@amigamaniac_aus - What are the result of your hardware connected on a LCD TV from the SVGA or comp ??? (Smooth amiga whdload move when playing, smooth pointer move on the wb,....). Do you know all the project like this on eon EAB, like the zethro one,..... In my knowlegde, you are the only who sell complete product like this one (without an external box for the hardware). I'm wondering to put a SVGA+PAL (A1200)-your hardware ???? + DVI (SAM) + PS3 on one LCD monitor in a more or less near futur (one LCD monitor because not enough place for two). http://www.analog.com/static/imported-files/data_sheets/AD724.pdfhttp://www.analog.com/en/amplifiers-a ... 073/products/product.html

@jahc Quote: - Your own Current Media information is now displayed in the personal message space. Otherwise you'd play music and not know that your personal message was currently showing the Current Media. Use the MUSIC ARexx command to tell SabreMSN what music you're currently listening to. Hook this up to your music players if possible.
How setting personnal message after my name ??? for example, how you have made on Sabre MSN contact lits, the: an amiga programmer job is never done (after jahc). hum, have seen PERSONNAL MESSAGE and MUSIC are command on the arexx part of the readme, no arexx script on the AOS3 archive. hum2, Personnal message aren't a tooltype. hum3 forgotten to thanks JAHC and MICKJT a lot for the last speedy fix about the hardcode part

@All
- Amicygnix itself load fine and with speed. - Amicygnix program run fine and with speed (ambiworld, netsurf,..)
- Amicygnix is little slower just for scrolling rendered internet page on netsurf or scrolling loaded document on abiworld.
scrolling is moving with whellmouse, vertical scrollbar or up-down arrorw the loaded page.
As amicygnix use xpicasso96.library and amicygnix use only 16 bit screenmode, I would like to know if someone have some ideas and theory about the scroll speed problem with amicygnix (picasso96, 16 bits screenmode,.....) ???
I ask the question like that, maybe Picasso96 experts have good advice about P96 running.
For me, It's strange that amicygnix is little slower, IMHO, only when vertical scrolling datas on page or when showing menu windows (It's not slow at all for loading and showing the abiworld software on the screen).
I have MCP and solidwindow moving enabled on the AOS3 amiga and the speed of a solidwindow moving on the classic WB who use 16bit is verry verry speedy with P96 V2.1 with 68060/50 on 800x600x16.

@Jack
What is the goal, finally ???
I said that because netsurf amicygnix work well and render amigans page correctly. It's just the vertical scrolling of netsurf, with amigans rendered page on, who is slow unfortunately.

@all Using roadshow without DHCP, by modifying the DHCP connection. Sys:Prefs/Internet : Interfaces -> modify - Use static IP adress: enabled - Adress IP = adress of your computer. For example: 192.168.1.2. - Subnet mask = 255.255.255.0 - Try DHCP settings: disabled. Routes: - Adress of the modem/router. Not by clicking on "New", but by writing directly (192.168.xx.xx) on the line "Default Gateway Adress". For example: 192.168.1.1 Name Resolution: - The place where the DNS must be entered by using "New" each time, for example: 219.27.32.171 & 219.27.32.171 Connection better because less wait state caused by roadshow DHCP. Sometime site very long to come here... NOTE: - 192.168.1.1 (modem adress) - 192.168.1.2 (the first computer - 255.255.255.0 (allways) - DNS (given by your provider. Ask them or use google). In exchange, explanations for: - installing KingCON on AOS4.1 - Usefull keys when computer boot (shell). - Uboot commands. - the command for recovering a grim reaper after a reboot (don't remember). - ......

@cygnusEd Quote: cygnusEd wrote: The priority of -1 doesn't help with scrolling or window movements. I think my request was unclear. It only helps, when a program freezes for a short time while working with it. This may not happen on your SAM - I don't know. I have AmiCygnix ports of some SDL games, where this problem occurs all the time. But sometimes it happens also with AbiWord or others apps here too.
OK. Don't know this problem. Maybe Amicygnix user take that as normal software reaction on slow SAM.... Amicygnix can't be speed up a little by disabling some GUI settings like composition,...... ??? Quote: I have a new window manager here: The Equinox Window Manager. He is a bit faster than OpenBox and supports also frame movements. Maybe you like to test it?
Of course, I could test (if easy to manage because I'm not skilled than other people on this thread like jack my email on my account.

