Re: Filer 53.32, final release

@broadblues

is there a way to make Filer open an ASL requester and change to the selected DIR.

Using Filers internal commands i'm trying the following with a new "User defined button" but it does not work:

$CD {Rf}

I would need this to CD to a directory by simply dragging a file or directory from workbench.
What I miss in Filer is a way to add a "Favorites" Devices/Dirs which can be modified on the fly.

When doing heavy File managing operations it's a needed option at least for me.

At the moment I do "leave out" drawers on the workbench to quickly access them and it's cumbersome..

e.g.
User Button "Go to.." COMMAND "Work:Tools/Fller/Flier "{Rf}"

Locale is complicated, but only because life is complicated (in this case life with multiple languages and alphabets supported in the same OS).

Would Unicode (UTF-8 or UTF-16) improve the situation? Can someone explain in layman terms if and why it would be difficult to make the whole OS use Unicode?

thanks!

@Nuder_Try

I'd go for a QNAP device. www.qnap.com
Even the latest 4.03 "firmware" works on RA-OWB but only sometimes in NetSurf.
On Odyssey it works too.
There are plenty of options SMS, FTP, SSL...

@bradblues
@mason

I fully agree with you and Mason.

regarding the overlapping of icons, it is a pity we don't have a visual feedback when draggin and dropping yet.
If such a mechanism could be integrated, it would solve the problem I think.
Folders and AppIcons could maintain the boundary they have, which would cause the file icons to be moved to/copied to/used by the underling icon, while file icons could just be piled one on top of another.

btw, I think the "ugly" effect samo79 describes is because of the border you can set in Workbench-Prefs. Infact with the icon borders enabled it does not look ugly but kind of overlapped.

And btw, Thank you Mason for your beautiful artwork, your icons-sets are something I would not like to miss in AmigaOS at all!

the version on your Sam460 seems to be the latest public release.

Newer version will surely be published on a-cubes web site:

http://www.acube-systems.biz/index.php?page=hardware&pid=5

And scroll all the way to the bottom to the "Downloads" section

IMHO, there could Ideally be some area one could set in the Workbench-Prefs application where all the "iconified icons" are going to be placed to..

In my humble opinion os4depot should host at least the very first version which updates through AmiUpdate!

This humble opinion of mine applies to every free/shareware software still being actively developed for CG-Amigas (current generation).

isn't the password meant to prevent exactly what's being discussed here? if the author does not want someone else to upload a file he defines a PW.
BTW, AmigaAmp 3.5 had a bug too, and when the author releases 3.8 and gives permission, kas1e can upload the new version and everybody is happy :)

edit: it's really shooting sparrows with guns here. Why would an author who spreads his software for free not want this to be spread further?

and please, what fuss are we making here? Os4depot was meant to be a central repository for software for "amiga NG". We are the same family here.. we spread things among us, or tiny community! Really, is it springtime testosterones !? :-O

after the latest update of dos.library 53.126 DiskDaisy v1.2 does not draw a pie chart anymore.

if I revert to a prior version of the OS with dos.library version 53.112 it works. Can somebody confirm this?
Is rachy still around and willing to make it work again?

A donation will follow soon after of course..
