Hello
This is allways the same Sam440 + M9 + 32 bits screen i used with the precedent binary
But now the display is fully trashed = unusable

I will note all the infos you ask + grab a screen tomorrow but right now I dont have the Sam here to make the test again...

The only thing I can say is that : I have the new binary and the old binary in the same drawer and they use the same config/hardfile/rom/screen mode and the old one is working (only) in screen mode but not the new one

The rom and hardfile were coming from my old Mac LcII
http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macintosh_LC_II
I used it for years on ShapeShifter

>SuperTuxKart prove to be slow just originally and should be rewriting/speeduped.

I totally agree with kas1e :
* I maded several tests with the Wazp3D debugger and SuperTuxKart
* I have also investigated the SuperTuxKart sources

===> SuperTuxKart is badly written this is why it is slow

Perhaps the PC drivers (OpenGL) got some special optimizations (like buffering the draw functions, using the GPU for transform & Lighting) or just simply a much much faster GPU
But to the end the PC only COMPENSATE this intrinsic slowness

So please dont use SuperTuxKart as a benchmark for 3D performances on Amiga-like machines
There are fast 3D programs on Amiga ... but not this one...

@kas1e

Hello kas1e

>with duke3dw stack trace even point on function which cause that : SDL_SetGammaRamp

So just disable (commentarize) all that SetGamma stuff in SDL and/or eduke : adjusting gamma in a game is not essential

Perhaps SetGamma stuff is not even implemented in os4 version ? based from what i readed here :

Is there a new binary ? where ?

>What I do not know is what MacOS was doing when it was running MOVE.L, and I do not know what 0x522AC460 is.
Ok I see...

BTW I was asking myself if a problem of this kind may occurs if the Mac start with a resolution (B/W,greyscale or whatsoever...) that the window-mode dont support

I am asking that because on my Sam the full-screen mode start in fact with a "bad" mode (greyscale ?) so the display is trashed then I can switch the Mac's monitor-prefs to millions colors .. then all works fine

>So what graphic card do you use?
On board M9

>What applications and OS are you emulating when it crashed?
Applications: none
Just booting an old hardfile (7.1?) from shapeshifter. The same settings works fine in full-screen mode but just freeze in window & window-compositing modes

>What did you do when it crashed?
It only crash in window-compositing mode when moving a window

>If your using a old update...
I know I know .... but this Sam440 is not online and serve only for compiling/testing my own programs

Re: Basilisk 1.0 beta testing

Not too shy to talk

Hello

Many thanks for your works

Tested too just right now

Sam440ep + M9
==> mainly works

All tests on ARGB32 screens =
1)window: display the dithered mac background (ie boot) forever ...(? or boot toooooo slooooowly for me ?)
2) window composition: ditto + DSI if move the windows
3) screen: works well (ARGB32)

Note:
* Please add a "quit" button (at least until it works well )
* shadow the window size in screen-mode/ shadow the screen ID in window-mode cause it is a few confusing the way it is done now

Add something like this to Readme:

Warning: If using an old hardfile from (say) shapeshifter it may use a video mode that is not supported in this emulator so giving a bad display
Also this old video mode may need a window size that will not fit in current WB screen

Very Nice to have again a Mac on my Amiga )
Well done

Alain Thellier

PS: also i have "WARNING FSM<1.2 found..."

Converting from BW can be done with a lookup table
Same a 8 bits to 32 except the lookup return 8x32bitspixel each time a byte is read

Hello

About Compositing can read that
http://www.amiga-ng.org/sections.php?op=viewarticle&artid=49

So MULTIPLY is
MULTIPLY DstA= SrcA * DstA DstC= SrcC * DstC;
A=Alpha C=Color
But MULTIPLY dont exist in os4-compositing
MULTIPLY exists in Warp3D/MiniGL but they use W3D_texture not bitmap :-/

Can do that to highlight something :
COMPOSITE_Src_Over_Dest with an alpha set to 0.5 or less
will do
DstC= SrcC*0.5+ DstC*0.5;

Alain Thellier - Wazp3D

Edit: if source contain an uniform RGB color a better approximation is A=(R+G+B)/3;

There is also CloneWindow ( on aminet with sources) that may be modified to make a zoom commodity

Hello

You can generate the .xml from a .sfd file = simpler
dont remenber if it is fdtrans or idltool that can do that
Also have a look to Aminet/wazp3d for a library source...

Re: Compiling OS4 sources to target OS3
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

>you'll still need all those interfaces naming
No No you write the same code you did on OS3

It is the us __USE_INLINE__ that do the magic
It works this way in include/inline4/xxx.h:
#define OpenWindow(newWindow) IIntuition->OpenWindow((newWindow))

So you only need to write the os3 way:

OpenWindow(mynewwin);

Simple

Alain

PS: also remenber to declare the interface at the beginning of your code:

/*==================================================================*/
#ifdef OS4
struct Library* NewlibBase =NULL;
struct Interface* INewlib =NULL;

struct ExecIFace* IExec =NULL;
struct DOSIFace* IDOS =NULL;
struct GraphicsIFace* IGraphics =NULL;
struct IntuitionIFace* IIntuition =NULL;
struct CyberGfxIFace* ICyberGfx =NULL;

struct TimerIFace* ITimer =NULL;

Wazp3D Note:

Some OS4 games are very slow even with Wazp3D+Compositing (Mame, Frogatto,etc...)
Those games use W3D_UpdateTexImage() very often: this fonction is very slow on Wazp3D
1) because it is not optimized (too many formats to do...)
2) Because some texture formats are converted 3 times:
MiniGL -> Warp3D -> Compositing

Hello

I never used EUAE but perhaps you can use it at 320x256
then use aminet/clonewindow to scale it to the resolution you want
Clonewindow use hardware compositing
