@sacc-dude
I had to boot from the CD because my installation wouldn't let me change the screen size. I am encountering a bud, that seems to be an issue of compatibility between the Radeon HD 7700 series card and OS4.1.
It happens every time I change the resolution down from the resolution that I want to use, say to play Gorky or something, which is on a small resolution window, and I want to blow it up by using a smaller resolution on my monitor. If I switch down to say 800x600, when I want to go back up to 1536x2048 ARGB32 @ ~60Hz, I can use the Test tool, and the test screen displays perfectly on the monitor. Once I click the Save button, Workbench tried to restart, to no avail, and once I reboot the system, hello 800x600.
Sorry it took so long to reply, I was so hella frustrated at now the 4th time I've reinstalled the OS, that I didn't mess with her for almost a week. Well that and I got a Nintendo Switch :P yummmm Zelda :) But once it goes down there just is no changing the resolution back up... stuck. Almost called Amiga on the Lake to tell them I need a new video card, but reinstalled instead since I know I can get it back to where I need it after a fresh install and the addition of the Enhancer Pack.
Once I have a perfectly working and prepared installtion on DH0, I will be backing up to an alternate partition so in the event it somehow happens again (unlikely since I know that every time I change the resolution down it happens) I can fix it without having to reinstall the whole OS again. I probably could just backup the drawer that stores the data files the prefs modify, but just as easy to backup the entire partition.
Thanks for the advice though.

@tonyw My sound card doesn't seem to have any issues, and knew about the RAM issue. Can't wait to see the release that opens up more RAM. Maybe some applications won't crash as often since there is so much more space to lay in data, and applications touching other applications mem space. I don't think its related to having a full 16GB of RAM. When I say halting, the machine itself was freezing often, but more commonly now is just application freezes. It just seems more stable with an alternate theme from the original... The main issue now is I have to reinstall cause the graphics setup broke again Once it resizes to a smaller resolution, I can't upscale it. When I go to a larger resolution the screen just scrolls in an 800x600 square. I found the directory where Workbench reads the resolution so after this install, if it were to happen again, I'll just boot from cd and overwrite the folder in the sys and should fix that screen issue. Going to actually test it before getting everything setup again

@sacc-dude Have the the most expensive enhancer pack and the proper radeon drivers. Tried fiddling with the screen mode quite a bit and now she freezes when trying to boot. Looks like the prefs are saved in this directory when modified: SYS:Prefs/Env-Archive And Upon boot the running config is copied into the RAM to: RAM:Env More about system assigned direcoriesThe trouble is it's stored in a data chunk so not sure that I can edit it directly. It's stored in the SCRM data chunk. struct ScreenModePrefs { ULONG sm_Reserved[4]; ULONG sm_DisplayID; /* Displaymode ID */ UWORD sm_Width; /* Screen width */ UWORD sm_Height; /* Screen height */ UWORD sm_Depth; /* Screen depth */ UWORD sm_Control; /* BIT 0, Autoscroll yes/no */ }; Pref File InfoWill bother with it tomorrow. At least if I have to reinstall, I can backup the HD directory containing these data chunks so if it all goes south again I can just overwrite the directory while booted from CD. What a mess this screenmode issue has been. If anyone knows of a tool to directly modify these chunks besides the pref tools, which won't work while booted from CD, I'd forever be in debt to you... I'll likely reinstall tomorrow after getting my WB partition backed-up then get my screenmodes corrected, then overwrite all directories but the SYS:Prefs/Env-Archive directory.

I have had this issue since receiving my X5000, after changing the screen to a smaller screen size, the damn thing won't change to a larger screen. I'm so tired of this, is there some file that I can manually edit in memacs to force the hardware to use a certain screen size? I've tried manually forcing it to use a screen mode in screenmode, but nothing works.
SO TIRED OF REINSTALLING...

Haven't had the greatest success keeping my system from halting on me, but after switching the theme to the Crystal theme at OS4Depot I haven't had the machine lock-up on me quite as much. Don't see how this can affect the stability of the machine, but prior to switching, when I would click on the calendar, occasionally the top bar and the Calendar window would flash and wouldn't let me select other windows on the screen for a few seconds. Doesn't seem to suffer from this issue now. Fingers crossed!
Has anyone else had issues with applications halting and not being able to close them? I would love to know how anyone else deals with this. I tried the KillApps executable included with the soft shutdown package on OS4Depot, nothing there, and the applications will no longer show up on Exchange or AppManager. Is there any way in the shell to force these puppies closed?
Thanks!!

