No, the settings are saved as tooltypes in the icon

Simon

After saw your reply again checked the protection flags and the tooltypes. Then tried to save the prefs and magically it worked!

Cannot reproduce the original problem...

Make sure the icon is Write AND Delete enabled. some programs overwrite an icon others delete a write a new icon.

It is already writeable, deleteable...
... but I thought the prefs should be saved to env: and env-archive:

Re: Guru vs. Grim Reaper

@LiveForIt

Ok. So that was a silly question. :)
Thanks for the answare.
I have just replaced sys:system/GrimReaper with notepad and it is started beside the GR gui.

That was a simple and Amiga like solution.
Thanks again.

Ahh! It is even possible to send a message over the network when a program crashing. How brilliant....

Guru vs. Grim Reaper
Just popping in
Just popping in

The current grim reaper offers a very good facility to debug errors or handle software faults in contrast of the classic Guru Meditation requester.

However there is some applications which should benefit one of the features of the classic Guru.
Just to mention only one such application is the kiosks, or info teminals.
I am sure everyone has seen the blue screens of died windows systems at public premises before. I don' care that how badly is configured those systems, but more interesting for me is that how OS4 can solve that problem.

Is there a way currently that can disable the GR gui and just restart the os, or what do you think of a feature like that?

Hi!

In my OS4 final system I am not able to save the settings of the commodity Fkey.

Hitting the save button it said that "Unable to open file 'fkey'".

Please somebody confirm that is it a bug or bad installation?

Thanks in advance.

As far as I remember correctly the original EOB is runs on OS4. ('Planar screens on RTG' feature)
...

Ok. I have just tried it... EOB II. Original ECS release. Runs flawlessly with sound. It is a system friendly game.

Please test the following to make me sure that it is a bug in OS4 final.

- Open Prefs/PrinterPS
- Set Paperformat to custom
- Place the text cursor to the Paper width gadget
- Press TAB

It is freezing on my config. No GR, only the pointer is freeze.

It would help if hollywood's multimedia core was separated into a library rather than embedded into every compiled executable. I'd also like to see a C interface so that normal applications can make use of all the stuf Hollywood has to offer.

Hans

A 'player' is planned and therefore even the current version of the compiler/linker can make hollywood aplets.
I have just made a little test with the following results:

test_app compiled for OS4 944180 bytes
test_app platform independent applet 8764 bytes

The player will solve the problem of the application size, but not the memory footprint.

Don't forget that Hollywood is a multimedia authoring tool above all.

Hi!

Amaya is crashing if it has to show a gif image.
Does it makes it only for me?

Please try it on e.g. www.google.com or on my site: www.kezdobetu.hu

Thanks!

Edit: Certainly a clean install of the latest Cygnix release.

Had a look at the sources, but I couldn't find a GTK GUI, only a X11 GUI. It's version 20061220 downloaded at sourceforge.
Or is it the wrong program?

No. That is what I mentioned.

AFAIK it is only X11. The windows binary is running on cygwin too.

AmiGS is failing to print a document in pdf if the enable antialiasing gadget is set.

At the end there is a line -> Last OS error: Function not implemented

Is that means that the OS lacks some feature that GS needs?

Here is the ghostscript output:

Gaim needs GTK 2.10, but at the moment I only have GTK 2.6.9

But @all: Suggestions for ports are always welcome. But as I've said
above, it should depend on < GTK 2.6

CygnusEd

A long awaited port for me is FontForge. There is not any recent font editor on Amiga and it would be a great application for every PageStream users.

And certainly thank you for your great work!

So if you unplug the device, the software in the PC won't know what to do, and when you plug in a new device (or even the same one), there is no guarantee that the two "ends" will be able to start talking again. You need hardware on the motherboard to signal the software that the device has been disconnected, then reconnected, and software to recover from it. None of these features is listed or demanded by the PS/2 spec, and makers don't include stuff that they don't have to.

I did not know that the PS/2 implementation of input ports are so limited.

I think nobody will miss them from the next Amigas (e.g. SAM440ep).

I know that there is +5v on that conector, but I think that if the plug is in the good position there should be no problem to hotplug.
However I will not do it again! Thanks for the tip.
