@LyleHaze Quote: OK, getting you going.. ...
Thanks for the hints, will try asap Quote: re:Adding support to SCUMM.. I looked over the source. It looks like it won't be too hard to do, but I have no clue how to test it. Does SCUMM come with any apps that I can use to check for MIDI support? So far I only Downloaded the source archive.
You need a game that makes use of MIDI hardware/emulation and plays it music/sound thru MIDI to test. That would be the best solution imo Luckily there is one game available which a) is supported by ScummVM and b) freely available for download on the ScummVM site: Flight of the Amazon Queen(You need to scroll down a little, there are different versions, but i believe the disk version [6.7MB] should be sufficient. I'd gladly betatest with my CD based versions, of course!) Quote: Another option is for me to write the code and then pass it on to a SCUMM developer, but they would need MIDI gear, or Showkeys.
You probably need to add your code to ScummVM's patch trackeranyway, otherwise the devs will regret it most surely. Then you have the following options: chat.freenode.net channel: #scummvmask sev and tell him i sent you or The ScummVM forumsYou can ask anything and they are very fast and helpful or you can simply pass me the request and i'll forward it to one of the main devs... But i think it would be better if you'd talk coder to coder...

@lylehaze I received the MT-32 yesterday...sadly without a power adapter. (I "borrowed" one from my brother which worked but is awfully loud - guess i have to get me a new one) and with the wrong sized audio cables (it needs 6.3mm Cinch, i have 3.5) Grrr Anyway, i just sent in a MIDI song thru DG_MIDIPlayer and it (the player) actually started counting down the seconds (which it didn't before when i tried and had NO MT-32 installed on the GamePort - back then it just silently quit), so i guess it's finding the hardware? Although there is no display change in the hardwares display. Have to check further, when i get my cables...

@Snuffy Eh, you may point your question to @Rigo I'm just the one that drives him crazy Regarding your question, i assume you have downloaded tha latest AmiUpdate_upd archive? There was no icon for AutoInstall and thus no real program saved which should start it. Notepad is the default on your system, which is used everytime a program is not specified. IconX crashed, because it cannot work with Installer files Change the program to "Installer" instead of IconX and off you go...

@LyleHaze Quote: All of this assumes that your scummVM program is opening camd.library..
To give you an idea what ScummVM is... I don't code it, i'll do the port (sometimes), maybe i can even interest you in adding camd.lib support, if nothing helps?

@Rigo Quote: Is this only when using a theme? Have you tried it with the GUI defaults?
I will try that. Just one more info, funnily this only adapts to when a new download is available, say when the field is already checkmarked due to a doenload available. After the download i get the same field (with the same information on whats available) EMPTY and fully drawn (if i now checkmark it it works correctly - WHY i get that second unchecked field after download, is beyond me, though) Quote: /me runs after Raziel screaming...:)
AAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh edit: Original theme: Aqua theme: As you can see the Aqua theme is a "liitle" better due to some changes in GUI prefs, but still cut

@LyleHaze Quote: Yes, that is correct. If it doesn't open CAMD, then CAMD won't work with it.
Exception: In the early days of CAMD there was only "in.0" and "out.0", both from the builtin serial port.
If the program tries to open camd.library and will only connect to "out.0", then yes, you CAN use OS4 camd.. You only have to use the "MidiThru" shell command like this:
midithru out.0 via686.out.0
That command will "create" out.0 and feed everything coming into it to via686.out.0
All of this assumes that your scummVM program is opening camd.library..
Oh Then is most defintitely won't work as ScummVM cannot know about CAMD.library from Amigaland...hmmm Still, ScummVM relies on the system it runs on to provide a "default" MIDI port to be opened and use this, so it shouldbe possible to simply open up the MIDI port with a little program, then start ScummVM and see if it spits something out. I'll try the midithru command you mentioned Is there a little command that opens via686.out.0?

@LyleHaze
So, what your saying basically is
If a program does't know about camd it can't use MIDI?
e.g. ScummVM has no possibility to choose the MIDI driver to explicitely speak to. It just assumes there is a default one set and tries to use that one.
Hmm, seems i have to wait for the hardware and try...
Thanks for the clarification

@Mason I know the rules say "One request per member", but as i saw that you took HD icons onto your list, i'd like to bend the rules a litte, if i may? I'm really missing a Tools and Temp HD icon (these are the two still missing from your awesome HD icons package) Of course, if you'd put the request on the bottom of your list, i'd still be happy

@Swoop
idetool just covers all possible units you maybe can use with more modern hardware/pci cards (maybe useable with upcoming drivers?).
I got these lines too with my onboard ide, but cut them out for readability

CAMD, OS4 and MIDI hardware

I got me a Roland MT-32 MIDI hardware and am now looking for someone to lend me a hand in installing it properly.
Hardware-wise all is done, i have the cables and the module hooked up properly.
Most of all i like to know where i can set and save the default MIDI device for the system (and third party programs) to see (so that i don't have to choose the device everytime i boot into Workbench again?)
I like to use it mainly (for now) as a sound enhancement in ScummVM, but am looking for further possible usage, of course.
Any help greatly appreciated

@Rigo Quote: OK, as we now know, this is related to being started iconified, so can you run the program normally, then iconify it, uniconify it, then quit. Is the corruption back again?
Nope, no messed up colors, running as expected...strange Quote: Also, which iconify method do you use? Icon, menu, or both?
My ToolTypes on AmiUpdate: Quote: (NOGFX) SERVER = www.amiupdate.net EMAILADDRESS=myemail@dress STARTICONIFIED MENU SCANDELAY = 60 KEEPUNPACKED (NOAUTOUPDATE) LOGFILE = RAM:t/au.log (PGP=pgpv) (VERBOSE)
NOTE: STARTICONIFIED is () out for now As you can see, i wrongly assumed that MENU is a useable ToolType which is not (as i'm now aware of after RTFM). I ought to use ICONIFYAS=MENU to make it work that way!? I don't know which method is used when i leave out ICONIFYAS and only use STARTICONIFIED but i assume MENU isn't used then and only the icon remains? (I can't see it in the Tools menu anyway using this method) So, to sum it up, i only have the icon on Workbench when i STARTICONIFIED

@Rigo
Internet is up and running (don't have AmiUpdate in WBStarup anymore) when AU is started.
Regardless of starting it from Icon (double click) or from AmiDock Icon (click)...after closing it, the corruption comes up for whatever program i choose