This would be great! I've always wondered why there never has been a laptop released, always assumed it was due to the high-temp that PPC architecture seems to run at; that's why Apple never released the G5 in a laptop.
I'm assuming design of newer PPC may have found a solution to circumvent this issue. If nothing else, could go with a G4 chip.

Fairly certain this library isn't available anywhere in the Amiga world. Do end users that want to use the library have to download the linux source and crosscompile it for AmigaOS? I know little about crosscompilation, but if anyone knows if I am on the right track please let me know. Ask Ubuntu about libQTWebKit.soCan I simply use the varient of the SO compiled for the PPC version of Ubuntu? I checked and can't find a version for MorphOS or 68k. Found the source for libQTWebKit, couldn't get the zip download to work, but found the URL with MacOS. Don't know how to compile for Amiga OS4 now that I have the source locally; I'm guessing that I need to use cmake or some OS4 varient. Not certain if that source will the the one that I need in order to compile for Amiga, or if you can compile it for Amiga on OS4 itself. Gosh, the learning curve... Sure wish that A-EON would license and release the most vital libraries for homebrewed games and common applications in the Enhancer pack.

Well, I found a way to do it, but I'm not sure if I like it all the time now. The classimple theme does it automatically, you can still right click > open to leave the previous drawer window open. The other option propose, WorkbenchExplorer, is a great alternative to the standard file manager, and has many great features.. thank you mritter0! @Severin Thank you for throwing those shortcuts up there, very helpful indeed, despite the sarcasm

Posted on the SMTube post, but think may get an answer faster if I post an inquery directly targetting a response for this SObj. Does anyone know where I can find libQTWebKit? I checked OS4Depot and Aminet, but no luck.
If anyone can post a link to an uploaded file, or refer me to a hyperlink where the file would be accessible, I will forever be greatful.
Thank you!

Opening drawers within the same window - Possible?

Good day,
I'm trying to determine if there I any way to have drawers open in the already open window, not creating scores of new windows with each new branch of the folder structure.
I know that OS4 is an attempt at preserving the functionality of the old Workbench environments, but it seems that this feature might be something that would benefit the new versions so you don't end up with so many windows open on the screen, having to close them all after accessing the drawer your looking for.
Don't mean to offend any developers if the preference of most users is to have all windows represented, but if there is a way that I can get them to open in one window then I would love for someone to enlighten me as to how I can do so.
Stay golden...

Thank you, when so is there any benefit to using the AmiUpdate utility to install applications? I.E., if I run AutoInstall for SMTube, will AmiUpdate grab the Libs/SObjs that are not available, but necessary to run the given application?
I guess I could try it out, but just wondering, maybe the answer will help other users besides just myself.

I downloaded the most current version of SMTube, extracted the lha file and placed the app folder in my Programs: dir. Upon execution of the software I get an error related to QT: Failed to load shared object libQTWebKit.so I tried locating this SO on OS4Depot, but no dice. I tried downloading the sources from: http://subversion.assembla.com/svn/smplayer/smtube/trunk/srcBut, I can't execute the command svn co because I don't have svn installed in the C: I tried finding svn on OS4Depot, again, no luck finding it. Another somewhat related question, when I cd to a directory containing the AutoInstall file, and I use run AutoInstall, the shell lets me know that the file is not executable. I also tried AutoInstall, for the SMTube installer file, via sh AutoInstall and results in the following error: Ram:AutoInstall[1]: syntax error: `;' unexpected I'm terribly sorry if these questions seem juvenile, but I am new to OS4 and really like the OS and want to make full use of it. Your generous support is greatly appreciated!

Finding SObjs for Lunaroid - Not on OS4Depot

Good evening,
I'm trying to find out how or where I can find the SObjs for Lunaroid that I am missing in my SObjs dir. I found some of them on 0S4Depot, but they are SDK releases that have no binaries compiled. I would love to know what I can use and how to use it, to compile down these libs on OS4.1, but simply a url where I can download the following libraries are fine:
1) libSDL_ttf.so 2) libSDL_mixer-1.2.so 3) libmpeg-0.4.so
I greatly appreciate your help, and please excuse my lack of knowlege, I'm new to OS4.
