Re: Lack of progress

look, my AmigaOne is more than 10 years old and was nearly dead recently until a fellow Amigan gave life back to her (thx Crisot !).

there is no way I am gonna buy an X-1000 or any of the followers if the OS is not complete.
I was an "earlybird" for the AmigaOne so I know how it feels to have everything in alpha/beta stage and have to rely on Linux (Debian) to wait until a stable system is available.
I will not invest my money until something real and bulletproof comes.

I am and remain a loyal AmigaOS4 user (even bought recently the classic version for my A1200PPC to support the cause) but waiting several years and still for something announced as on test or in final stage will one day make me switch to another side/system !

thanks but my point was : we all have AOS4 and what came with it so a collection of filetypes matching whats in a default/basic AOS4 install would already be of great help !

for instance pdf : I was surprised there was no filetype for it, where AmiPDF is part of AOS4.

well it is not so important, it is just lazyness to recreate everything !

or you do like I do : hide the partitions/devices you want to hide behind Amidock docks (of course you dont set the background pattern to 100% transparent !) !

or use the lib from Huno http://www.clubevolution4.com/HunoPortSDL/index1.php

Library HJW 2.0.0 "All Systems"
static library to quickly and easily add support for the joystick in a source code of a game based on the library "Simple DirectMedia Layer". This one includes a simple configuration to adapt to all beginners or experts, supports HAT'S / AXIS and all the buttons

Re: POLL: What graphics card(s) do you currently use on AmigaOS 4.x?

voted radeon 8xxx-9xxx because it is the one in my amigaone right now but initially was radeon 7500, still lying around in case my radeon 9000 pro got fedup ! I had to replace the 7500 because it "only" has 64Mo whereas the 9000 pro has 128Mo and for composition wb mode, it is a minimum...

Even if you get it working, you will have to compromise : DMA, USB...

I would like to keep my A1XEG4 running too as long as possible but one day, I know I will have to switch to SAM460 (or another Amiga-NG capable machine) !

My AmigaOne is more than 10 years old as my main system, not bad investment after all !

here are some answers from Hans on his website :
A Quick Summary
If your Amiga has a PCIe slot, then it is recommended to choose a mid to high-end Radeon HD 5000+ series card
When choosing a card for the Sam 460ex, be mindful that the PCI slot is right next to the 4x PCIe slot. Choose a card that takes up only a single slot, and does not have an oversized heat-sync/fan that would block use of the PCI adjacent slot
A1-XE motherboards with the DMA fix and uA1 motherboards require disabling DMA for the IDE drives and USB in order to use any PCI graphics card (in the 33 MHz slot)
Radeon HD cards (and Radeon X1000 cards) do not work in the Pegasos-II
These graphics do not work in Classic Amigas
The drivers will eventually be able to use the full amount of VRAM that these cards have
The ultimate choice in card is up to you. Whatever you choose, enjoy

graphic driver supporting RANDR version 1.3 or VidMode ?
Quite a regular
Quite a regular

I dont know if you heard about but blue light coming from any source (TV, monitor, LED) is preventing you from sleeping.

in the linux they have xflux and redshift to change the temperature of the color of the monitor at night to protect you.
redshift is open source but needs the "Your graphics driver and X server needs to either support at least RANDR version 1.3 or the VidMode extension."

I am not sure whether the xserver is a must, thats is why I ask about the other extension.

so do we have it or not ?

thx
Lio

it happens only when I am opening a file.
maybe snoopy can show more info but is setup incorrectly ??

here are the main options :
disable WB events
disable envarc events
disable DOS server events
and not all DOS and Exec functions are enabled

EDIT: apparently the author Jörg Rebenstorf is on facebook so someone with a facebook account might ask him for the source code (I dont have an account sorry)
