Ok, Chris, here's an idea:

Could you make it work with this:

http://aminet.net/util/misc/iGame.lha

It's a brilliant front end for whdload games, it's just that it calls them in a fashion that runinuae can't properly capture yet. Is it possible to make it work? That'd be the ultimate in ease of use for e-uae+whdload games!

Cheers!

@ChrisH

I used Amiga Forever, clean wb installation, E-UAE 8.29 SDL WIP4, latest runinuae (r6). I don't think AOS 3.1 ignores the "e" flag, not sure about executables tbh, but I'm almost sure it doesn't ignore it on project files/scripts.

problem solved!

uae_rcli had the "e" flag disabled. Now works fine, thx! :)

@ChrisH

I have a problem with whdload games. You see, I've only tried adfs so far, but since my whd collection is far more complete I thought I'd try that. So, after I double click a whdload game, workbench is fired up and then a requester appears with a , so-to-speak , timeout error from runinuae. I've tried to increase the timeout time to 60 secs, the runincli command is both in user-startup of os3.1 and the file itself is in the c: dir. Actually workbench 3.1 is booted after only a couple of seconds, it just doesn't go on to run the game. If I run it from within the emulation though (open the folder and double click the icon through the emulated 3.1 workbench) it works. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Thx!

@samo79

I agree with your ideas they sound usefull.

@orgin

Is there a chance that filer can remember for certain dirs and have opened in auto-thumbnail mode? I mean, I usually don't need thumbs and thus it's faster/easier to have them turned off, but still I have a couple of dirs where I store my photos and there I better have thumbs enabled. If it's too much work, let it be, doesn't worth the effort, not too important. It could be partially solved though with samo79's idea above to have a cycle gadget that changes the lister view on the fly.

Again thanks for your great work, I rarely fire up dopus4 anymore :)

Re: Importing Bookmarks into OWB/TimberWolf?

@walkero

One thing I think is very important and probably is in your to-do list already, is that it should not be assigned to the tab which opened the bookmark window, but rather to any active tab at the time. That'd eliminate the pointless open/close of the bookmarks. Another nice thing it'd be if it could be sorted alphabetically. Especially the first request, if it's not too much work, maybe you could add it to the next version of OWB when it's released, not waiting for the other great stuff you're preparing to be implemented first.

after several tests, I've found some cases that tunenet with the new mp3cast repeats the final part of a song like it's in an infinite loop. Dunno how I could help you better with this, I could even email you one of those mp3s to take a look if you wish. Let me know.

I've got this problem that is probably stupid, but plz let me know what I'm doing wrong. When I run e-uae in a windows, I simply press ESC and it exits. That doesn't work on full screen. How do I quit e-uae while in full screen? Thx!

@bean

Sounds great! Now I can listen to Powerslave as ripped from the reissued cd properly! (as they had the brilliant idea to put the song's intro at the end of the previous track instead of the beginning of the track it belongs....sigh!)

May I request a few things?

1. Right now when *tunenet -play* is invoked from CLI and tunenet is already running, if no song is selected in the playlist, nothing is played. Maybe you could tweak it so it plays the first entry in the playlist instead. That's be useful to me as I've configured a button to start tunenet and another for play/pause. So, if you'd tweak it that way I won't have to select something in the playlist, I'll have total control from the keyboard from the get go. If there's another way around though I'd be happy to know! :)

2. Are you planning of adding any DSP effects? Basic ones, bass, treble, stereo widening would be nice. I have to say I especially miss the stereo widening effect from songplayer.

3. Is there a way to snapshot where Tunenet's icon goes while iconified?

4. And last, but not least, but certainly most unlikely to happen, is there any chance you add support for mp3pro? I've seen there's a relevant plugin for mplayer on linux that is also open-source afaik. Would that help at all?

Sorry for taking advantage of this post to ask for those things.

Keep up the great work! :)

I think the reason many HD installed games don't run is because they're launched by scripts with project icons and RunInUAE seems to not support these yet. But I could be wrong.

@orgin

Thx for the update! The context menu can indeed be the one the workbench uses, it's good enough as it is. What I'd like to suggest though is if Filer may cooperate better with workbench for cut/copy n paste. For example if I copy a drawer from a workbench window it should be pasted into a filer lister and vice versa. Drag from a wb window and drop to a filer lister (and the opposite as well) too.

EDIT: another suggestion

Right now I have custom buttons to create LHA, ZIP, LZX etc archives. Would it be possible to have buttons that open popup menus instead? For example one button labeled "Create" and when pressed a menu opens with "LHA archive", "LZX archive" , "ZIP archive".
That'd help reduce the clutter on filer's button area. What do you think, is it possible?

I have to say, I second kas1e's thoughts. I too hope for xad integration. Filer is great though, I rarely ever use dopus4 anymore as I've put the CX in startup and open lister with doubleclick on workbench. Very nice :)

Since it can be disabled/enabled per application (the notification system) I can't see how it can cause unwanted trouble. I for one enjoy how tunenet uses ringhio to inform me of the currently played song. And yes, with compositing on, it looks very nice.

@kas1e

well, it's just that I have many external usb disks and without usb 2 support, their transfers are about 1/10th - 1/20th of what they would be. As I have a large collection of videos and music on those disks, streaming off them is also jerky sometimes without usb 2 speeds. Icon scaling and highlighting on mouseover are important as well, but as they were already mentioned I focused on other matters. I had to manually resize quite a few icons to look ok on the amidock while scaling would've solved this automagically!
