Radeon 9259 PCI - Radeon HD 6450 comparison - Sam440
Just popping in
Just popping in

We have uploaded a video with a comparison of a Radeon 9250 PCI and a Radeon HD 6450 (PCI-E to PCI Bridge).

This test Shows a Little game Scene of a game which is currently in development.

Video:
]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUg-6I9cizo

Screenshot of the game:
Resized Image

This test is to show what performance boost can bring a Radeon HD card on a Sam440 with PCI bus. A Radeon HD card can increase the performance extreme and is prepared for the upcoming Warp3D drivers and Gallium3D in future.

We have also tested it on a Radeon 5450 PCI Edition and it works also very good (Club 3D PCI Edition), the Card has the same PCI-E to PCI chip.

The Performance boost with compositing stuff is very, very good.

Our Tests (Workbench 1920x1080):
Radeon 9250, PCI:
Windows Mode: at Start: 22 Fps, at End: 39 Fps
Fullscreen: 1920x1080: at Start: 1 Fps, at Ende 14 FpS

Radeon HD 6450 PCI-E (PCI Express to PCI Bridge):
Window Mode: at Start: 74 Fps, at End: 96 Fps
Fullscreen: 1920x1080: at Start: 31 Fps, at End 50 FpS

Note: if the video is not very smooth, then it is a Problem of our recording. In Original it is smooth at least if vSync is activated.

We also want to release this test Scene as soon as possible to test it on your Systems (just make the Scene a Little bit longer).

P.S. We have released Balance Blox now, it is available here:
http://www.amiboing.de/gameDetail.php?id=14

If you want to Support us, try and buy one of our games.

Best regards and thanks for watching the video!!!

I see it the same way how Tommysammy. The 100% CPU usage can´t be fixed just with a Hardware accelleration. On our Sam440 it is very slow, but if we wait if the cpu usage Drops down from 100% (if you do nothing 10-20 seconds...) then click on a link for open another Website it is fast for a short time (till the cpu usage is 100% again), so in my opinion, if this Problem is solved it could be usable also without hardwareacceleration (perhaps fast enough till releasing it).

Hardware acceleration is very important and the only right way to boost timberwolf but perhaps there is another thing to make it usable...

@Rogue: thanks for all your work and hope that thomas get´s well soon.
Including compositing in OS4x is one of the greatest things, why it is not possible to use it in timberwolf instead/before Gallium3D (timberwolf uses shader or something compositing don´t make?)?.

Our games works well with compositing up to FullHD, yesterday we have put a 6450 with a PCI to PCI-E Bridge in the Sam440/733 and it flies with our games... Now also the Sam is ready for FullHD and 8 Layers of Parallax scolling ;)

THANK YOU! Testing now.

Edit: It works here on Sam440@733 not very fast. The next big step is done, hope now for including hardware accellerated rendering.

For all who don´t read the "ReadMe": Read it ;) First Time it crashes, after reading the text end clearing the font cache it works.

friedens: Thank you and go ahead for speed. Timberwolf is the key for OS4.1.

I know the developer of this site from a german forum, i think it is no problem to reset the password. I think, that the password thing is good, if you change a configuration or add/remove a own entry. A Map where every body can insert hardware without this, can´t be good for getting a valid number of users...

I have seen other lists, but i think this here is better (private opinion, would look at other too if i have links)

Hi,
from developers side, it would be nice to know how much x1000 users are there.

I think it would be nice if you place an entry at amigamap.com. currently there are 16 x1000 but i think most entries are made before the first contact hardware arrives (beta testers? ).

Same sign please from Sam460 users.

Here the link to the Database: http://amigamap.com/

Why i want to know how much users are out there?
We make games that use full features of OS4.x, we have good performance on Sam440 and AmigaOnes, but i think with X1000 and Sam460 Hardware we get PCI-E, Faster Ram and faster CPU so there are great possibilities to make better games.

We can play our swamp defense in FullHD on our AmigaOne in 60fps, so what can be done with better hardware (i am looking forward to games with many parallax layers).

@djrikki:

Hi,
I have received your email and answered instantly. After no response i sent you two more emails, also from my private adress and today a pm on amigaworld.

Perhaps you have a problem with your spam filter or a false email adress saved at amiboing?

I have unlocked your account right after your email manually, login should work. Please try it and look on your profile for the right email.

Thanks for a short reply if it works.

@Daniel

www.entwickler-x.de is just our developer page. You can download the theme at www.amiboing.de under "WB Themes". there you also can get some screenshots including background images (also downloadable there ->WB Backdrops).

@kas1e

same here. I also hope that it is a native port and not based on AmiCygnix.
It also seems a lot of work porting this (a year or more).

What says a "one day = one game" port master like kas1e to this timeline :) ?

@MichaelMerkel

stop stop :) the screen ist a test from me, not OS 4.1.1, my idea was a Message System global for all Programms with one place to display.... my idea was long long before the feature list of 4.1.1 was released :)

... But if you look through the autodocs in SDK you see 4.1 is prepared for this message system yet, the way is done for a long time.

i hope we can customize the info-panel a little bit in os4.1.1.
