Re: Animated Gifs

@Snuffy

Try dragging the anim.docky onto an existing amidock set of icon images; then drag your animated gif file onto the anim.docky.

If this does not work for you, then I'm out of ideas.

Try SYS:Utilities/Dockies/Anim.docky

@ikir

Download the newest OWBAddressBook (v. 3.2) from OS4 Depot. It does not use reqtools anymore.

This version also seems to be pretty unstable here, I get DSI's on a lot of webpages now. Can 2.15 still be downloaded from somewhere? I missed that one, but it'd be good if I could test whether it's more stable here.

Version 2.15 was MUCH more stable (I was never able to crash it). I would be nice if Joerg could re-upload that one to his OWB site.

Is there anyway we could launch the program through clicking an image in the toolbar.

I agree that it would be nice to have a button on at the top (perhaps just to the left of the search image) to launch the address book; but this is something that J?rg would have to implement.

@Paul

Actually, if you use the default setting, and if you use the address book included in the OWB archive (not the old one on OS4 Depot), everything should work fine; but you need to launch the address book from OWB itself (not through the AddressBook icon)---using either the menu option or Amiga+B.

@Ami603

I tried it, and it does work well. Thanks!

Thank you also for including the source code. I did change one thing:
Line 57
IDOS->SystemTags("wbrun OWB",

(Just having "OWB" gave me shell output that I didn't like.)

@bean

Since you've been "out of the loop," you may not have seen this:
http://os4depot.net/index.php?functio ... emo/misc/winalphatest.lha

So if you can figure out how to implement it, you should be able to use .png files with alpha-channel blending for some really nice looking skins.

How about a "News" AISS image or image set?

Thanks.

@Rogue

I'm not sure if this even qualifies as a UBoot bug, but I can't even view the UBoot options if I have a graphics card plugged into the PCI slot of my ?A1.

I know that this is an old problem that you already know about, but I'm just mentioning it again so that it is not forgotten.

@Chris

I'm pretty sure that the reason a glow effect is not included is that the images would require quite a bit more pixel space around the edges without looking any bigger if the glow is going to have a smooth fade.

(Edit: Mason was faster on the submit button.)

Looking for Photogenics 5.0
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

I've got Photogenics 4.1 and it works well in OS 4.1, but I was wondering about Photogenics 5.0:

1) Does anyone know where I can upgrade from Photogenics 4.1 to 5.0?
2) Does anyone know how Photogenics 5.0 works with OS 4.1?

Thanks.

@Snuffy

OT about PictureWidget:
I'm not sure what is going wrong there. It works fine here (using 4.1 though).

Another OT comment (though related to the PictureWidget question):
I'm sorry to report that I've lost all of the source code from my Hollwood software due to mechanical failure with my hard drive; so I can't improve or change anything in any of the programs that I've made so far without coding everything again from scratch (which I can't see myself doing right now).

So, does anyone know how this can be done with OS4.1?

Or is there any way that I can format an external hard drive in a way that will at least cause the drive to be recognized on XP or Vista so that I can then format it with FAT32 through one of them?

Thanks.

Idiot's Guide for Samba Configuration
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

I am currently rebuilding my system after a major hard drive failure (in which I lost everything). So I need to re-configure Samba to work between my ?A1 and my wife's computer. I remember being unable to do this before without the help of Mikey_C's "idiot's guide." But apparently it is no longer available through its old location. Does anyone have a copy of these instructions that can be posted somewhere else (like on amigans.net) or that can be e-mailed to me directly?

Thanks,

CloseAllDrawers.rexx with OS 4.1
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

First of all, thank you to Hyperion and all of the developers who brought us 4.1! (It's a really nice update.)

For some reason, since upgrading to 4.1, the ARexx script CloseAllDrawers.rexx does not work any more.

Its a short script, and I'm not sure where the problem is. This is all there is to it.

options results

address WORKBENCH

GETATTR WINDOWS STEM WINDOW

do i = 0 to WINDOW.count-1
IF WINDOW.i ~= "root" THEN
WINDOW '"'||WINDOW.i||'"' CLOSE
END

Any ideas?

@orgin

Maybe a requester can be brought up at the time of installation for the OS with a download/install-script for AISS. That way it could, to a certain extent anyway, be part of the recommended default settings for Amiga OS.

@joerg

Posting this from 2.8 (with little 4.1s falling from the sky)...

I noticed that the AddressBar does not update itself when either the Back or Forward buttons are pressed (it does update with the Reload button, though). Also, if you iconify and then restore the window, the AddressBar is blank.

I know these are really minor things (that shows how good OWB is overall).

The only things that I really miss right now are the ARexx port, and the ability to download. Is Andreas going to handle this again, or is he busy with other things?

Oh, I almost forgot: Thanks Joerg for the update!
