@daveyw

Also go to the new section (which you may have missed?) in the Settings dialog:

Menu Settings->Settings->Spoofing

- and make sure all the user agents you want to use are enabled.

You don't need actually to go there to get the latest version. You can use the self-update process from the menu. It updates your installation automatically for you.
Yes, I know. But old habits as a tester makes me prefer having the archive for each update stored locally.

Unfortunately, this is the way the online service I am using supports. As soon as they add the ability to search using more filters, I will add them in MediaVault as well.
Ah, I see. No problem, I just wondered why.

@walkero

Still getting nicer all the time - and DLNA next! Yay!

BTW, you wrote above in the 1.5.1 post that it would be available on OS4Depot, but I haven't found it there yet, had to go to Github to get it.

As you did earlier write that only 2nd digit updates (e.g. 1.5.0) would be on OS4Depot, I gather it was a typo in the 1.5.1 post?

Regarding podcasts: Are you planning to make it possible to search for podcasts (on the top level) by language, country etc. like for radio stations? Currently it seems the only search is for the name or part of it - except under "Trending" where you do have a couple of search filters. Seems a bit odd to have them in different places in the two sections, but maybe you have a good reason for that?

Best regards,

Niels

According to the Acknowledgements file in the GfxBench2D archive, it uses libcurl, but apparently not the cURL command, i.e. the cURL functionality is compiled (or rather linked) into the program.

So no need to install or update the cURL command, just make sure the copy of curl-ca-bundle.crt in the progarm dir is fresh, as described by Raziel above.

@Deniil

Nothing wrong here, at least (also on X1000).

I just popped in HunoPPC's Games Bundle DVD, and it loaded fine and showed up on WB. Opening the icon showed contents too.

Perhaps you should try another drive, if you can get your hands on one, it could simply be the laser being worn out, or some other fault in the drive. A cleaning disc could also be worth a try.

Hmm, if I had seen it, you would have had double the number of votes for DLNA .

But yeah, bookmarks/favourites are definitely useful too.

I agree and disagree with you. The AmigaOS way, in my opinion, is not "copy everything on libs, classes etc.". If the specific libs are released only with the specific software, and they are not available for anyone else to use them, nor they have available documentation for developers, then they should be only under the application they come with. Otherwise there are going to be conflicts and unknown situations with the software.
Absolutely.

And if an author is developing libraries solely for his own program to use, they should not only be installed locally with the program, but also have names which are not used by anyone else, e.g. for MyProg you could call a library for frying eggs myprogeggfry.library. That way you'd avoid the problem Andy mentions later above, that a library once loaded will be reused in memory.

Vice versa, if you intend your library for common use and name it generically, it also follows that you install it in LIBS: and take extra care to keep it backwards compatible when developing it further.

My opinion, of course.

And luckily it seems in this case, the libraries were in fact the same and usable from both programs, as later posts state.

@walkero

Preferably, they should all be located only in Libs:, and both programs should be able to use whatever is the latest version.

These are regular Amiga shared libraries, not those dumb .so libs.

Thanks for your fine presentation at AmiWest! Looking forward to the DLNA support .

Question: Are you still going to upload new versions on OS4Depot? It's not mentioned in the above post about 1.4.2.

I see, I thought it might be something like that.

Yes, I'd like to see an improvement in that respect some time in the future when you get a chance.

Maybe you could have one of the options say "Others..." and then show a window with perhaps a list-tree kind of display with either the continents as top layer or the initial letters?

@walkero

Sorry, can't open that page with Odyssey, it just sets up one of those captcha monstrosities which cannot be responded to its satisfaction.

Anyway, I just finally got around to installing and trying the program. Nice work indeed!

I really don't use online radio much, especially not on the Amiga (we do have a separate internet radio box in the kitchen and a tuner in the HiFi stack which can also receive them), but for the rare occasion where I do, it looks like a nice and simple to use tool.

Just one little remark: Why is Denmark not in the country chooser? If I search for Danish language stations, I do get a list with Denmark (and a few with Greenland) as country as expected.

I haven't tried to burn a CD since installing OS4FE update1 on my system and have not yet installed update2 so I don't know yet if the above procedure will work with update2.
I fear you'll find that Update 2 contains a kernel with version number 54, which seems to be the number the author of AmiDVD decided would be too big to support (or whatever).

OTOH, you may find that the new p50x0sata.device in Update 2 has solved the issue with the ever changing CD device names.

Same version of C:Reboot as mine.

You didn't state the version of Notifications you're using? broadblues asked about that a couple of posts ago (and I'm curious too).

I'm using a reboot command (not sure which one) which has a sync command attached to it.
Maybe it's simply the default C:Reboot? It has a SYNC option.

If it is, you could try, instead of the SYNC, to use e.g. WAIT 5.

That should normally give enough time for write operations to finish, so the reset is less likely to cause problems.

Edit: BTW, the SYNC option in C:Reboot does not (as per my understanding) notify any programs or similar, it just inhibits all volumes, so they can't be written to.

Re: Problem with OS4.1FE Soundplayer

@Gregor

Interesting results.

As for the freezes where it looks like LoadWB is stuck, I get those sometimes as well (X1000, both public OS and latest beta version).

So far nobody has succeeded in finding out why they happen (one of those random things which always seems to happen when you're not prepared for gathering evidence, and of course it doesn't produce any debug output or other clues ), but I have a feeling they are unrelated to the other freezes you have been investigating.

Anyway, it will be interesting to see if the new audio card keeps the situation at bay.

Best regards,

Niels
