Expansion.library not part of the system?
Just popping in
Just popping in

Hi,

I am missing the expansion.library from my OS4 setup. Is this added at a later release (OS4.1) since it is also not on my install disc?

It happens with several applications and not just one.

Insert volume CONSOLE: error
Just popping in
Just popping in

Hi,

I am getting the below message often after which the system crashes.

Please insert volume
CONSOLE:
in any drive

At first it seemed it only happens when I was downloading something in both browsers NetSurf and OWB. But now it also pops up when trying to install software or run any software. Anyone knows why? My system is a A1SE with OS4 Pre-release with all the latest updates.

From the previous update.

The update should also work on the limited developer boards such as the AmigaOne-SE and MicroA1-C Mark 2 but these will not be tested.

Surely you can find some testers for this. Right?

I have flex in my SDK:local/c directory (not sure if it came with the SDK or I D/L it from OS4Depot) but have no idea how to use it. I know the YAM sources use flex but I never took a close look at how it's used.

Thanks. I will have a look at my system for it.

http://piumarta.com/software/peg/ is the parser generator that Sidewinder and I were adapting for use with the Mattathias project before we sidelined it. It is written in C and should compile out of the box on OS 4 assuming you have unistd.h . It is much, MUCH easier to use than Lex and YACC and their descendents.

Thanks. I will have a look at that.

Don't we have lex/yacc? I think we do.

However I never got the point of a parser generator. Used lex/yacc in some university course once. STill don't get the point. I found writing the parser language the parser generator need and then try to understand and make use of the mess it outputs to be just as difficult as simply writing your own parser.

You and Chris made me think about looking into writing my own parser.

I personally recommend writing a parser manually - it's not that hard, and you get full control of it (rather than being forced to follow some complex & inflexible conventions that may not easily do what you want).

PortablE comes with the example "ToyInterpreter.e" program. Jack Crenshaw's (sp?) famous guide "Let's write a compiler" (or something like that) is a great introduction too, but he uses Pascal.

Hmmm interesting. Like you said, full control.

There a port of Bison about I think (or was it Yacc?). Only ever used it for ports (perl etc) though. Never used it from scratch.

I think that is the one I spotted on Aminet.

Hi all,

Does anyone here have some experience with a parser generator for OS4? I am looking for one I can use.

ListBrowser gadget question

Hi all,

I got that far with displaying a column in my program but I get stuck with displaying something in there. I know I need to setup a node but that is the point I get stuck. I know I need to use AllocListBrowserNode and I was hoping someone had a simple example for me. I checked all the available examples out there but I can't seem to figure it out.

I appreciate any help in this matter.

Cheers,

@ssolie

That might indeed be a good solution. Depending on the price of a card of course.

@Hans

It also seems none of the parallel software tools will work on a PC with XP up. I might try a network card solution if I can get one for a decent price.
