Come on guys cut him some slack. Requests just don't happen, this is almost like building a new OS on top of an OS. Let Ed develop what he sees is important first. He might ask for help if and when he needs it.

Ubuntu

Over the past few years I have tried the various flavorus of Linux on my A1 and my PC collection. On my A1 I am very impressed with Debian but after trying Ubuntu on my P4 G3Dual I am blown away.

I have also always run Debian on my PCs but hit the same walls as I did on my A1, Ubuntu fixes this. Give it a try, the speed increase over WinXP is unbelievable. It doesn't mean you give up XP for good but if you are smart you can start to live a safer life under Ubuntu and yet still retain the ability to play your favorite Windows games. and easily share your data.

OK From Dr Ace, take 2 days (not tablets) and go to bed tonight. Release everything tomorrow, it will feel good, you know it! -:)

@ssolie

Same here in Adelaide SA. I used to be able to tune to Edinburgh RAAF Airbase (2km from me) but now I can only get Adelaide Airport (40km away and next to the sea) so the temperature variable can be significant (usually 2-8C)

Never the less it is still a very nice program.

ace

Oh yeah I get the Ghana bit too, mind you the temperatures are probably similar in my circumstances!

@cygnusEd

I just fired Inkscape up under debian Stable/A1 and it is a nice program indeed. Some extensions were not implemented, so a warning gave me but it also said the program will fubction as normal. No idea what those extensions were though. Is there any way to find out in case they may be the issues facing an AOS4 port?

Damn, I am screwed for the moment as Quake 2 will not reinstall, there is a serious DSI error associated with the install process which I can't get around. I am waiting to copy a backup from my brother.

Trues, getting the foundation correct is paramount. What Hyperion has done is lay a great foundation, now it is up to the builders.

Try it under Debian Stable on an A1. No problems at all, fast and accurate.

Re: Beta & Preview: 32-bit Masonicons for Envoy

@Mason

As I stated in an earlier post I prefer the older style icons at this stage BUT I have to admit the freshness of your new icons is starting to work on me!

It doesn't mean I don't appreciate your work as I know many others love this style.

I asked klesterjr if he could consider making some HD icons with shared motifs or singular motifs for the various OS' ie Windows, Linux and Mac (and shared with boingball or something). I store data and share some HDs between these systems and having matching icons would be great in either style. It also would indicate the ability of AOS4 to interact with these mainline systems (to some ectent)

Cheers

@ikir
Do you want some help trying, if so pm me. It is very fast and the potential is great. Some of the later software offerings such as Amaya don't seem to want to work under Final, even with a reinstall but Gimp etc is worth a play around with even if trying to understand the Unix like dir/file structures.

This has huge potenntial for AOS4 users in filling some gaps as the OS re-establishes.

@Mason

I really hate saying this knowing how much hard work you have put into these and AOS4 in general, I don't like it. There doesn't seem to be much colour, it looks like most of the icons are based on B, W and grey.

Sorry really not my taste, I prefer the style of KL.
