@Raziel

Yeah, that works fine, but I don't get any debug output. It's quite a strange one! But not too major I guess...

Okay, I've tried upping the stack to 1,000,000 bytes in UAE's icon, and still no joy - still get a crash as soon as it reads the config file. Running from the shell works fine every time...

@Lio

Fair enough, I'll try that when I get home tonight... Just seems strange that the same amount of stack works from the shell, but not from a Workbench icon which launches as Shell...

Thanks for your help guys!

@redfox

Okay, I found the problem - I was emulating a 68000, and was trying to run Kickstart 3.1. I was sure that combination would work, but for some reason it didn't. Now I have it set to 68020/881 and it's booting fine.

Another issue I'm having now is that it runs fine from the shell, but if I run it from the icon it crashes with a DSI followed by an ISI just as it reads the .uaerc file. The stack in the icon is 64k - the same as my shell, and it's set to launch from shell... Any ideas?

@LiveForIt

I have several ROM images here (which are all dumped from Amigas I own by the way), and my .uaerc file has the following entries for the ROM:

amiga.rom.path=Work:Emulation/UAE/E-UAE_0.8.29-WIP4_SDL/Roms
kickstart_rom_file=Work:Emulation/UAE/E-UAE_0.8.29-WIP4_SDL/Roms/kick40.68.rom

That seems to be the way the readme says it should be configured - have I missed something here?

E-UAE Problems
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

Hi all,
I've tried to run E-UAE several times on my A1-XE with OS4.1, and so far have not been able to do it. Basically, it seems to initialise fine, I get a black window and the debug output lists the screenmodes etc. However, after a couple of seconds I get these two lines:

Illegal instruction: 4e7b at 00f80c38 -> 00f80cc0
Illegal instruction: 4c41 at 00fbd99a -> 00f80ad2

followed by a pause (which I think is the emulation restarting), and then I get a reset at f800d0 message. The window refreshes and it just loops like that...

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? I've downloaded the latest version from Richard Drummond's site, reinstalled it, and tried taking a new ROM dump from my A1200, but still no joy. It's a shame, I'd like to run stuff from OS4.1 with Gluae...

Thanks!

@BillE

Hehe, don't worry, I understand your (and many others') frustration - I dodged the bullet on that one through being a student and not having the funds to hand Amiga for the T-shirt/coupon "offer." Thanks all, I'll have a look at some designs shortly and look at the logo. Any ideas on colour? A light colour would be good if the Amiga text logo is there, but I think just the boing ball on black might be nice. In any case, I think I can have a mixture of colours and sizes within one run. Thanks Antique for the logos, I'll have to do some work on the boing balls though, as the embroidery will only be 2 or 3 colours...

I'll keep you all posted anyway!

@broadblues

Yes, the price is pretty high, but I'm not talking about printing - I can get that done pretty cheaply! I also have a number of Amiga t-shirts which are printed. What I'm looking to get done is emproidery on a decent quality polo shirt, and that costs a good bit more. It's around the price we paid for similar shirts for a car forum I'm part of, and that was about the cheapest it got for that sort of a shirt and work.

Looks like I'm not getting the numbers I need so... Oh well, thanks anyway

@BillE

LOL, yes, some shirts can be expensive. That's around the price I paid for a polo shirt with a custom embroidered logo on it before. But then, I'm a fan of t-shirts, have dozens here, and I doubt any of them cost less than ?10-15. We all have our things

Thankfully I didn't get stung by the Amiga t-shirt scam, and I'm not looking to rip people off, or even make a profit out of this. Just looking to share the cost of a production run.

I'll see about doing some mock-ups over the next day or 2...

@shadowsun

LOL, you may keep waiting so I have some printed Amiga t-shirts from a long time ago, but they're not the sort of thing I could wear around the office, and couldn't find any more anywhere on the net so thought we could sort our own out. The rainbow checkmark is out due to the number of colours which would be needed, so the Amiga word with the red square over the i, the boing ball, and the old Amiga font logo are the main ideas I was thinking of...

