@ all

If it's of any use, the yellow revcoverable alert I get with following info:

Error: 08030000

Task: 0x52CD47A0 although this one varies!

It was a recoverable alert, will post exactly what it says later.

Hi all

Since upgrading my SAM460 to be fitted with a Radeon HD 4260 gfx card I can no longer use DVPlayer, every time I double click it's icon to run I get yellow 'recoverable alert' warning followed by grim reaper that I have attached. When grim reaper appears I also get massive screen corruption which makes me think it's something to do with graphics but not certain! I have installed update 4 (used to happen under update 3 also) and latesr HD driver from Acube.

Here are my settings in tool types:

I have had my SAM460 for about 4 months, so battery must have been duff when it was fitted by AmigaKit, but they prob had them on the shelf for a long time and didn't realise they were duff. I will ring them tomorrow to let them know, when I checked it with a meter it was showing 0.1 volts rarher than 3 volts!

SAM460 not booting..... resolved

Hi All

Was using my SAM460 Thurs evening all working fine. Switched it on Sat afternoon, kickstart loaded, went to splash screen but no further! Tried several times and eventually booted into a workbench screen with grimreaper saying something about ehci problem!

I took my system to ANT meeting today and after much investigation and re-installing OS4.1.2 from scratch still not booting, only booting from CD!!

After much investigating it seemed that anything relating to time prefs was the problem and checked time within u-boot to discover that time was set to year 2092???

We checked the battery on the motherboard and it was dead, and somehow the time had been corrupted within u-boot.

You check the time within u-boot by interupting it and putting in 'date' which wiil show the time and date within u-boot. Set the correct time and date manually and my SAM460 come back to life booting normally again.

A big thank you to all ANT members who helped my find the problem today, particularly ChrisH and Robert Williams........ thanks guys

Gotta get myself a CR2032 cell for the motherboard now but it's working fine without it for now........ phew

Is there any way I can set time preferences to keep current time every time I reboot my machine. I have set the remote server and can get the time but whenever I reboot it is all lost! Is there any way or a program available to be able to connect and get time remotely every time I boot up?

Seems a little disappointing that my Amiga cannot show correct time until I manually either set the time from my watch or remotely get it every time my system boots, find it really annoying!

I'm running DVP registered (you too?) on Sam460 with Update 3 without such problems.

Yes that's what Stephen Fellner was telling me too, so maybe it's something else that's causing it indirectly?

I get a GrimReaper too but it's far too complex ffor someone like me to understand!

DVPlayer problems

I am having major problems with DVPlayer on my SAM460 since upgrading to update 3!

If I launch DVPlayer (full version or demo version) instantly I get screen corruption, loads of random lines and colours. Do not try and load a movie or anything, this happens as soon as I double click the icon to launch the program.

I know you said it works fine for you, what machine is that on?

If I drag other program windows over corrupted screen areas it clears to normal workbench look but also I get a grim reaper at same time as I launch the program.

Any ideas?

I wish it worked the same for me. I've thought if I could only get sound on my SAM460 I might use it instead of my AmigaOne, but installing that thing didn't work on mine. Then I got my hopes up yesterday when it was announced that Update 3 "Improved Sam460ex support including sound driver," but still I get no sound. Could the problem be that I use a video card instead of the onboard sm502_video? That is, does sm502_audio also require the same configuration as the video? I'm assuming that the earphone jack on the front of the machine is a valid test point, although I have tried the harder-to-get-at sound jack on the back as well.

Since update 3 sound works all the time, no longer need to reboot, did you follow the readme and set up AHI prefs as specified?

I have a Radeon HD GFX card fitted but sound is through the onboard sm502, which needs to be selected within AHI prefs as in readme.

I have a monitor with speakers and it is connected via the jack plug at the rear of my SAM460.

Are there any Amiga usergroups near you that maybe you could visit and get some hands on help?

By golly, so it was! And the curiouser thing is, his fix is the one I tried and it didn't work then, but now does. I'm sure I had rebooted; maybe it had to be a complete machine reboot?

I think that one was slightly different from one that was posted previously, the one installed now is the latest I believe!

Hey, me too! Thanks, sicky (and Chris?). OT: I guess Essex is north of the Sussexes?

It was ChrisH in this thread (ANT member and friend) who pointed out where to find the working certificate.

And yes Essex is north of Sussex, Essex is on north bank of Thames and Sussex on South coast, ironically although I live in Essex currently in my caravan in East Sussex (Camber Sands) on a little holiday
