feature of the PS2 port?
Just popping in
Just popping in

Why the mouse handling is stop after the ps2 mouse is replugged?

Is it a hw feature or the OS cannot handle?

Not a big problem, but it is not an "Amiga" like method when I have to restart the system after cable rearrangment.

The machine is a micro A1-C.

Bye!

the original author?

Certainly I mentioned the original author, LDChen.

I don't know what Amidog is doing at this time, but I hope he will tell us here

@poweramiga

Here is a thread that discussed this problem before:

Discussion on AW

This is what Amidog said about that:

"However, the main reason for slow performance is due to some games constantly updating their textures. I tried to fix this by only uploading the modified parts of the textures, but as it turned out, the W3D fuction to update a part of a texture actually always makes a full update. Maybe I could work around that by directly poking in the texture in VRAM (and handle all colorspace conversion myself), something I haven't tried yet."

Hi Xeron!

I made some test with an old stuff: SceneGenerator.
Looks like blitzen has a great effect of the preview render function, but not perfect at all.
Mail me privately if you want to test this program on your own.

Here is some shots that discribes your achievments and the fault.

This is an uae screenshot:

Here is how it looks like without blitzen:

And here is taken after running blitzen:

You should not take the free memory figure too serious. The new memory system uses a lot of caching, so free memory might not be reported using normal mean (i.e. AvailMem()).

Hail for the new memory system!

How does the ADDCHIPRAM parameter of setpatch affects the largest available memory? Is it fragmenting the memory to chip and other memory or just a hack for compatibility?

Bye and thanks for the info!

But until that time drink a toast of Rachy!

Optimizing OS final install
Just popping in
Just popping in

Hi!

I am surprised how much memory is used after booting OS4 final on my micro A1.
There is certainly some commodities in the wbstartup, so it should be normal, but 182 megs free from the installed 256 is surprised me compared to my classic Amiga experiences.

You can gain 3 more free megs if you disable some of the kickstart modules in sys:kickstart/kicklayout.

Just put a ; before each of the following lines:

MODULE Kickstart/a1floppy.device.kmod
MODULE Kickstart/sii0680ide.device.kmod
MODULE Kickstart/sii3112ide.device.kmod
MODULE Kickstart/sii3114ide.device.kmod
MODULE Kickstart/sii3512ide.device.kmod

AFAIK the sii#? modules are for sata ide controllers, and a1floppy.device is for on-board floppy controller which is not included in the micro A1.

Please reply to this topic if you have another useful hints to optimizing OS4 install.

Bye!

I have no problem with YAM 2.4. I simply copied in the three classes from an old installation and it worked.

The three classes (six files) you must install are:

TextEditor.mcc/mcp Vers 15.19 [OS4/PPC] (12/11/2006)
BetterString.mcc/mcp Vers 11.7 [OS4/PPC] ( 9/07/2005)
ToolBar.mcc/mcp Vers 15.12 [OS4/PPC] ( 1/08/2005)

All six files have to go into Sys:MUI/Libs/mui/ (NOT into Sys:Libs/MUI/)

I am using the latest beta 2.5. and it is e.g. does'n use Toolbar.mcc anymore.

I have just tested V2.3 from my old A1200 backup and it works.

Hi!

Another serious problem on my system is that texteditor.mcc is not working.
Mui prefs said: "Failed to create edit class"

It is the latest OS4 version from sourceforge.net

5.Workbench:> version mui:Libs/mui/TextEditor.mcc
TextEditor.mcc 15.19
5.Workbench:> version mui:Libs/mui/TextEditor.mcp
TextEditor.mcp 15.19
5.Workbench:>

Is there anybody here who has no problem with YAM on OS4 final?

Hmm, seems that those 5bit screens are white, so i have set
the MultiView screen to use 32bit and "always" in prefs/screens
and now it displays the colors right.

Ok. But this is a workaround.

"Support for legacy programs requiring a planar screen: normal, HAM6 and HAM8 planar screens are promoted to RTG"

According to the above I think Multiview opens on a planar screen that is not behave as expected.

Anyway thanks for the hint!

Please look on the Preview button at sys:Mui/Mui!
It displays a 5 plane screengrab but the colors are broken.

- The video is changing to black in DVPlayer when dragging the screen.
Maybe an overlay issue?

- AmiPDF still hurts if zooming too much. (out of memory error)

Re: AmigaOS4 support

Hi!

I found that some of the shell commands does not
follow the same style guide.

10.work:>sort ?
sort: open failed: ?: No such file or directory

However this way working:

10.Work:Web/www.tekalasz.hu/Data> sort --help
Usage: sort [OPTION]...

The same happens with dir.

EDIT:

I did not know about sdk:local/c is in the path and it has
some file with the same name as c: which works other way.

Sorry for the incompetence.

Re: AmigaOS4 support

I am thinking about the Trashcan concept...
It seems that not allowed to drag&drop items from other volumes.
To be really useful, it maybe a good place for trashcan on the
backdrop window.
However as I can see, 'leave out' is not work for it.
It is ghosted in the wb menu.

If the above is fit in the concept, then the contextmenu should ghost leave out for trashcans.

Hi!

Another small perception:

Start calculator from a command line
and iconify.

The icon image of the iconifyed Calculator is
the default tool icon instead of the program's icon.
