@Raziel

you can always just add the update to the ignore list and never have to see it again.

@djrikki

you have a choice of prism2-based or atheros 5000-based wireless cards. you might find the IB guide to wifi on OS4 useful:

If I were you I'd redirect your DNS entry for "Amiga.org" to a site about fluffy bunnies and kittens, and then you should be safe from most of the partisan zealots. Seriously - don't let them get to you. There's a large number of us who really appreciate the work you've done and continue to do.

indeed. many of us appreciate the work done on the OS tremendously; i enjoy it in its current state and if something advances along the OGL/SMP/libreoffice/timberwolf fronts, then so much the better.

i've also been spending less time on the forums than i used to. i even tried to help make amiga.org a nicer place -- not just for AOS4 users, but everyone. i gave up. so i completely understand rogue's attitude here.

as people have said in the past we depend very heavily on the work of the frieden brothers, as well as the other active OS developers. given the lack of remuneration for so many, it must remain a hobby, and above all enjoyable. if it ceases to be so, not only does the developer suffer, but all those who enjoy and appreciate their work.

if there is anything we can do collectively to make the experience of interacting with the community something nice again, i'm sure we'd be happy to oblige. we're all just trying to enjoy our amigas, so we're all in this together.

Creating a third party solution is one thing - the support for it is another. A new icon system is nothing without a solid baseline of icons. Just for the record: For the next release I have prepared 800 + new icons for all kind of 3rd party programs.

Many nice and interesting ideas where brought up recently, but what I really miss is at least the attempt to think them through until the end and weight the impact on other components of the system at all.

your work is a very big factor in my using AOS4. the icons are gorgeous, consistent, and well-executed. i like the current icon system and would hope any major changes would be thought through very diligently by you and others responsible for the look-and-feel of the OS.

@zzd10h

just downloaded qtweb to test. it's a very nice browser. one of the things, though, that could help its performance would be to build without debug messages enabled. i get (what appear to be harmless) warnings popping up in a console fairly consistently. also perhaps a build without the debug symbols? of course both of these issues are present in the qt stack....

by the way -- i especially enjoyed the screenshot of nagaina included with your upload on os4depot.

@zzd10h

this may well be the most important port from the qt world so far if you're able to pull it off. MUIOWB seems that it will not be updated in my lifetime, nor timberwolf. and while i still use OWB, MUIOWB, and netsurf, i'd be lying if i thought any of them were ideal in their current state.

if qtweb is more compatible and/or faster than our current solutions, it would be a huge boon. thanks for your efforts!

@zzd10h

wonderful! i imagine it's a darn sight more performant than timberwolf on the 460. when can we expect a release?

@thread

out of curiosity: is anyone working on a QT theme that makes the widgets look like native reaction gadgets? native menus work well for me, and performance is reasonable on my peg2. just wish this stuff 'looked' native as well. a minor point, of course, but again, just curious if anyone was working on it.

A-EON has issued a press release on the matter. from their facebook page:

Quote:
Following the news that Varisys, our hardware partners and designers of the Nemo motherboard, had been acquired by Ultra Electronics, we have been in close communication with regards current and ongoing development projects. Adam Barnes, Technical Director commented: "We are looking forward to continuing our relationship with A-EON and the Amiga community. We always hoped to develop IP for embedded applications through the A-EON projects, and that has not changed one bit." Paul Gentle, General Manager added: "Adam and I are staying with the business, and are excited by the future prospects and opportunities that will arise." A-EON Technology Director Matthew Leaman commented, "We wish to congratulate Varisys on their acquisition by Ultra Electronics and look forward to strengthening our close working relationship".

i noticed recently that when i have DU in the background and switch screens back to workbench that there is a DU icon showing in my main amidock. is there any way to turn that feature off? i looked through the included amigaguide files, but didn't find it. apologies in advance if the answer is already in the documentation and i couldn't find it.
