Re: Gui4Cli : Bookmark structure manager for OWB, Netsurf and IBrowse

Not too shy to talk

@JosDuchIt

I am trying to play with gui4cli but it is a pain to import one object from the "library" window to the new window !

is this due to the composition mode being on ?
how does it work for you ??

@ Gazelle : ok understood will try to get an xml -> html converter for AOS3.x or AOS4.x (dont know any, at least not included in the system)

@ Chris and Michael Merkel : my point was that it crashed badly when IMPORTING current xml address book. it might be ok if you use it for years, therefore not needing to import anything
will make another attempt.

@Gazelle

this one does not work properly under aos4 and simplemail !
tried it years ago and always crashed, also the layout of the simplemail .newaddressbook.xml has changed and AFAIK ContactManager is not developped anymore.

I would be very happy if I could print all my contacts with email, post address and phone number within simplemail (or another application which could import these datas and print them as table)

thx for the info, at least I know which filesystem to use if I need to repair (SFS2).

* BUMP *

the interesting thing is that when I opened the drawers, the WB failed to display the whole tree whereas dopus4 not only displays the tree but make the valid drawers "viewable"

sfs 1.286 blockid
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

Hi All,
I am doing all my backups on my external Lacie 2.5" USB HD but at the moment, it complains about blockid and keep throwing requesters which needs hundreds of click to get rid off...

I did a SFScheck and here is the output :

Partition start offset : 0x00000000:2d630000 End offset : 0x0000000a:2c41a000
Surfaces : 1 Blocks/Track : 48
Bytes/Block : 512 Sectors/Block : 1
Total blocks : 83849040
Device interface : NSD (64-bit)

Checking RootBlocks
...okay
Checking AdminSpaceContainers at block 2
Block 31295 is not a valid admin block but it is marked in use in AdminSpaceContainer at 30725
Dump of first 64 bytes of block 31295.
0x0000: 2d353738 3539382d 31392d31 33303335 -578598-19-13035
0x0010: 38352d30 2d302d31 36313537 30382d30 85-0-0-1615708-0

0x0030: 656f732e 636f6d25 76743231 3531340a eos.com%vt21514J
...damaged

so now what should I do ? there are some folders which I can not access anymore and it was a backup...
what filesystem should I use to avoid such problems in the future ? I dont think the error is due to the HD since it is only used for backup purpose and is less than 2 years old !

BTW : sfscheck is showing block 31295 as culprit but the requester is giving another blockid error 31338 ("Expected 0x4E444320 but the block says says it is blockid 0x616DE96E")

I guess he is talking about SuperMarioWars

Freespace was working fine under AOS4.0 AFAIR but I should try it again just to see if I am facing the same problem !

Thanks for the info on SMW...interesting game!

Yes, please try Freespace again so we can know if it's a problem with one of the recent updates or if it's a configuration problem on my end. I know it was working under OS4 Final, but not having played it for a while I don't know if it stopped working after update 1 or 2.

Ok I tried it under AOS4.1upd2 and I have the same problem as you : game is stuck at the loading screen, between the first video (hyperion intro) and the second (freespace intro). I deleted my old prefs to start from scratch but it does not help...
but it is still working under AOS4.0 !

so another nice game not working ! I do remember hyperion stated to release 3 games (ports) for AOS4.0 : one was a mod Q3, another one was Freespace II and forgot the last one but nothing materialized

Have you tried SMW & OTTD from OS4Depot? they too are OS4 Games.

What's SMW? Thanks for the OTTD recommendation...

you can not install PPC games with UAE, simply because it does not emulate/support PPC but only 68k !

@328gts

dosbox in the actual AOS4 version does not seem to support real cdrom and virtual ones (would be extremely usefull if you could mount the CD with diskimagegui and let dosbox knows about it )

the only thing to do is to copy the content of the CD to a directory but if the application/game needs the CD, than it is a no-go.

@Chris

thx for this new release !

for me I can not install it on AOS4.1 u1 because so far it always triggers DSI error at 30% which can not be bypassed (Crash log for task "Installer"
Generated by GrimReaper 53.2
Crash occured in module newlib.library.kmod at address 0x0165B378
Type of crash: DSI (Data Storage Interrupt) exception)

tried cairo and default theme
tried graphics and default theme
tried cairo and aiss

EDIT: under AOS4.1, the installation process went fine.

can u try these :

grep -r wizard /path to folder/

grep -l 'wizard' *.c

grep -l 'wizard' /path to folder/*.c

here is the outcome :
6.JHO:Freedink-OS4/dink/Story> grep -r wizard JHO:Freedink-OS4/dink/Story/

@ Centaurz : nice, I did not know search could work like this ! thanks

[SOLVED] using grep
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

Hi All,
this might sound like a stupid question which I could find the answer in the doc but err no I did not find it...

I am looking for the word "wizard" inside a bunch of .c files so I am launching grep (os4 version, not from the sdk) :
grep -V
GNU grep 2.5.4

grep wizard *
grep: *: No such file or directory
grep wizard *.*
grep: *.*: No such file or directory
grep wizard #?.c
grep: #?.c: No such file or directory
grep wizard *.c
grep: *.c: No such file or directory

but
grep wizard apotion.c button6.c
does work but I dont want to do that because the drawer contains 400 files !

so what is supposed to be the right way of searching a word inside a bunch of files ??

nice effort but it does not seem to work

nuclear /host or nuclear "/connect ip"
brings a "failed resolving host" message.

maybe a little bit explanations in the readme on how to start playing will help beginners like me

EDIT: nevermind, the txt file explaining how to play was hidden under another icon !

addmenu http://os4depot.net/index.php?functio ... =utility/misc/addmenu.lha

I am not using it but as an alternative, you could edit the contextmenu script and add the tools you need there and launch it from the WB, and not only from the WB menu

@328gts

no I mean in the game itself.

anyway if you made an error in the settings, there is always the possibility to delete the riders.cfg and srb2riders.dat and restart the game (these files are generated automagically when they are missing).
