Re: USB Printers & OS4.1 on Samflex

@rwo

Great thread and verry usefull tool from rwo

The links that I have found easily and put on my last answers aren't sufficient to found a DOT4 printer ???

For sure, It's possible to see the online manual of the printer on the manufacturers site to found real DOT4 or Not.

RWO, what do you think about this bounty (sponsored by amiga users) ??? You need hardware, you baught one and we paid (of course not high level price hardware

NOTE: I'm sure there will be low cost DOT4 printer on the supermarket near us...

@Amiga1200Mark

Hello and welcome here.

A bounty have been opened to help RWO to found a DOT4 printer (new or second hand) for developping a DOT4 driver for AOS4.

The usefull thing we now need is to have a RWO news about what printer he have choosen (from his supermarket or second hand one) and the cost.

He baught the printer and take the money on the bounty as a refund.

After we all do that for other hardware but of course if someone near his home have a free DOT4 printer, It's even better. Finally all is possible.

The best is to see RWO posting here

honestly, I'm not real involved for this driver myself because printing at job (rarely) but It's a kind of general idea. For example, in case he need some webcams for specific raw/bulk drivers for AOS4, I will be pleased to give some money for supporting webcam transfret protocol.

@all

The bounty is created:

http://amigabounty.net/?function=viewproject&projectid=48

Maybe the best is to know from RWO what printer he could baught near his location (new or second hand or maybe if someone want to give one for him and paid the postage) and surely the money will be given by some AOS4 user here.

Like that, he could test and make the driver.

See my links about ideas of DOT4 printer.

thanks for all the answers and hope xad_rar will have multi rar support one day...

Sorry, I'm not a developper, the only thing I could do is ask kindly or paid for the feature (no problems).

@Troels

see this link:

http://driver.wareseeker.com/free-dot4/

I think, not involved directly on this thread (because just have an old printer) but DOT4 seemed to be the all in one printer/scanner/card reader,... we could found actually on our local supermarket.

I let user with better knowledge than me maybe add more comments for this point.

EDIT: Monday mroning:

http://download.wareseeker.com/dot4/

Same site but more complete DOT4 printer list (for informations)

@all

Just for resurrected an old thread (but just related to USB and SAM).

Sometime copy USB stop strangely. This time a memguard hits when copying a file to a Memory stick adaptator.

The hit came and dopus4 PPC stop to copy. just reboot the SAM.

@328gts

what kind of bounty ????

Money for a second hand printer for Sirion support

OR

Money for second hand USB hardware (printer, webcam,..) for Sirion support

USB Hardware is hardware who need special class for running on the Amiga (like the class of poseidon).

Hello,

I would like to know how proposing a bounty for being posted on Amigabounty ???

- Must just send a normal mail to amigabounty administrators ???

- The programmer or the user should propose an amigabounty ???

- Who spread the news on other amiga related sites ???

- All kind of projects could be proposed (original or ported projects) ???

Others interesting point will be welcomed

This is a kind of general request, mainly for:

- all users who want to propose a bounty
- For programmers who want to know before started if users will be interested by a project and to know if an ammont of money could be disposed at start.

I'm sorry if allready something exist but I haven't found some explanations....

OK. give us some news or ask some help if needed.

Maybe the best is to found a good list of DOT4 printer available (don't know if the link I have given on one of my previous answer is correct).

BTW Raw and isochronous transfert with USB (webcams) is planned for AOS4.x ???

@bitman

That will be great if you could found a printer for RWO (second hand, old, spare or should be paid at low prize,....).

Let RWO put his point of view onthis thread and if money needed for the printer, maybe 2-3 users here could help...

@RWO

And if you want to add raw and bulk support for webcam (if not the case allready), I'm sure some users have old webcams or some of them could buy you webcams (because webcams are small and easy to send by mail, not the case for an all in one printer).

Yes, I know It's not the subject of this thread but if you need something to help you for improving USB on AOS4.1 (testers, hardware,....), ask the amiga community and maybe you will received great help

There are allways something possible to help if we all talk about the problem together

@DAX

I have no printer.... but there are a possibility to found one somewhere IMHO.

I think the best is rwo to found one near his home (second hand the best) and ask money for buying the printer for adding the features.

BTW, now I know it's more than a simple printer but an all in one printer, maybe the prize is much more.

Question: Normal simple USB printer work with AOS4 and USB ???

DOT4 example printers:

http://driver.wareseeker.com/free-dot4/

example of printers who use DOT4.

No cash depot (second hand low prize shop)somewhere near your house, with second hand DOT4 printer available ???

Who knows if a printer for few money could be found for testing and adding dot4.

I'm sure if you could found one old at low prize, one of the amiga member here will paid the printer for you

IMHO More better to rwo to found one printer for low money and let another amig auser pay for the feature and rwo keep to printer after...

DOT4 is a protocol that allows a device that is part of a multifunction peripheral ( MFP ) to send and receive multiple data packets simultaneously across a single physical channel to other devices on the MFP. All data exchanges are independent of one another so the canceling of one does not affect the others. An example of an MFP is the OfficeJet series from Hewlett-Packard ( HP ), which are devices that contain a scanner , printer , and fax machine all in one. The DOT4 protocol is specified in IEEE 1284.4, an enhancement of the original IEEE 1284 protocol for parallel ports on personal computers (PC). While many MFP devices still use the parallel port, there is a shift to Universal Serial Bus ( USB ) for the high-speed connection of peripheral devices.
