Re: AmigaOS 4 Gaming Leaderboards - Submit your scores here

I don't know how I got that score. That was my first or second try. All the other scores have been mediocre. And I didn't hack the game code to display that number.

Re: Dual Video Card causing lock-ups

Update:

Radeon 7950 in primary, Radeon HD 5450 in secondary.

Fresh boot.
- Open Odyssey
- Close Odyseey
- Open Odyssey
- Click on button that would normally allow me to ICONIFY odyssey: ARTIFACTS with drawings. Cannot close it.

Not good. I think I will just keep one video card in the X1000. Just too many issues running dual HD cards with one in each PCI-E x16. A real shame.

The 560RX arrived and everything works. 1080p video etc. Great.

Now I just need to buy a white fractal r4 (possibly higher revision) that goes along with the great X1000 case. Anyone want to swap?

Well, I see also this post:https://forum.hyperion-entertainment.com/viewtopic.php?t=2749.

In my case I am doing something quite different from the PDF written by Hans. It is two HD cards and I get a little instability which comes in the form of a full system freeze at the beginning of starting the machine. But, if the machine can get passed that potential early freeze, then it seems I can use it for hours and generally even perform warm reboots. It just seems to be an issue very early on.

I'll continue testing this dual pcie x16, dual HD experiment.

Hi,

the password is the same. I have AmiSSL installed and I also tried from a Windows machine to connect using that website linked above.

Hi,

yes. Exactly the same credentials. For example, as112233. I used the same password for both AmiStore and Updater.

Unable to log in to AmiSphere account but able to log in to AmiStore (SOLVED)

When I go to: https://www.amisphere.com/ it says that "AmiSphere account is used to access AMIStore App Store". Presumably, this means that the same credentials are used both for the AMIStore and to log in when clicking "Login to existing AmiSphere account".

Well, I can login to the AmiStore on my AmigaOne, but I cannot login to Updater.

I then tried to log in on a non-Amiga machine and I just get an error about bad credentials.

Am I doing something wrong here?

Re: Changing GUI settings in Prefs causes 100% CPU utilization and freezes system
Quite a regular

Okay, seems that the issue is actually AmiDock. If I disable AmiDock then GUI performs fine.

All I can say is that for AmiDock I have 3 docks. One of them is called my "minidock". It contains 3 dockys (cpu, ram, gfx dockys) and SysMon. For whatever reason, when you click on SAVE/USE after tweaking something in the GUI window AmiDock just freezes. I cannot click on anything on any of my 3 docks. If remove the "minidock" only then there is no crash after intuition redraws. Even if I leave "minidock" in place but just remove all of the dockys then again, it works.

Perhaps I have misconfigured my "minidock". Not sure if after clicking use/save on the GUI prefs then AmiDock is starting up again and trying to run another instance of the dockys and causing this issue?

There is actually not 100% utilization, it just looks like that. Really, AmiDock is just frozen.

Phew: I was able to just copy over the backup "gui.prefs" to the env-archive sys. All back to normal. I guess I could have just reapplied the theme as well. Presumably, changing themes overwrites things like the gui.prefs.

In any case, I am wondering if anyone can reproduce the issue with GUI: try tweaking something like the window active border/gradient, click use and try doing it again.

Changing GUI settings in Prefs causes AmiDock/Dockys to freeze (partially SOLVED)
Quite a regular
Quite a regular

Everytime I try and tweak things in the GUI settings and click USE, intuition redraws everything and things come back - this is fine. But, I notice 100% CPU utilization and when I try and tweak something else and then click on use then the system freezes and I need to perform a system reboot.

I have now trashed my GUI settings by clicking on "default" and they look aweful. I thought it would take me back to the default look of AmigaOS4 on a fresh installation, but this is not the case. And, since I cannot tweak things without performing a full system reboot every time it will take me hours to get back to where I should be. On top of which, I have not got a clue what the options generally refer to.

I hope that the GUI program simply has a save file in the ENV of prefs that I can just replace with the file I have on my backup HDD.

Can someone please help.

Dual Video Card causing lock-ups
Quite a regular
Quite a regular

Before I attempted having dual video cards this was the situation with my X1000:

- RadeonHD 7950 in the primary PCI-E x16 slot (the slot at the top of the motherboard closest to the memory modules)
- RadeonHD.chip 3.7
- PCIGraphics.card 53.18
- ATIRadeon.chip 53.29
- Graphics.library 54.248

Then I attempted to set up dual monitors:

- I inserted the "stock" HD 4650 (RV730) into the secondary PCI-E x16 slot.
- I powered on the system (noticed that the beginning AEON logo and loading bar was BLUE instead of RED).
- I ensured that the system could detect the RV730 using sysmon.
- I then followed the "Dual_Graphic_Card_Rev1.2_X1000.pdf" which meant:
- I copied my existing "Devs/Monitors/Radeon HD 7900 Series" to "Devs/Monitors/PCIGraphics and I made the change to the string length in the INFO file (11 string length); I made the changes to the BOARDNAME
- I copied "Devs/Monitors/Radeon HD 7900 Series" to"Devs/Monitors/Radeon RV730" and I made the changes to the string length: 12. I made the changes to the BOARDNAME.
- I rebooted the machine.

I noticed a lockup at first. I rebooted and this time it was okay. I messed around a little bit with DOPUS and generally putting things onto the other screen. I left it for the night.

Today I have started the machine twice and both times I got lockups after the Workbench showed up.

For now, I have just reverted back to having 1 video card and physically removed the secondary stock card.

FYI: When I first got the 7950 card I did have it installed into the secondary PCI-E x16 slot and I did notice I used to get freezes even then. Once I moved it to the primary slot there was never a problem.

So, I am wondering if there is a problem with the secondary PCI-E x16 slot in my machine? Whether this is an issue anyone else has come across? The lockups do not seem to always happen and when they do they are early on.

I wonder if the same thing happens if you use AllocMem instead of using auto variables. AllocMem will handle the alignment for you. Just interesting to see if it would work.

I don't know, but I doubt anyone would have done it.

How big is the makefile. I know that it is typical that older makefiles used suffix rules vs modern pattern rules. But this was always gcc in my experience.

I think I recall a non gcc makefile with aztec also but they were simple.

@raziel
Well, for whatever reason, I never need to invoke the server when I log into AmiStore.

I just open AmiStore and log in and it works. But, with "Updater" I use the same credentials and just get very weird behaviour. Sometimes it says "downloading updates", sometimes it just takes me back to the credentials screen. I have no idea what is going on.

Now, there is also AmiUpdate? It seems ridiculous that there are all of these different ways to update / install packages.

EDIT: Sometimes with "Update" I even get DSI errors!

AmiUpdater is not Updater right?

I think Updater is not working for me. I think that Updater uses the same credentials as AmiStore. I can log onto AmiStore fine with user name: as112233 and password, but Updater is just not working with those credentials.

@kas1e

Thanks. I don't have a CDDVD drive, but I could easily install one. Clearly I prefer the two button approach, and I will just boot with no startup-sequence.

Thanks for the RX suggestion. But, before I go and buy yet another video card, are we able to watch 1080P movies yet? I ask because when I was first messing around with my new X5000 I was using the original HD card that the seller also put into the box. I also tried the R7 250A (Orland) card and I still witnessed the majority of the work being done by the CPU. I was under the assumption that Emotion/DVPlayer was able to start using the video card? If this only happens with RX then it is totally worth buying an RX card, but if I will not see much improvement, I could just keep the R7 250 in there.
