Re: OWB (1.17) oddities
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

The good news is that it's really stable now and works pretty good . The bad news is that I can no longer log in on this site; http://www.bostad.stockholm.se/ . Posting this in OWB 1.17 .

Edit: Oh no! I browsed the site http://www.aftonbladet.se/ wich has allways been a problem and suddenly OWB stopped responding again using 100% CPU .

@afxgroup

I just visited http://www.amiga.org/ . You'll receive a save requester right a way and anytime you click on a link on that site.

@Paul

Yes I've noticed that too so it doesn't matter much, however
on another site I used to be able to log in but not any
more. It asks if I want to upload something in a similar
way but I never get logged in.

Also on this site http://www.aftonbladet.se/ . It loads the
first page fine. Then I click on the link to the news about
Patrick Swayze and it stops doing anything and CPU goes up
to 100% . Tried several times with and without javascript.

Could you try and see if the same thing happens to you? OWB
has been more or less unstable with that site since the
first release (I suppose it got lots of bugs though and
should be considered alpha right now).

@Paul

It only seems to work when downloading to RAM: . If I try to download to the harddrive nothing seems to happen. Oh... when I click on "Submit" here it tries to upload "post.php".

@Swoop

I'd like new windows and/or tabs. Not only to keep several pages open but things like deleting e-mails from yahoo doesn't work since it doesn't throw up the window asking if you're sure.

This seems to happen from time to time and when it happens the CPU gets stuck at 100% .

The reason would be that he hasn't had time to add it yet? MPlayer got support for QT, how good I don't know though.

@agafaster

Generaly speaking it's better to stay wired than not. So if you can you should! You'll never get problems if you're wired (unless you cut the cable ) and it'll be full speed. Cheaper and better...

@Rogue

I agree... but still a few selected important software should be there even if they are still 68k. Seing that lots of wb games from aminet works I don't want to see them at os4depot... unless it becomes a place for software that works on os4..

Still... I think that this topic is kinf of silly....... sorry but I do...

I just bought a SanDisk Sansa c250 MP3 player and it doesn't show up in AOS 4 . I have to copy the files through Windows.

Happy birthday! I guess and hope that this site will be around for many years still!

Depressing to see the amount of users using it though ... makes it feel tiny.

@orgin

And those claiming this are who? Really I don't think that an article would help. Face it, those people will clame things like this no matter what. They could show AOS 4 runing with DMA working and they would still write those thing for whatever reason they have to write it.

So I think that they better continue their work and ignore comments like that.

@Raziel

I did just notice that too. And would it be possible to maximize the window like you can do with any window in AOS 4 now? I noticed that resizing didn't work for the whole 1280x1024 resolution that I got. But none the less it's great to finally use themes (yes I've been waiting a long to use this feature).

It's really stable too! Makes me think of the first "alpha" wich was very stable. This is great! This is *the* music player for AOS 4 .

One thing that bothers me though is the volume... it's too low for some songs. Was the "boost" on its way? I still don't get why it's so low in AOS 3/4 since in winblows or linux or whatever it seems to be louther.

EDIT: One thing that's weird... the MP3 that I'm listening too is pretty loud with amigaamp (using its own mp3-plugin, I know) but still... It shouldn't be that low with tunenet... I don't think that mpega.library got anything to do with it, right?

Yes it's amazing... I got this PC with 3GB RAM, AMD Athlon 64 at 2.16 GHz, SATA 1 drived, ATI Radeon 1600... everything blow the A1 XE G4 that I got (also, bus-speed is higher) .... but I run Vista on it and it's horrible! There are slowdowns, not many, but enough. It should just be cancelled. Linux is way better and AOS 4... well it just rocks ...

You and your brother are famous and really, really tallented and known for your work..... I wish that there where loads of you for both writing AOS 4 and writing games. You got the right vision for AOS and en excelent taste when it comes to games. However, I would choose to let you (if I was in charge) develope AOS, because you really are Amigans at heart. I do miss your portings of games though but if someone mess up AOS I would go so it must come first. Games I can play at a console, PC (with Windows) and whatever....
