Want to participate in the AmigaOS 4 Gaming Leaderboards and Highscore Challenges?

If yes, this is the place to post your scores for inclusion in the tables. Screenshot/photo is preferred, but at this early stage I guess it is ok to just write down the score.

Rules are simple; You must play the AmigaOS 4 version of the game. No cheats or trainers, please.

I will try updating the highscores a couple of times a week or more.

Thanks in advance for participating! Let the games begin! :D

Re: AmigaOS 4 Gaming Highscores Online - Competitions etc.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the positive feedback and suggestions! :) Definitely agree with having non-free titles to play as well.

Have started working on the project now and have a page up and running here.

Think this will develop over time. Most important is to get everything up and running and then we can add additional features, better graphics, awards etc.

Right now I have a page ready with very basic high-score listings for two games, some information about the leaderboards and a header logo I made. Later on we should have Game of the Month competitions and more. That will be fun. :)

Thanks again for the positive comments. I will make a separate thread here where people can submit their scores for inclusion in the highscore tables. We should later on make a thread about Game of the Month too.

PS: The page is now up and running in basic form here:

AmigaOS 4 Gaming Highscores Online - Competitions etc.

Hi everyone,

Would any of you be interested in a page/site showing highscores for some selected AmigaOS 4 games?

Perhaps a monthly gaming competition?

I see that they do such things on EAB, as well as Amigos Podcast having a high-score challenge for classic on their Discord.

Would be fun if we could do something similar for AmigaOS 4.

We could have a thread here where we could vote for "Game of the Month" for example, and then people submit their scores here or directly on a webpage if that is possible. I can make a section for this on my "Gaming on AmigaOS 4" blog for example. :) Would be a cool project to work.

So, anyone interested in this? I think it would be fun and a good way to promote AmigaOS 4 too.

First suggestions for games from my side:

Dodge These Balls (freeware)

1941 Extreme Deluxe

TechnoballZ

Breakers (Arkanoid)

GemGem

- These are free to download and fun to play. They don't take much time getting into, so the threshold to participate is not high.

Thanks for reading and hope some of you would be interested. :)

@trixie

Wow, that sounds marvellous! Impressed Lahve has become both an actor and film director! :) Lost touch with them when mailtrading sort of disappeared due to most people getting Online back then, so interesting to hear how they're doing.

@trixie

Cool that you've been active in the demoscene! I used to swap/mailtrade floppies with some in the Czech Republic in the 90's. Maybe you know them? Lahve (member of Reason), Magellan (member of Royal) and I think Bolda from Horizontal Lamerz too (but can't remember 100%, hehe). Good times!

Soliton - Getting REKO cardsets to work

Earlier today I gave the game Soliton (http://os4depot.net/?function=showfile&file=game/card/soliton.lha) a try and I think it was very good.

I read that it supports REKO cardsets, which I remember having used with Klondike AGA on the A1200 back in the days.

I installed the REKO datatype on AmigaOS 4.1 and copied REKO cardsets to the graphics folder of Soliton, but sadly the sets does not work. Only get blank cards with numbers/descriptions on them.

Anyone knows how to get this working? :) Thanks in advance!

@Capehill

Hi Capehill!

Thanks for the reply. Agree that pinball rules!

Found a game called Linball written using C + SDL libraries. Works on Linux. Would this one be portable you think? Just curious. Thanks in advance for reply.

Here is the link:

My first suggestion is a fun pinball game! I don't have an overview of what is available when it comes to open source pinball games, but found this one after a quick search:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visual_Pinball

There are some good pinball games for classic, but none for AmigaOS 4 as I know of.

I'd love to see an MSX emulator for AmigaOS 4. The MSX has many fun and captivating games one can enjoy like Salamander, Knightmare, Blow-Up and so forth. :)

Would also be great to have an AmigaOS 4 port of Filemaster like MorphOS has (https://aminet.net/package/util/dir/FileMasterPPC).

Besides more communication concerning the progress of AmigaOS 4 and compatible hardware/software, I'd love to see A-Eon and others involved in AmigaOS 4 reaching out to some of the most popular Amiga podcasts/shows on YouTube with AmigaOS 4 in mind.

Amigos Amiga Podcast, RetroMancave, NostalgiaNerd, Dan Wood (he has done some AmigaOS 4 videos in the past), Modern Vintage Gamer and others have thousands upon thousands of followers on YouTube. If these people could be lent or given AmigaOS 4 compatible hardware to showcase the OS, I'm sure it could make a big impact! They reach all kinds of people into retro gaming and retro computing and I'm sure a big portion of them don't know about the existence of AmigaOS 4 at all. ;) Getting a pro like RMC (RetroMancave) do a review of the X5000 or maybe make a piece about AOS 4 history, that would be very, very cool.

Since the topic here is communication from A-Eon, Hyperion and AmigaKit, I think the above would be a great way to communicate to the AmigaOS 4 community and the Amiga community in general that we are still here, we're excited about the OS and we're ready to re-ignite the fire again! ;) However, I think the idea presented earlier in this thread about giving an update once a month about various AmigaOS 4 related projects would be excellent. I always look for news about Tabor for example, but it is hard to come by.
