My current favorites are The Battle for Wesnoth (excellent strategy game!) and Tower 57 (brilliant action adventure). Beside this, I love the games made available by ScummVM (Monkey Island series for example).

@Chris

Cool! Thanks for the info concerning these. I have done a bit of searching for an USB weather station, but unsure which one to choose concerning compatibility. Do you have any recommendations for a suitable weather station? Thanks in advance.

Weather Station

Hi everyone,

I'm interested in purchasing a small weather station to install outside the house. I'd like to use an AmigaOS 4 setup to hook up such a device to. Thought this would be a fun thing to do.

On OS4Depot there is a program called MeteoStation NM (http://os4depot.net/?function=showfil ... ity/misc/meteostation.lha) supporting EasyWeather software, as well as WWSR (http://os4depot.net/?function=showfil ... ility/scientific/wwsr.lha).

Does anyone here have any experience with the two programs and compatible hardware (weather stations)?

Thanks in advance for help.

Re: Remaking or porting old Amiga PD releases

@LiveForIt

Hi,

Thanks for the information concerning Public Domain.

My thought was to bring some of these old productions to AmigaOS 4.x just as they were like in their original form, complete with credits of the original authors of course. Like people do when porting stuff from Linux.

Quote:
It does not need to be close to the original, it can be loosely inspired by as well. But think it’s important remake it in the same spirit as the original to please the people who download it, if does not sound like it should, don’t look like it should it be a disappointment. To the viewer and not worth doing.

Good points! Thanks! I'm thinking of bringing over some old releases from a group I was member of back in the 90's, as well as some other work I've done, so you gave me a good idea here. I don't need to make them exactly the same, I can enhance them a bit too for AmigaOS 4.x. I think I will start with this instead. This was helpful and got my mind in motion here.

Quote:
I think also important to respect the creators of the work of art and give credit, where credit is due.

Completely agree!

Remaking or porting old Amiga PD releases

Hi everyone,

I have a question concerning old Amiga PD releases and bringing some of them to AmigaOS 4.x.

Do you know if it is allowed to port such releases, like for example a slideshow or game, to AmigaOS 4 without having been in touch with the author (if one can not get hold of the them etc.)?

If it is a slideshow, one can rip the pictures and music and re-create it as close to the original as possible with Hollywood for example.

I know there are many fun and entertaining productions from back in the days, which would be fun to have running native on AmigaOS 4.

The pinball game "Space Cadet" was ported to MorphOS a while ago. I really like this game and wondered if it is possible to compile it for AmigaOS 4.x as well? The readme says it need SDL2 and SDL2 Mixer?

@kas1e

Hi kas1e,

The user "White" on MorphZone managed to make WinUAE running AmigaOS 4.1 incredibly fast, but all his videos on YouTube are unfortunately gone.

I saw him post recently on MorphZone, so maybe you can ask him there or send a PM?

https://morph.zone/news/

He did all kinds of crazy stuff on 4.1 which I thought wouldn't be possible with emulation.

As for myself, I used FlowerPot to set everything up and Workbench feels nice and smooth. It is of course worse when it comes to running games and demanding applications though. Please let me know if you want to me to send you my config.

Cheers!

Hi everyone,

I have started a new project called "AmigaOS 4 Monthly Roundup".

The aim of the project is to publish a summary of news, releases, rumours and more related to AmigaOS 4 on the last day of each month.

Hopefully this will prove a good way for people to catch up on what has happened on the platform lately.

Hope you'll like it!

Here is the first is the first AmigaOS 4 Monthly Roundup for January 2022:

Hi and thanks for the all the replies and suggestions!

I decided to do a complete re-install of both FlowerPot and AmigaOS 4. Thanks to Amikit who sent me a new download link for FlowerPot!

Now it all works fine again.

@noXLar

You are right. I should have this printed in big letters on the wall here, as I seem to forget.

@white

Thanks for the info. I'm very impressed with how much you manage to get out of AmigaOS 4.1 in emulation! Have watched many of your videos in the past. Excellent stuff!

I made a big mistake - Garbled screen
Quite a regular
Quite a regular

Hi everyone,

This is embarrassing...

When trying to run a game recently, I needed to make a new screenmode to get it working. This was explained somewhere in the documentation. I went into Screenmode and Monitors and created this strange resolution and saved. Problem is, I can't get it back to normal! Whenever I boot up AmigaOS 4 from HD or from CD, the screen comes up garbled. This is on emulation with AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition for Classic.

Is there any file I can delete to get the setup back to normal?

Tried booting without Startup-Sequence, but then the Screenmode program does not run due to lack of PPC. I'm not used to 68K / PPC combo.

Thanks in advance for your help.
