@rebraist

Yes I am an OS4 Beta-tester...

About official announcement, you should wait for ACube and Hyperion...

I guess Since Relec.ch announced the new complete system, it is close...

@Rigo

Revisiting this thread..

For the Workbench lock utility I am working on, I have read the commodities section DevCD but I couldn't understand well as a beginner

How can I limit key and mouse input for a specific window using this CX commands ?

I wish there was some commodity example that can be compiled for OS4 SDK.

Thanks

Help for Workbench lock utility

Hello

I am trying to write a simple utility that will lock the system with a password.

Currently utility opens a new windows and asks for the right password to quit.

However to make it usable;

Is it possible to disable mouse / keyboard input when the my password entering windows is inactive ?

How can I stop users working on other windows or screen other than the password entering window ?

Any ideas ?

Thanks.

Re: Are you a MICROA1 Owner?

@all

Since last week I have an annonying problem with my MicroA1.
When I turn on the machine it refuses to boot... I dissambled and re-assembled A1 and its components..
While doing this I noticed that, if I take out the clock battery and leave mA1 for some minutes, it is able to boot again..

I tried changing clock battery at least 3 times with fresh batteries. But let's say if I leave mA1 off for a night or a day,
I have to do the this reset thing to make it work..

What could be the problem ? Faulty uboot chip ? Should I re-flash Uboot or look for a replacement ?

Anyone faced this problem ?

@Mikey_C

I am an owner of a MicroA1 too. While CPU is good enough to run many OS4.1 applications with 512MB ram, (For example (Afxgroup's Homeworld and Freespace 2 ports are running very well with 32MB VRAM), but modern stuff like Aquaria runs at 2-3 fps with R7000). Yes R7000 and 32MB VRam is becoming limited everyday.

However I am not sure if a PCI Riser card and a bounty will make sense.

Perhaps selling MicroA1s and investing to SAM460 and X1000 will be very a better choice for us and for the tiny Amiga market...

@MickJT

I tried Lugaru second binary on my G3-800Mhz MicroA1 (512MB with Radeon7000) with the data files you supplied. Running on OS4.1 Update2

Started game with default settings (640x480-medium detail) fps speed is like 2-3 fps and whole system freezes after playing for some seconds.

Then I lowered gfx settings and tried to start the tutorial level but it froze the whole system..

@afxgroup

It may sound stupid, but I think all ported games should be released to public although it is slow on current hardware.

I think it is the only way to improve the drivers and change people's will to upgrade their Amiga systems.

Anyway these ports are very good start after long silence.

In May I was able to test 2 new ported games (Homeworld and Freespace2) on my MicroA1. With MickJT and your ports it will be 4 new games in 1 month which is a good thing :)

@afxgroup

Even for X1000 ?

I am aware that Sam, A1 even Peg-II is too slow for 3d racing games..

But let's hope somebody ports them when X1000 is available.

@kas1e

I have just tried Lodepaint on my MicroA1 - running OS4.1 Update2.

Besides crashing on exit, when I run Lodepaint my Workbench screens begins to flicker, sometimes some graphic corruptions occurs. As soon as I quit Lodepaint flickering is gone...

Also Lodepaint froze the whole system when I tried to load a PNG image for editing...

But anyway it is a nice step for a good Paint program :)

CommodoreUSA announced that they will release a C64 style PC in June 2010.

http://www.commodoreusa.net/tech.html

According to site, it will be also sold as a barebones version. I wonder if SamFlex will fit in this case ?.
It would make a perfect A500 style OS4.1 capable machine..

@Helgis

At OSNews.com I read that YouTube is planning to use HTML5 video instead of Adobe flash.

http://www.osnews.com/story/22744/Goo ... _Video_Version_of_YouTube

HTML5 video is supported by Firefox and Safari, it will be probably supported by Timberwolf...

So if HTML5 support becomes a reality for YouTube, that will be really good for us :)