I'll talk to some suppliers here, it's possible that a run could consist of different styles seeing as the expensive part is setting up the embroidery rig with the logo.

The shirt I have is this: Amazon Clicky and that's the style I was thinking of, maybe in a pale colour. Something that simple anyway...

Amiga T-Shirts?
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

I recently got a nice polo shirt with Tux, the Linux mascot embroidered on the breast, and it actually looks pretty good, so I was wondering about organising a run of similar shirts with one of the Amiga logos on it... What do people think? Minimum orders for these things are around 20-30, and at those numbers you're usually looking at ?30 each (around ?25 for the Brits).

Anyone interested? I think it's a different idea to the usual printed shirts you see with a huge Amiga image printed across them - usually ruling them out for everyday wear...

@A1200

The MAS player was available complete up until fairly recently. I notice now that amigaKit haven't got it on their website any more, but it might be worth asking them if they're gonna stock it again. The MP3@64 is rumoured to work on the Amiga, but I haven't tested it myself, and I don't think there are any very low-end applications for using it like there is with the MAS player.

@328gts

Cool :) Let me know what you think or if you need a hand setting it up. I am working on an updated version for OS4 and high-end OS3 machines with a much nicer GUI, but that's a while away yet...

@A1200

Well, the parallel port itself won't be the hold-up, but the bare 68000 might have trouble converting the MPEG data to the serial format that the MAS chip requires. This will limit the fastest bitrate you can play. At a total guess I'd say you might be able to play 96kbps or even 128kbps on a 68000 with the original MAS software, but the overheads on AmiTunes are far greater - I don't think it will even run on a 68000, and it needs an FPU, so really some kind of accelerator would be best.

The lowest machine I tested it on was an A1200 with an 030 and FPU. Worked fine with 192kbps files :)

AmiTunes 0.5
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

I'm not sure if I posted here about previous versions, but I've just finished the latest version of AmiTunes - my music manager application, and it's finished enough for me to start using it for its intended purpose - running my A1200-based MP3 jukebox. As such, it does have a very minimal GUI and isn't the nicest to use, but I still use it almost every day on my A1, using AmigaAmp instead of the MAS Player it would normally use.

I've uploaded it to mus/play on AmiNet, and you can also download it from my website here:

AmiTunes 0.5

Please let me know what you think... Like I said, I don't think I'll do more on this version. I plan instead to rewrite it with a full, modern GUI and internal decoder for high-end Amigas, but if you have any suggestions or bug fixes, I'd appreciate them!

@Antique

Yeah, that'd be perfect then. Just upload the photos into the /www or /public_html or whatever directory, and they'll instantly appear at the address of your web space. Simple as that. Depending on the server config, you might also be able to browse them by pointing your web browser at the web space address (i.e. not at one of the individual files). Most web servers will list the files in a folder as links if there's no index file...

@Antique

Yes, usually you just need to upload whatever you need with FTP and it will be available to download via HTTP (i.e. using a web browser). Some providers will need you to put the files in a specific folder to get it to work, just read the FAQs or readmes they provide...

Re: Wordworth 7

@Slayer

Well, for me it's not just a printer. I'm using an Epson R1800 which is profiled, calibrated and all that for photography work, and to be honest, there's no other printer in the consumer marked that even comes close. Yes, I could buy another printer just for use with the Amiga, but it would mean having to have two printers... Which is just not practical space-wise, especially for the little use it would get...

@BillE

Oh, don't get me wrong, I sit in work sometimes and think the exact same thing: if I was at home I'd have it done in WW/TVPaint/ARexx by now. It's just let me down now seeing as I can't use the fonts I want to use when I print to a postscript interpreter, and the printer I have now (which is specifically chosen for other things and so can't be changed) isn't supported by any Amiga drivers. There's hardly any point in using it when I have to save it as an RTF and shuttle it across to Word to print anyway...
