seconds..
any ideas ? could it be the archive tool didnt know the destination size is a pointer that its been incorrectly uncompressed - hence the crc error ?

I've just downloaded (from Ross Vumbaca's site) an Etch install ISO for debian etch - I get a kernel panic - any ideas ? PS: I know I've not given any detail of the diagnostic info, but I'll post back here in a bit.

Network niggles (MSI router)

Howdo all,
not sure if this is the right Forum, but someone will surely shift if not !
I have my A1XE (OS4.1) networked via the native port to a router, to connect to Virgin Cable broadband via cable 'modem'.
The router is an MSI RG54SE II wifi router, Miggy is connected to port 1 via a cat5e cable.
The niggle is that the network connection never works properly from first power up - I have to do a hard reset*, and leave the router on for a few minutes to get it to work automatically. Unless someone has been online from the PC via the wifi dongle, in which case the A1 will seamlessly talk to the outside world from the off.
Any ideas ? or will I just have to live with it for buying cheap equipment ?
Ta muchly like !
*Holding Ctrl 'Amiga' 'Amiga' (ie: two windows keys, and the menu key) for 10s.
