@thomas

io_Error = 0

I get the data I need after the 2en read operation, so it does work.

I think works in the same way; I know there some limitations, on what type of packages that can be sent, for example I don?t think ping works, general TCP/IP packages should work, but I have not tested this.

@pjs

I have not tested network..

I'm currently adding RDB support to Basilisk 2, because I hate the current format where you need to add start block, and size of partition in blocks, in Amiga world the partitions are defined as LowCyl, HiCyl, this means that you need to calculate where the partition starts.

Start in blocks = LowCyl * heads * sectors_per_track.
Size in blocks = (HiCyl ? LowCyl) * Heads * sectors_per_track

It?s so easy to do some thing wrong, and when you repartition your disk, you might get big problems whit the old format.

That?s way decided to change the format in configuration file to

disk /dev/device/unit/devicename

device=a1ide.device
unit=0
devicename=mac0

I don?t really care where problem is, 16bit works ok
(Whit out direct video output)

I will try direct video in 8 bit maybe that works better.

Re: Hyperion does poor repairs?

@Snuffy

Hyperion properly do not tri repairing it them self, but most have sent it to some one how does for example DCE, DCE does not have the best service record when it comes to reaping things on time.

Maybe DCE collects X number broken board then make order of X CPU?s, to get discount, instead of ordering X number of CPU?s and have this in storage until a broken CPU board comes (on option 2 DCE risk having storage to long, the CPU goes out of warranty, and discover way to late the product was DOA, and there for ends up whit extra cost.)

E-UAE only does support direct IO to cdroms, real partitions are off limit.

What it does support is FileSystem emulation, and Disk image emulation.

@Mikey_C

Basilisk 2 does support hacking in start block blocks size and so manually

Basilisk 2 does support 64 bit disk addressing, but I do not know what MacOS software does when finds partitions larger then 2Gb or 4Gb.

FYI: the byte order is reverse between big and little endian modes (not the word order).

ARGB (BE) and BGRA (LE) is constructed formats, while GBAR is what you get when you having (BE) and (LE) problems,

Int32 the words are in revere order.
Int16 the bytes the bytes are reverse order.
Bytes are the same in Intel and Motorola format.

@Hans

@Hans
Well that?s how ARGB PowerPC / MC680X0 format looks in Intel format,
I have tried optimizing a bit, but 32 bit is slower.

@Elwood
I have tried writing my own Blit command, but it does not give and major effect.

@all
Some good news, in 16bit it a lot faster, but no direct video.

A possibility for 16bit / 32bit direct video is to allocate memory page, then set the memory area as read only, set up fault handler, and implement some kind byte swap on write, I have no idea how fast this can be, I like do some experiments but its a big job to implement
(I think).

Re: Basilisk 2

@Mikey_C

Yester day I did some coding.

* Fixed the mode ID string gadget
* Overlay now works
* Full screen now works

Yet to do:

* Find out way sound does not work
* Some GUI stuff that does not work.

Some bad news:

I?m unable to do direct video access to screens, because AmigaOS does not have a GBAR colour format (Green, Blue, Alfa, Red), so colours are messed up if I try, maybe it works better in 16bit I have not tried, I have therefore decided to render in to a bitmap whit BltBitMapRastPort() this way colour conversion is done automatically (but it?s slower).

Yes, processor is slower, but Amiga OS NEWER needed fast processors :), only some coding/decoding...

Mhz is not just about doing coding/decoding but the ability to execute many instructions per second, if how ever memory speed is to slow you will not be able to fetch instructions in ideal speed, won?t get any ideal performance out Ghz CPU.

This effects how many programs you can run at the same time, or how well 3D game will run, but don?t get me wrong memory speed is important, not just the CPU, I think many under estimate the need for fast memory access.

Even so I think Sam440 will be able to run full screen DivX, videos, play your MP3?s and surf the web, and all that, but for 3D video rendering or some like that, or Classic OS3.x emulation you need all the CPU you can throw at it.

@BillE

Because it?s designed for industry, companies does use this terminals for CPU hungry applications what?s way there is no quad core CPU on it.

Low powered PC are often called pc terminals and used in application ranging from:

automation, truck and pos terminals, the idea is connect to server, and run low CPU consumption applications on pc terminals, some terminals does not even have HD connector, because boot using the network, this simplify the administrating of the clients and reduce costs for disks.
