Matt told me that he wants to further develop Warp3D and add more features. I'd rather see it become an alternative to Gallium (when it finally arrives) since Warp3D will probably be faster.

So at least that confirms there's a bottleneck somewhere on the X1000. Hopefully it can be rectified at some point.

Did you test any higher resolutions to see how PXS scales on your system?

Universe Two by Crisot can be used for benchmarking pure Warp3D as can his Pxs-engine. It might also answer if there is something funny going on with Cow 3D.

Tested on X1000 witth R9 280 @850Mhz.

Universe Two: 72.893491 fps

Pxs-Engine has 2 executables. PXS_Ship renders 387 co-ordinates and 608 indics while PXS_Multiships renders 1935 co-ordinats and 3040 indices. I tested all resolutions available to me apart from 16-bit modes. I tested just once in each resolution rather than average multiple runs since the variation is so low there's no point.

I know some of you have 4x monitors so it would be interesting to see if the fps stay level all the way to 4x on your systems.

Pxs_Ship;

640x480x32: 72.823372 fps

Sounds like the video card's fan was sucking back in some of the hot air they expelled.

That's the plan, but the code for that hasn't been written yet.

I'm rather annoyed to hear that people are having out-of-VRAM crashes, as the RadeonHD_RM.resource has a VRAM paging system. And yes, it does work. Maybe a graphics library update changed things... Hans

I think when I read the blog about the paging feature I may read a little more than was actually written.

If someone were willing to do a new powerpc.library with compatibility with Sam460 and X1000 that was able to run the old games I'd certainly pay into a bounty for that.

@kas1e

Sorry forgot to ask to borrow Quake 3 when I was visiting friends at the weekend.

@thread

Anyone else got Quake 2 since I seem to be the only one to submit benchmarks for that.

Also can people give the clock speeds for there video cards, if it's not listed on the packaging it is very easy to obtain from the manufacturers website.

The 256mb gfx RAM limit still persists. Will this ever be overcome?

While you may not see all the memory in the OS, the Radeon HD render manager provides access to memory above 256MB for storage of textures and other data.

Was really clear down here in SE Wales on the edge of the Severn estuary. I didn't have a filter and only my compact camera with me but managed to get an image by not pointing directly at the sun.

Resized Image

Wish I'd realised earlier because almost everything I took before it peaked was just a massive blob of light. Nevermind.
