Re: Documents for old Amiga software

Google for "LSD Docs Disk". The LSD Docs Disks had manuals for hundreds of apps and games.

Backslashes in the readme text for files on OS4Depot are removed when you view them. Maybe an addslashes() is needed somewhere?

Re: CUST Music format ...

Not too shy to talk

The problem with CUST modules is that because the replayer is inside the module, the player program (be it delitracker or eagleplayer) has very little control over what the replayer does. It might, for example, try and use more of the hardware than delitracker or eagleplayer usually does. It might use paula audio directly and ignore all AHI settings, it might use more than just CIAs for timing, it might try and use the 68k vector table directly. So trying it on an AmigaOne is unlikely to work (although its not impossible).

@nubechecorre

CUST is "custom" format. It basically includes the replayer code inside of it because the music is in a very rare format for which there is no general replayer.

DeliTracker should be able to play it.

@Hans

It is on Hyperions "to-do" list for OS4.x to completely replace the graphics system. APIs like graphics.library, intuition.library, layers.library and Picasso96API.library will still be available, but only as stubs which wrap to the new system.

The new system would be GPU based (OpenGL would be the underlying layer to everything).

@joerg

If you released such a library, either myself or Stephen would patch the dockies to use it, i'm sure.

@joerg

The CPUClock.docky (and therefore the CPUInfo.docky) installs a -127 priority task which busy loops incrementing a counter.

Heh. They should have called it "first life". Why would you need to play it if you already had a life?

Stephen actually created pretty much that before removing the clock and date to make cpuinfo.docky...

HivelyTracker compo deadline SOON
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

Hi folks,

The deadline for the HivelyTracker competition is drawing close, and we need more entries. All you have to do is compose a tune using HivelyTracker and you could win a C64-DTV, which has been kindly donated by ggsdata.se!

You have until the 31st of January to get your entries in. If you don't have an AmigaOne, or an Amiga with 060, you can run it in WinUAE. If you install AmiKit, you get HivelyTracker pre-installed and ready to go!

So theres no excuse! Get composing

Competition page

If you've never used AHX, and find HivelyTracker difficult to use, there is a forum on hivelytracker.com, and the (small but friendly) HivelyTracker community will help you out.

@Paul

I always laugh when i see people, who have never owned an AmigaOne, going on about how unreliable they are, and how broken they are, when mine has been very reliable for years. DMA, ethernet, USB, everything that is "supposedly" broken works great for me with OS4. I guess I just don't know what I'm talking about, eh?

What about the ones that are free, but the author has said they would like PayPal donations if the users think its worth it, like Wookiechat or Cranu?

It might work on classic. It won't work on anything without "the chipset", since the games and demos that it patches pretty much all use the chipset directly.
