@GrumpyOldMan Heh, no problem...thanks for the answer I did the drilling myself, but couldn?t get anything to work. I wasn?t even able to make UBoot see the new device, but of course this could be due to my not fixed hardware. Will see how it does when i get my board back. One question though, you stated in your first mail: Quote: In A1: +5v D- D+ GND x +5V D- D+ GND SHL
I presume that this is meant while looking at the pins and counting from left to right, that is "back" of the mobo (where the original USB ports reside) to "front" (where the IDE connectors are)? @tonyw Thanks for the confirmation on the colors But why is the pin layout on the mobo "different" (missing or misplaced "hole")? I thought the AOne was PC conform? Or did i just got myself a not normed 3rd party hardware?

@GrumpyOldMan Your first post showed the cables and what they do, could you maybe add the colors of the cables, too? I somehow managed to shoot my Flash stick and want to check if the cables are wrong in any way. Thank you Mine has: Red White Green Black Nothing Red White Green Black Nothing or the other way round if i turn it.

@Wepl OK, i maybe alrealy outdated on the info here, but i thinkone of the core devs of OS4 mentioned that the 68k cpu will be completely switched off when running OS4. You may have to wait for a comment by the core devs, to get an official statement, though Awesome program...WHDLoad rules!!!

I never lost a package, regardless where i sent it (they broke one, but i never lost one) Go for it, Jean-Jacques is awesome, he fixed mine (one blown chip, the hardware - DMA&USB - fixes and refitted AC97 sound chip!) in just three days. Really, it?s more than worth a try...go for it. For the package: Send it secured and via air mail and secure it for worth a 1000? or so, they?ll take care of it Get your miggy back to life

@LiveForIt
DCE don?t answer Amiga related topics (for at leaast 1 year now), believe me, i tried.
They could do it, alright, but they won?t (unless you are good friend to Mr. Dellert)

@LiveForIt I know that ACube does AOne CPU module repair AmigaCenter France does AOne MoBo repair (and both are doing great, btw) but i don?t know if ACube does PPC repair on classic PPC cards? (I know AmigaCenter don?t as stated in that eMail i got) Anyway, i just looked up a thread in a german Amiga forum covering my problem and there it was said that when the PPC on the Cyberstorm is borked, it can?t be replaced due to it (the CPU) being a BGA (piece/chip/part/whatever) and thus (only with an hillarious amount of technique) not replaceable. Right?

I just received a mail from JJB of AmigaCenter France that my PPC CPU on the Cyberstorm may be dead. As he can?t do anything about it apart from testing (it hangs when OS4 should be loaded) i?m asking here if someone knows of a way to fix and/or refit the PPC cpu with the same (G2 - PPC603/604e) or a newer model (G3) and maybe also knows someone you would take up the job?
Suggestions welcome
Also, i?m really thinking if i should take the repair at all as the old lady wasn?t doing anything the past 6 months apart from crunching for OGR?
Again Suggestions welcome.
At the moment JJB would repair the CS so that i would get a MKIII when he?s done (that would mean the 68k part repaired the rest dead.
The overall problem which i?m facing right now (as do many others) is: What if my AOne broke for good? No backup computer would be there and no hardware to get in a short term...
Thanks in advance

@Atheist Quote: I like snooping, so, if memory protection is on at "maximum strength", could someone, still write a program, even with basic, that could look through the entire ram, and find a string of characters anywhere of say "abcd" or any 8 bit binary combination?
Why not? What you describe is a simple search function, which you should be able to perform on any whatsoever strict memory protection there will be. It?s not that you going to write that string over with something else, is it? Of course, if memory protection does a "protect against reading" from programs not owning that particular address, then it won?t work...but why would someone want to do that? REMINDER: I don?t know nothing about memory protection...just trying to add to the noise

I'm not an expert on TV cards, but AIUI they will always have at least two inputs - one for an aerial, and the other composite or S-Video plus audio.
So basically you need to run a cable from the satellite decoder to the TV card. At the very least there will be a Scart connector on the back of the box, so you'll need a Scart to composite adapter/cable or similar.
Of course the easiest thing to do is buy a cheap indoor aerial and bung that on the back
Chris
Hmm, forgive my questions, but as i am not an expert either, i?d like to pinpoint some facts and ... learn I was hoping to get myself this one: (WinTV HVR3000) It has an antenna and satellite dish in (dunno the right names for those, sorry, but @Spirantho told me that the chip in the card does the work on deciphering the image data - which he cannot implement, because he hasn?t got a dish - so i?d need to get a settop box to do this instead BEFORE feeding the signal to the card. Did i get something wrong here? Thanks a lot

@Spirantho
Could you please explain once more what is needed to use such a card in my AOne?
1. I?m not having cable, neither do i have antenna 2. I?m on satellite dish only
You said in eMail that i?d need some sort of settop box to do the conversion and feed the signal from there into the card!?
Which kind of settop box, a satellite receiver?
Thank you and sorry for asking once again /me not on my AOne and thus no access to the old eMails

@Helge Eh, i see a pattern here, but not due to the hot weather :-/ I know at least 4 people (me included) worrying about their broken AOnes and one new that adds to the list. Sounds like much work for JJB and Max If the fans turning too slow, why not plug a speed measuring between and let the hardware (third party) do the spinning? Works great for me. I got one of these and it works great. Number 3 meant the upcoming "Red Lady" from ACube
