@Capehill & kas1e

Looks like something else maybe causing the issue which is triggered by CPU_Watcher.Can't reproduce with clean Update 2.
Will see if I can locate the culprit .

@NinjaCyborg

Tracked down my issue with text copy in the shell to a third party program called CPU_Watcher version 0.7 .

@NinjaCyborg

Just just had a lock up with a copy and paste operation so looks like you may be correct about the update having possible issues.

Edit : Cant duplicate when booting with a clean AmigaOS FE Update 2 with no 3 party programs loaded.

@NinjaCyborg

An OS update can put extra stress on your machine and components . Especially one with an updated kernel.
If no one else seems to have this problem then it is likely that the issue is being cased by some factor in your configuration. Either hardware or software .

From personal experience the following issues have caused my Sam460ex to experience instability at one time:

(1)Filesystem Maxtransfer setting incorrect.
(2)CPU fan disconnected .
(3)Graphics Card not properly seated.
(4)Defective power supply .

@NinjaCyborg

Not seeing any instability up to now on a Sam460ex.
Did not do a fresh install instead installed as an update to my old installation .
Your issue could be hardware related so dont rule that out .

In the past I have had some instability while copying large files.
Tracked it down to a weird issue with the power supply.
Even though the power supply apparently tested ok it cased a problem. Swapped out the power supply for another of the same model and the problem stopped. Reinstalled the problematic power supply and the problem reappeared . so went back to the second one and problem ceased .

U-Boot was showing with the version from 4+ years ago so the actual test is if AmiagaOS 4.1 boots.

The device id would show the exact PEX version in the adapter. in the old log below it indicates PEX8112 .

Re: Install CD boots kickstart from CD then boots from HD ...

You can force it to boot from the same volume that it loaded Kickstart modules from (normally it will always boot from the volume with the highest boot priority, but I think a CD has infinite priority).

Go into U-Boot command line and type:
"setenv os4_bootdevice auto"
"saveenv"

--- then it will always boot from the same volume it loaded KS from.
cheers

@arfcarl

Currently just one definitively public broken board of each type. Both Mine .

Sianan's issue still needs to be troubleshooted by AmigaKit and if not resolution then motherboard examined by them .

Do you happen live in an area that might have higher than usual sulphide gas emissions ?

@trixie

X5000 Motherboard only so in the US$1625.00 range then .

Similar to Sinan .
Was working in the morning. Turned off.
Tried to turn of afternoon of the same day and nothing. Not even blinking light or any fan movement .
Was on a UPS and the powersupply was ok.

Officials A-EON Finding:
Some substance appeard to be on the Motherboard.
Something was casusing a short.

Also had a Tabor die on me during the warranty period prior to purchasing the X5000 .

Flashing lights and brief spin of the fan .
Damage not covered by Warranty.
Official A-Eon finding :
Corrosion around the NIC area.

I trust that my issues were just bad luck and that nothing like that lurks for other A-Eon customers down the road.

@SinanSam460

Good luck.

My motherboard was a full price purchase .
A-EON said my damage was not covered for free repairs or replacement under the warranty.
About 9 Months later I was offered a discount on a replacement motherboard as it was going to take a while for any possible paid repairs.
I have up to now not taken up that offer.
So no X5000 now for over 2 years .

@SinanSam460

I know your pain .

Possible that either one of the components or the Motherboard itself may have developed a short.

Best to open up a support ticket with Amigakit if you have not done so yet.

Don't know how much experience they have gained in repairing X5000 mother boards over the last 2 years .
My original motherboard warranty repairs never got off the ground .

@kas1e

v1.16 Configuration can still be adjusted manually using the text config file .
You just have to locate the ZitaFTP.config file in SYS:Prefs/Env-Archive/KeaSigmaDelta/ZitaFTP/ .