@cygnusEd Quote: Please launch AmiCygnix, launch an application (like AbiWord) and then set the priority of AbiWord to -1 by using Scout. Do it this way: Launch Scout and click on "Tasks". Search for a task called "Background CLI [Cygnix:CygnixPPC/ bin/abiword]". Select the task and click on "Priority". A requester appears, where you can change the priority.
I have tested the explanation quoted and with priority -1, I can't really seen a difference of page scrolling speed with a document. My test is to open abiworld-en.guide and simply go down the document with down arrow key. strange: if I change abiworld-en.guide by helvetica, corrier or terminal 12, font are bold and blue and if vertical scroll the document with down arrow key, colors fonts are strange (light blue and after green...). the speed problem is little slow abiworld menu or slow page scroll with abiworld, not the time of loading abiworld who is verry correct,.... I'm stressed to explain well what kind of low speed sometime with amicygnix (redraw menu over the program or vertical page scroll)... question: there are a seting somewhere on amicygnix for not having solid window application moving ???

@cygnusEd First thanks for all the explanations Don't know that rendering amicygnix on the screen use a server.... Quote: Can you test another thing for me? I've found out, that some programs (especially games) are working better, when they have a task priority of -1. Games and sometimes normal apps freeze for a short time (while typing text for example), but with a priority of -1 this problem disappears.
Did you ever have such a problem? If yes, could you try to launch this problematic app and set the priority to -1 with (for example) Scout and try it again?
Sorry I don't understand. I must put amicygnix a priority of -1 and use the program ???

Quote: It's still hard for me to say, where the biggest problems of AmiCygnix are. Amicygnix highly depends on the network performance. Every message, gfx operation, data exchange etc. uses the network. I can't remove that without loosing a big part of the unix compatibility. AmiCygnix was created to make easy ports possible - I don't want to change that.
What mean network ??? (usually not enough CPU power or gfx card,....). For taking the abiworld example on amicygnix, abiworld work great and usable when typing a text on the program or deleting a line, etc.... Just the vertical scroll is a little slow and if lots of return key used, must wait to see the last one. In another hand, the user know after some time how using abiworld and make with the speed availale on the SAM. IMHO, all amicygnix user wish to have better speed (page scrolling on abiworld or when moving window) in the futur. Not making 32 bit screenmode available will increase the amicygnix speed ???

@cygnusEd
OK I have made the font change and script update and the default theme and no visually speed change (speed that could be really seen and feel) on the SAM here.
Thanks for testing this point and giving the advice.
the X-Server is the only key for better speed with Amicygnix apparently.

@All I'm happy my thread has given all this interest For me Amicygnix is verry great and usefull also on a SAM. Just need to think to be patient when using after switching to the speedest AOS4.1 I haven't the SAM near me, for testing the font alias advice but will do that this end of afternoon, thanks for pointing this. Hope the X-server will be improved in the futur I remember testing amicygnix on a amicygnix P96pip window, days ago, on the workbench, but seing the result, IMHO, ugly, compared with amicygnix on his own screen (better picture). EDIT: SUNDAY 18:24 PM: Afterwards call "Cygnix:CygnixPPC/bin/fc-cache -v -f" in a shell to update the font caches. How using the shell in amicygnix for the command ???

Hello, Amicygnix is a verry verry great software package for the Amiga. Help a lot to use PC world data on Amiga computer. The Only problem is the lack of speed on SAM motherboards and Little more will be greatly appreciated As I'm just a simple user, I would like to have some explanations about the needed stuff to have Amicygnix running with more speed. - Is it just nothing to do and wait after GFX driver updated on the next update of AOS4 (OpenGL,....) ???? - There are something on the Amicygnix code that should be updated to have better speed also ??? - Allready the speed could be better by using special settings before launching Amicygnix (the setting program), or during the use of Amicygnix (inside the settings menus) ??? Yes, I would like to see if the futur will give more speed on Amicygnix and if just new AOS4 update will enhance a lot the speed of Amicygnix or lots of work must be done on Amicygnix for the same result, or both.... Thanks for your comments on this thread

@cygnusEd Quote: I would prefer a bounty. It is a complex project, which needs a lot of time to do it. It is discouraging, when I compare the amount of donations I've got for AmiCygnix and the time I've invested so far (This does not mean, that I don't appreciate the donations I've got - thanks again!). I'm sorry for that but I have planned to donate for you but with the financial crisis, I don't know if I will work after mid-july :-\ I allready received only 75% of my salary each month or a closed office soon Please just think that It's hard actually to live with the financial crisis (at least for me). Thanks a lot for amicygnix. The number 2 of interest on AOS4 (just after the OS itself), IMHO..

Memguard + sashimi look like detailed reports like with sashimi + muforce on AOS3.x
IMHO this tools should be used on AOS4.X, when using actually developped AOS3.x programs on PPC amiga, and found problems when running the 68k program.
Interesting to know if AOS4.x programmers found an addtionnal interest with a sashimi+ memguard report with the Grim Reaper report...
